wheel spacers or?

I have a project in the works and need pro advice and thoughts! No amatures, please! I have acquired 2 1990's quadrunners and am converting 1 of them into a low profile rock crawlin, single seat buggy! Here is my plan,Im gonna cut the frame in half just in front of the cylinder head and extend the front approx 2' to accomidate a seat in front of the motor/business end of the animal and lengthening the shaft to the front diff. I was also considering wheel spacers to make it a little more stable from side to side. Upon considering my options i noticed that if i turn the wheels inside out,i would gain the same space as if i would have bought the spacers w/o the expense. I want all the pro advice relative to the spacers you can come up with ,good and bad!ps the only difference is that the air valves will be on the inside of the wheel. thanx jim:goofy::idea::idea::biggrin:

Ambitious i will agree!!! And i have all the time in the world to make this happen. The reason being is very simple! this animal just about kilt me,or as i have been told " I am not supposed to be alive" So that being said all my quads from now on will be -w- a roll cage and a seatbelt/harness (4-5 point). Also what really brought all this home was at the time i reached the emergency room entrance. The flight for life chopper just landed -w- 3 children that were also in an atv accident and not one of them survived.i may be 54 yrs old but i cant afford to loose my 9th life as the other 8 are gone also, love life and live it slow and happy :-) jim

The only experience in flipping the wheels I have had was on a blaster both 88-02 ans 03-06.

I can tell you from my experience, I couldn't do it on the 03-06 as it was front hydro disks and the stem contacted the caliper. The do make flush valve stems get them on Ebay Flush Mount Valve Stems Set of 4 Wheel Valves Chrome | eBay I have not tried these but know a few who said they worked flawlessly.

On the 88-02 they flipped no problem and gave me 2" on each side which helped a lot! On the down side they tracked like crap, made steering harder, turning worse. On the blaster there is no camber/caster adjustment just toe in or out so it was a sacrifice to flip and save the money - extended arms with adjustments, which was over $400 out of my budget. I just dealt or (re learned how to steer) with the flipped rims and left it like that. Only other possible issue I would for see with flipping is if you run a directional tire.

Now I run 2.5" wheel spacers (the screw on type) on the 03 blaster, and that has served me well, I am 225lbs and 6 tall, I dont jump 20 footers anymore but i am also no easy on it it get beaten over boulders and stumps and have had zero failures, I only have them on the front i have a extended axle for the rear.

With this said, I am not sure how zuks front set up is. Just wanted to give you my feedback to think about!

Ambitious project. You have to figure a way to lengthen throttle, rear brake, choke, and transmission shift cables. Then there is wiring. Fuel and breather tubes will be easy.

Yes there are a few challanges/oportunities to this prototype, but its a real pleasure butchering the quad that should have killed me,enough of me! most of the alterations are easy as the high low range lever will go on the left/s of the frame next to the seat, the forward reverse lever will go to the right side of the seat and the gear selection lever/handle/knob will be right between the legs and in front of the steering shaft and to be honest "i love it when a plan comes together"

Heres my story. Kinda long. I guess I was a late bloomer when it comes to quads. I had never ridden a quad in my life. Rode Dirt Bikes as a kid growing up. Back in Oct of '06 I found a Mustang on craigslist. Took it for a test drive one morning before work. Fast car. 351 Cleveland. I had planned on meeting the guy again after work. For some strange reason thats still to this day beyond me, I stopped in Hillsboro MotoSports on the way home from work. I had 6 Grand on me. There was a left over '05 sitting by the front door. It was on sale for $4999. It was $5499 OTD. I didnt even look at anything else. I knew nothing about quads accept I thought it really looked coool and I had the money in my pocket to buy it. I was sitting on it when the salesman walked up and asked... "Can I help you?" Without hestitation I pulled 60 Ben Franklins outta my front pocket and said "I want this Quad. Load it up in my truck." It was just about dark by the time I drove away from the shop. BTW, I didnt bother to ask my ol lady if I could buy it. LOL. Anyway, I took it by the house and showed her. She was kinda stunned but not mad. We drove over to a friend of mines house and unloaded it. I took it to the field across the street from his house. HOLY CHIT!!!!! I was surprised by the power. I had it for about 2 weeks and took it to Sand Lake. I was there a few hours and rolled it on a banked turn at the top of the bowl right before you get to the one-ways. When it rolled, I flew off and landed on my belly. The quad came bouncing and landed on my back. For a month I couldnt even walk. I was scared of it. I considered trading it for a 250EX. Went back to the shop. The salesman said..."Dude!!! You dont want a 250EX!!! Trust me. Just get used to it" I still wasnt convinced. I put it on craigslist for $4000. Calls were coming in. I had a guy that wanted to come look at it that evening. I decided to take it for one last ride at Browns Camp before I sold it. I was still afraid of it. After about 5 minutes I started feeling comfortable on it again. I decided right then, I loved my Honda 450 and would learn how to ride it instead of selling it. That was late Nov of '06. Work was slow for a Painter in Oregon. My new job everyday? Going to Browns Camp and ridding my Quad. I bought my Girl Friend an '02 Blaster. I rode my 450 for 4-6 hours almost every single day for 3 months. And yes, I know my way around Browns Camp pretty well. LOL. In March I bought her an '06 TRX250EX (Thank God I didnt trade my 450 for one of those) LOL Since then, I have become totally addicted to quads. I love them. Couldnt imagine not owning at least one quad. Luckily I have two. My "07 was $6500 OTD in July of '07. Bought it for my Girlfriend. Traded in her 250 EX. A month later we broke up. So, I wound up with two Honda 450's.

      Hey all!
I'm on a mission to buy my first UTV soundbar as a gift for my dad(a newbie on ATV). I'm aiming for something that offers great sound quality without breaking the bank – my budget is around $250. Right now, I'm considering options like ecoxgear, kemimoto, and boss.
Does anyone have experience with these brands or specific models that you'd recommend? Any advice or suggestions would be super appreciated!

I added more fresh gas it sat one day now, it's acting up again. Before cleaning out carburetor it wouldn't idle good and had gas leaks from carburetor. Now it idles pretty good but, if I increase throttle speed at a certain amount it starts missing bad. I'm going to try and post a short video. Just about ready to give up on this thing.😒  you can see reflection perking in video.

Hello folks, my machine wound up with I think water in the tank etc. It runs but speeds up and slows back down randomly. When not running I don't see gas dripping  from the drain nipple on bottom of float bowl and drain screw is closed tight. With normal idle speed I see no leaking. When the idle speed increases quite a bit on it's own, gas appears to start slowly dripping from float bowl drain nipple? I'm wondering if the carb is flooding and the gas is actually coming from higher up and just appears, to be coming out of nipple but, is actually running down the sides of the nipple? I put a kit in the factory Mikuni carb last year after sitting for a while and I think the gas in the jug I used had drawn moisture. I plan to pull the carb tomorrow and clean everything out. I was just curious if anyone else thinks it's probably something in the carb and is, acutally a flooding problem? Thanks Folks! 🙂

I am in the process of puting it back together after replacing the DPS gearbox.
The manual I have states that it will need to be flashed by a dealer. Is this still true?
