400 Eiger Issue!

I bought a 2004 Eiger 5 speed. The guy I got it from let it sit 3 months in the winter. It would start up but not idle and die out when you revved it up. I took carb off soaked it, cleaned jets, reset floats, new gas. It would sart but flood after a few seconds. Tore it down again. Now it won't start. Gas runs out the vent tube!!!! Sometimes the plug is wet sometimes not. Have good consistent spark and the flywheel had been changed out. Any ideas?! Is it a vacuum issue? Maybe carb boot between carb and head? And I checked the fuel flow from the pitcock so I don't believe that's the issue.

something is wrong with your float if gas is running out of vent tube. I had the same problem with mine and I had to replace the needle and seat. when the carb apart make sure you blow into fuel inlet with the float pushing closed and see if it seals. also you must use compressed air to clean carb while its apart. hope this helps

Thanks, I think float too, but I replaced the needle and blew it all out with air. I did not try blowing air through the fuel inlet while holding the floats closed though. I have had this thing off 3 times now! I thought floats before so I set them at 17mm or .67" after I replaced the needle.

Ok thanks! It's only running out of the vent if I turn it to prime for a few seconds when cranking. Doesn't seem to do that when the petcock is on. Still think float? Going to yank it in a couple days. Also Suzuki list 2 carbs for the 04 (k4). 13200-38FBV and 13200-38FCV. Anybody know the difference? Is one for the automatic tranny and one for the semi auto?

From Arkansas. Just bought a 2012 Gator 850i RSX because I could not pass up the price. BUT it has an idle problem. So, to be honest, I joined just to get a service manual. I have a choice: 1)Buy a hard copy: ~$100; 2)Buy a CD ~$35.00; Get a direct download for free posting 10 times; or get a download for $29.00 (subscription). Haven't decided what to do yet.

      Hi Guys!

New member and could really use your advice. I would have to believe this has been an issue for others but a search here came up with nothing......? (Probably me not doing search correctly)

      I have an 87 Big Bear 350 YFM350FWT
The OEM Mikuni BTM carb is shot and would rather replace than rebuild.
It is no longer made and I have had good luck with NICHE carbs so I ordered a #K-CRB-0006 This was what they said was replacement when ordered. This Carb only uses 1 Throttle cable. The Slide is linked so it uses one. (OEM had 2nd cable coming through top to move slide)

Problem is when I ordered a replacement Cable from NICHE (#C-CBL-0061) the Cable wire is a little short, not allowing Throttle to return all the way down to Idle position. I called NICHE and they are at a loss. Haven't gotten back to me after 2+ weeks.

What would you recommend other than a carb rebuild?
Can I just use 1 of the OEM cables (It is the right length) and snip/disconnect the other that went to top of Carb for Slide?
      Or ??

Thanks in advance for any advice you have!!

      Dave

Howdy y'all, I'm trying to fix a neighbors 2015 Brute Force 300. Came in with hard to start and won't idle except on choke issue. I pulled the carb and found the pilot jet as well as the emulsion tube partially clogged. Cleaned up everything, put it back together, still having issues...  It will start right up on choke and will also start off choke if you give it just a touch of throttle but it absolutely will not idle unless it's choked just a touch. Also, excuse my ignorance but I'm assuming the "dial" thingy attached to the carb that turns in and out is for setting idle??

I have been exploring all the options available, so many, its hard to choose. I have kind of narrowed it down to the Honda Pilot, Subaru Outback, and Kind of looking at the Outlander, although its a little small,  the new one is nice looking. Just wondering if anyone has any recommendations or gripes with any of these rides. I have driven Jeeps for the past 25  years and they have been great, but their price point has gotten to high. Expieriences good or bad would be helpful. Thanks!
