2007 Suzuki King Quad - Need Help Please

i have 2007 kq 700 that will not start without battery charging . changed plug, new starter,new battery . it will turn over and act like it wants to start back fires but will only kills battery put charger to it starts right up . it has been smoking some if that helps . please help:aargh::aargh:

Will it run after it starts without the charger? put a meter across the terminals without the charger on and have the bike running. A reading of 13.2 or higher is preferred. If not check the alternator output. Refer to your shop manual for specific procedure.

Not sure if regulator is internal or external but it could be bad or alternator is bad

yah, i was thinking bad regulator too, or there's something sucking all the juice like the winch maybe... can you try and jump to the starter with some cables? i mean a new battery should make it walk in gear without being started ...

Good point Oxy. With a fully charged battery remove the charger and pos batt cable clip pos meter to battery cable and black meter cable to pos battery post. Make sure everything is off including the key. Set the meter to dc volts and read it. Shop manual should have the draw spec
