I have a 2000 arctic cat 300 4x4 quad. It has 960 miles on it. 1> Is the rear and front diff. supposed to be locked all the time, or did someone weld them?

2> The choke cable does not function. It is hard to start. when you do get it started, it blows white smoke and smells like gas, enough to make your eyes water at times. Will the choke cause this, or could this be a sticky needle valve?

3> Sometimes it Idles normal and then high and then back down.

When I bought it, it ran all right. Now when you take off and at full throttle it will start to sputter like it is chocking itself out. I'm hoping all this leads to the choke cable. By the way, how do you get the chock cable off. I can't fit a wrench on it. Sorry if any of this has been coverd and for the long post. I appreciate any advice. Thanks, Brian....

Thread title changed to a more descriptive title to get more response.

1. It should have selectable gear range and a 4X4 selector, does it?

2. Is the choke even working? Is the cable seized? It sounds like it's getting too much gas at start up..Are you sure it's not blue smoke from oil?

3. Reading this again, I think you should take that carb apart and inspect/rebuild.

Good morning, I am new to the forum. I'm 75 years old and love getting ATVs back to usable condition. I particularly like the 2006-2009 Arctic Cat 250 Utility. I currently own 6. The 2006 I am working on only has reverse and low gear. The "drive shaft" in the transmission is completely stripped where the high gear would mesh. Has anyone on here replaced the shaft. I'm told I have to split the case. I was hoping that someone on here could let me know how hard it will be. I already have it stripped down to where the shaft coming in from the clutch side is the only thing left. I was hoping I could just remove the driven clutch and drive it out from there. Directions say different. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Looking for two stock front wheels for 92 TRX300 2WD.   I think they are 6 x11" size.

This 2006 ArticCat dvx400 didn't have a reverse cable. I got one and am wondering how it routes? If someone has a dvx400, could post a pic of there reverse cable routing, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I recently noticed my Fourtrax 2WD has 4WD wheels installed on the front.  The back spacing is significantly different than 2WD wheels and they are almost touching the strut springs and the tires actually do touch the springs..   So far, no luck locating 2WD wheels to correct this issue.
