My normally problematic to start 05 500 4x4 (carb/fuel issues) has been fine the last couple months after tearing down carb and cleaning again etc.. It has turned very cold, I have been running it every 5-7 days and it has been starting. Need it BADLY BADLY right now, snow storm is almost here, and now no start. It is much colder than usual. Can someone tell me how I might try to start it?? I did not try starter fluid, I don't know where to spray it?? Air intake?? But not sure where that's at? Sad I know, I don't maintain it myself. If someone can help me I would appreciate it. Thanks.

Just saw your post. I also have a 2005 500 auto. 99.9% of the time it starts immediately.

But, there are a few things that will cause it to not start at all.

3 things...Make sure you have fuel, spark, and air.

Air seems to be the most common problem when it will not start at all for me.

There is an air line from the fuel pump to the carb. If this is broken, it will not start.

There is another breather air line from the carb that has to be at least 12" to 16" long and not broken. (it just hangs there) If this is broken or too long, it will not start. Sometimes little mud wasps pack it full, and it will not start.

I speak from experience!

I'd be interested to know if you found out the cause (by this time you must have solved the problem).

      Hi Guys!

New member and could really use your advice. I would have to believe this has been an issue for others but a search here came up with nothing......? (Probably me not doing search correctly)

      I have an 87 Big Bear 350 YFM350FWT
The OEM Mikuni BTM carb is shot and would rather replace than rebuild.
It is no longer made and I have had good luck with NICHE carbs so I ordered a #K-CRB-0006 This was what they said was replacement when ordered. This Carb only uses 1 Throttle cable. The Slide is linked so it uses one. (OEM had 2nd cable coming through top to move slide)

Problem is when I ordered a replacement Cable from NICHE (#C-CBL-0061) the Cable wire is a little short, not allowing Throttle to return all the way down to Idle position. I called NICHE and they are at a loss. Haven't gotten back to me after 2+ weeks.

What would you recommend other than a carb rebuild?
Can I just use 1 of the OEM cables (It is the right length) and snip/disconnect the other that went to top of Carb for Slide?
      Or ??

Thanks in advance for any advice you have!!

Hello I’m new here and was wondering is anyone knew of good replacement part numbers for front struts and rear shocks for this atv? I think I’ve found a new rear shock, that looks like the original but there is no dimensions or anything and was wondering if there are any afterMarket new front struts available. I know it’s a long shot but any help would be appreciated.

This is something I'm extremely curious about. Has anyone ever attempted to buy a quad (or any other vehicle) from an impound lot? I've always wondered if this could be a bargain, or a waste of time. Google searches do turn up some helpful results. Looks like the state of NJ holds auctions online which I'd be a bit hesitant about.

My online searches haven't really turned up any results of anyone buying an ATV this way. I'd be really curious if anyone tried this, or knows someone who has. I've actually found a couple pages with online auctions for my state, but none had ATVs.

I have a 2016 Arctic Cat 500 and recently noticed some oil leaking on the engine block to the right of the oil filter. It's near two metal lines going in and out of the engine block. I think one of the lines is called an engine oil line. I have a photo I'm going to try and attach. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I don't want to start tearing into the engine if I don't have to. I think maybe a gasket or something blew around one of these lines. The ATV runs fine otherwise. Doesn't overheat or anything.

Hello, what is the best method for installing bearings into their race? I've set one in place and tapped it down until it was metal on metal. Is that sufficient? Surely it's not supposed to go into the race until flush? Also. does the coil spring on the seal go into carrier bearing housing not facing out? Thanks! 🙂 Seal goes in until flush correct?
