2005 arctic cat 500

I have a 2005 arctic cat 500 auto 4x4.When you turn the key on you here the sound it makes when you switch it from 2 to 4 wheel drive, it does not quit even when it is started. I can put the switch button in 2 wheel drive or 4 wheel drive and it keeps on making the same sound. Could it be the Actuator on the front drive gear case assembly? That is where the sound is coming from.

Thanks Greg

Unplug the actuator and see if the clicking stops.

It is common for the seals to go on the actuator and for them to cycle in and out as you describe. If you unplug it and the cycling stops then I would suggest replacing it or if you are handy enough take it off the quad and take it apart. Watch for the springs flying everywhere but once it is apart dry it out and seal with some good RTV silicone. Should be good as new. If you are not comfortable with taking one of these apart because of all of the small parts either pull it out on the bench and take your time or just plop a new one in. They are easy to get on and off.
