08 YFZ450 Want to change sprocket

Changing to a smaller sprocket will give you more low end performance. I think that droping a tooth in the front may not be the best idea, you will lose alot of top end speed, you will lose traction and you will run the gears out faster. You will be spinning your tires like mad and you will be on the rev limiter before you know it. Some people do it and seem to like the result but, going up a tooth or two on the rear would be better IMO, you will get a little bit better low end without sacrificing too much top end speed. Changing rear sprockets is just as easy and the change is more subtle, however, a two tooth change may require a link added to the chain. Generally, a one tooth change in front is comparable to a 3 tooth change in back. Like Bot said, exhaust and cam upgrades will help you with more power that will help you pull the stock gearing a bit better, obviously that would be the best way to go but if you only want to spend about $20 to $35 dollars or so, sprockets are much cheaper.

If you got the sprocket, try it, you can always put it back if you don't like it, it is easy enough. But it sounds like you have other problems. Did you re-jet the carb when you added the exhaust and filter? You may be running that thing a bit lean, lean is bad. I would make sure your jetting is ok before you ride it again. Pull your plug out, what does it look like?

This is something I'm extremely curious about. Has anyone ever attempted to buy a quad (or any other vehicle) from an impound lot? I've always wondered if this could be a bargain, or a waste of time. Google searches do turn up some helpful results. Looks like the state of NJ holds auctions online which I'd be a bit hesitant about.

My online searches haven't really turned up any results of anyone buying an ATV this way. I'd be really curious if anyone tried this, or knows someone who has. I've actually found a couple pages with online auctions for my state, but none had ATVs.

      Hey all!
I'm on a mission to buy my first UTV soundbar as a gift for my dad(a newbie on ATV). I'm aiming for something that offers great sound quality without breaking the bank – my budget is around $250. Right now, I'm considering options like ecoxgear, kemimoto, and boss.
Does anyone have experience with these brands or specific models that you'd recommend? Any advice or suggestions would be super appreciated!

I added more fresh gas it sat one day now, it's acting up again. Before cleaning out carburetor it wouldn't idle good and had gas leaks from carburetor. Now it idles pretty good but, if I increase throttle speed at a certain amount it starts missing bad. I'm going to try and post a short video. Just about ready to give up on this thing.😒  you can see reflection perking in video.

Hello folks, my machine wound up with I think water in the tank etc. It runs but speeds up and slows back down randomly. When not running I don't see gas dripping  from the drain nipple on bottom of float bowl and drain screw is closed tight. With normal idle speed I see no leaking. When the idle speed increases quite a bit on it's own, gas appears to start slowly dripping from float bowl drain nipple? I'm wondering if the carb is flooding and the gas is actually coming from higher up and just appears, to be coming out of nipple but, is actually running down the sides of the nipple? I put a kit in the factory Mikuni carb last year after sitting for a while and I think the gas in the jug I used had drawn moisture. I plan to pull the carb tomorrow and clean everything out. I was just curious if anyone else thinks it's probably something in the carb and is, acutally a flooding problem? Thanks Folks! 🙂

I am in the process of puting it back together after replacing the DPS gearbox.
The manual I have states that it will need to be flashed by a dealer. Is this still true?
Also , I have a mystery bolt That I cannot remember where it goes. M6x 70 or so.  Hex head with a flat washer.I will try to attach a pic.
Pic is no go for now....Cox issue I will try again later
