2005 Suzuki King Quad 700 - Oil burning?

Hello everybody,

I am the owner of a 2005 Kingquad 700 with 10251 km (6370 miles). I bought this ATV one year ago. Since I have this ATV, I have a high oil consumption. 20 fl.OZ each 150 miles.

Therefore I decided to change the piston rings and also the valve seals. The ring clearance was out of tolerance.

I did not change the piston and the cylinder. The clearance of the new rings are in the tolerance.

After the change of the rings and seals the problem seems not to be solved. :aargh:

The oil consumption is still the same.

The problem is that the ATV is not smoking blue (like oil burning).

The sparkplug is coffe brown in the middle and black outside. The spark plug is completely dry.

The coolant has a normal colour. No oil inside.

There is no oil leak.

The airbox is dry.

The engine is starting and running normally!!!!

I change also the oil type: 10W40 -> 10W50

Where is the oil going? I am sure that the oil is burned but why is the ATV not smoking blue ??? With this high oil consumption, I expected that the ATV smokes blue or the engine wouldn t run properly.

My next step would be to change piston and cylinder....

I am confused and it would be helpful if somebody have a good idea.

Did you machine the cylinder sleeve when you changed the rings? If not the rings might not of seated correctly possibly leading to oil slipping past the rings and being burned. Im not familiar with this atv but i would assume its water cooled. Maybe you have a bad head gasket too

Hi guys. I have a problem where the quad will start and run well for about 5 minutes and then it dies. On inspection the airbox has oil in it (quite a lot). The oil is pumping through the cylinder head breather hose. This problem first happened suddenly. I have since done the top end including, piston, gaskets, rings and valves. I have also done the carb (not that I thought that this was the problem). The compression seems normal. The only thing that I can think of, is that I did not grind the valves well enough. Anyone experienced this? If so, how did you fix it? Any other thoughts?

      Hi everyone.
Let me explain the thread title.
My husband and I are very active in the nudist community, and we have stayed at many and most of the mainstream nudist and clothing optional campgrounds in the USA. We are now approaching our retirement and would like to start a podcast to share those off the road / backwoods / little known camping areas where nudity is allowed. We have purchased a 5th wheel camping trailer with a rear garage for the ATV and now need some good reports on the one to buy.
We are most interested in a side by side unit but would love to get your thoughts.
Feel free to stop by and say Hi and ask anything you would like to better understand what we are looking for in an offroad unit.
Thanks for reading and hope to hear from you.

Hello i have a 2005 Bombardier Outlander max xt 400, i recently split the case to fix a oil leak. while in there i took out the oil pump and i cant find the torque specs for the oil pump to go back in, i tend to over tighten everything so im trying to go be the torque specs so i dont break anything.

      Thank you in advance

This is something I'm extremely curious about. Has anyone ever attempted to buy a quad (or any other vehicle) from an impound lot? I've always wondered if this could be a bargain, or a waste of time. Google searches do turn up some helpful results. Looks like the state of NJ holds auctions online which I'd be a bit hesitant about.

My online searches haven't really turned up any results of anyone buying an ATV this way. I'd be really curious if anyone tried this, or knows someone who has. I've actually found a couple pages with online auctions for my state, but none had ATVs.
