1993 Suzuki Quadrunner - Idle/Throttle Prob

Recommended Posts

:aargh: hello everyone, got some problems with my bike that i need some help figuring out. when i start the bike itll run fine for 2-3 minutes, then it starts to rev really high(almost at max rpms) and doesnt respond right to throttle(sometimes throttle will bog it out doesnt do anything). The only way it can kind of control it (and it seems to work pretty well) is by plugging the breather hole/vent out of the bowl of the carb. When i plug that hole it stops reving really high(almost instantly) but the throttle now seems to stick(I hit the throttle and itll respond nicely but slowly idles down). Now ive cleaned out the carb around 4 times and blew it all out with an air compressor, so it should be well cleaned by now, it also now has a new diaphram installed as well.

I do know that there is a bad valve(I think its the intake valve) because its got around 155-160 psi when engine is cold but once it warms up its a little under 120psi. Also think there is a electrical issue because the head light only gets bright on the last stroke as the bike dies out(No battery installed). Not sure if either of these problems could cause this but hoping someones been there done that and knows the root of the throttle problem.

Also every time i check the spark plug its black and fluffy

Thanks in advance for ur help.

if the plug is black, then its burning rich. i dont think the other problems are affecting the rev issue. is there fuel running out the bowl overflow where you plug it to settle it down? the throttle cable moves nice and the slide works well and isnt sticking? how are the vacuum lines on the carb? is the needle and seat working properly and is the float whole and not taking on fuel? how is the spark plug? proper heat range? hopefully a suzuki guy will jump in to give some suggestions too ...

      Hi everyone.
Let me explain the thread title.
My husband and I are very active in the nudist community, and we have stayed at many and most of the mainstream nudist and clothing optional campgrounds in the USA. We are now approaching our retirement and would like to start a podcast to share those off the road / backwoods / little known camping areas where nudity is allowed. We have purchased a 5th wheel camping trailer with a rear garage for the ATV and now need some good reports on the one to buy.
We are most interested in a side by side unit but would love to get your thoughts.
Feel free to stop by and say Hi and ask anything you would like to better understand what we are looking for in an offroad unit.
Thanks for reading and hope to hear from you.

      Hi Guys!

New member and could really use your advice. I would have to believe this has been an issue for others but a search here came up with nothing......? (Probably me not doing search correctly)

      I have an 87 Big Bear 350 YFM350FWT
The OEM Mikuni BTM carb is shot and would rather replace than rebuild.
It is no longer made and I have had good luck with NICHE carbs so I ordered a #K-CRB-0006 This was what they said was replacement when ordered. This Carb only uses 1 Throttle cable. The Slide is linked so it uses one. (OEM had 2nd cable coming through top to move slide)

Problem is when I ordered a replacement Cable from NICHE (#C-CBL-0061) the Cable wire is a little short, not allowing Throttle to return all the way down to Idle position. I called NICHE and they are at a loss. Haven't gotten back to me after 2+ weeks.

What would you recommend other than a carb rebuild?
Can I just use 1 of the OEM cables (It is the right length) and snip/disconnect the other that went to top of Carb for Slide?
      Or ??

Thanks in advance for any advice you have!!

Have a 1998 AC 300 2x4, Just installed a new carburetor. Engine starts easy but the choke RPMs are very hi and take along time (5-10 mins when cold out). After engine has warmed up choke releases and it idles and runs fine., It does no have an electric choke. The choke lever is never used and it seems like an auto choke? Long story short, how can I lower the choke rpm levels?

Also, carb came with a spare145 jet, not 100% sure what is installed. Could this impact choke RPMs?

Any help and information greatly appreciated.

      Hey all!
I'm on a mission to buy my first UTV soundbar as a gift for my dad(a newbie on ATV). I'm aiming for something that offers great sound quality without breaking the bank – my budget is around $250. Right now, I'm considering options like ecoxgear, kemimoto, and boss.
Does anyone have experience with these brands or specific models that you'd recommend? Any advice or suggestions would be super appreciated!
