1992 Suzuki LT 250R glass window

After thinking about this, I think that motor has a sight glass over the powervavle, and I don't think that there is one for the tranny oil. I believe the window is there so you can visually check to see if the powervalve is working. It has been a long time since we had ours, so I don't remember exactly. Maybe Scott will see this thread and chime in, he rides an old Quadracer too.

I cannot locate my manual right now but it appears that the sight glass is for exhaust valve.

I found this on another forum:

at idle, the valve should be open, through the sight glass the arm should be down.

once the RPMs increase enough to close it, the arm goes up(rod pushes it up.)

the spring adds just a slight amount of additional pressure and allows you to tune the RPM the valve closes by how far you turn the knob... a significant change can be had with only +/- 1/4 turn from 360CCW.

I’m looking for a top end kit for a Yamaha. I would like to see how well the engine runs before spending $6-$7 hundred on oem. Niche has complete kits from $1-$2 hundred.  Anyone have experience with Niche or similar Chinese companies?

This is something I'm extremely curious about. Has anyone ever attempted to buy a quad (or any other vehicle) from an impound lot? I've always wondered if this could be a bargain, or a waste of time. Google searches do turn up some helpful results. Looks like the state of NJ holds auctions online which I'd be a bit hesitant about.

My online searches haven't really turned up any results of anyone buying an ATV this way. I'd be really curious if anyone tried this, or knows someone who has. I've actually found a couple pages with online auctions for my state, but none had ATVs.

      Hello All
I'm kinda new to ATVs. I just bought a 1987 Suzuki quad runner 230 Dual Range. I'm having a problem finding info on it. It's very clean, only 2.800 miles. The front wheels are only 30 in.center to center. I was thinking about adding wheel spacers to give it more stability. I realize the added stress on ball joints and bearings. I'm wondering if there are any other concerns? Any input is greatly appreciated!
