Default ATV..Boots?

This question is for those who have purchased ATV boots.
Is there really a difference between ATV boots and Motocross boots? I am about to purchase new boots but dont know if the ATV boot is really better. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

agreed...the only difference is the sole of the boot....atv has almost a workboot sole to it as the MX boot has a smooth sole...

I'm no expert, but through shopping for boots, I agree with the previous posters.

I found a relatively inexpensive boot from Moose Racing:

Moose Racing M1 Boot

Only thing I find negative about the boot is that jean seams can be annoying sometimes.....because I have no (@$&% meat on me! LOL!

Do you think there is a big difference between an atv boot and a good work/hiking/hunting boot? A construction worker for over 20 years and used to be an avid backpacker so i have been throug many many many boots. Currently have a great pair of boots which are completely water proof yet very breathable although with 800 grams of thinsulate will need non-insulated ones for the summer..

how different are ATV boots constructed than a good work boot?

PS i know the difference between motorcross as i used to ride motorcross when i was a teen... Hard shell casing to protect you from rocks and such but notice the ATV boots look lower and not so hard.. they look more like hiking boots

The Moose M1's I have are "ATV" boots, but over the calf....

And the treaded sole....

I would think the over the calf and rigid ankle support is what makes a riding boot a riding boot (or MX/ATV boot) compared to a well constructed work/hiking boot.

I got the over the calf boot mainly for water/mud crossings and the ankle support.....I've ridden with my 800 gram 6" hiking and 8" snow boots and loved it....

Honestly? Over the ankle hiking/work boots for trail riding seem to be fine.

I just need to protect my butt as much as possible ;)
