Hello. I acquired this machine as payment for a debt, so I don't know a lot about it.

First, I had no no electrical functions at all. battery would not take a charge. New battery and reconnect a grey connector at the front of the machine took care of that. Now it starts, idles fine, but misses and backfires as soon as throttle is opened, with parking brake engaged.

An acquaintance who claims to be a motorcycle mechanic recommends changing the air filter and spark plug. I don't have a dealer close, but a local auto parts store is ordering them for me.

A new air filter and spark plug are never a bad idea. If the quad has been sitting for a while, then there is a good chance that the carb is gummed up with old gas. You may want to take it apart and clean it really good, just to be sure. You mentioned that it sputters and backfires when the parking brake is engaged, does this happen when the brake isn't engaged?

Hello. I thought I would follow up with developments, in case someone else was experiencing the same symptoms.

I disassembled the carb, cleaned, reassembled and installed it. I now have good idle and no missing during acceleration or off-idle sustained speed. I haven't actually ridden it yet, still putting all the plastic and racks back on.

I have a slight backfire as the engine returns to idle. Just once in awhile. Does anyone know what normal cylinder compression should be? I got 150 psi, with the engine slightly warmed up.

Thanks

Hi all.  New to the forum & quads.  Seems like a great place full of info.
I just recently picked up a 2005 Suzuki KingQuad LTA700.  I need a battery.  I've been reading up on conventional vs AGM types.  I have a Royal Distributing and Canadian Tire.  RD has 2 types avail for my year/Model a battery YTX16-BS CRANK $75, and BATTERY YTX20CH-BS YUASA $140.  Neither of these is the type from the manual FTZ16-BS.
from what I can tell... I think the only difference is the capacity with the $75 unit rated at 14 AH/10HR and the $140 unit rated at 18 AH/10HR ... which is the rating in the manual for the FTZ16-BS.  How much does this make a difference for nearly x2 the cost?
And about the models/type numbers.... what is important to know ... they all end in "-BS" but are the other details relevant or just manufacturer naming?

Looking for two stock front wheels for 92 TRX300 2WD.   I think they are 6 x11" size.

      anybody have a electrical drawing
      cant figure out problem
new starter relay, when i turn the key on all 3 leads to relay are hot red, blue, blue white. Is that correct. nothing happens ir clicks at the starter relay when i push the start button
on the relay closest to the cdi and nearest the brake light the relay vibrates as if it is opening and closing rapidly
the batter is new and good
if i short the B and M lugs on the starter relay the engines turns over but does not start and there is no spark
I ordered a new cdi but the one on the machine is only a few months old but a aftermarket
anybody have a electrical drawing or advice ir know what that relay symptom is and what activates it
      thanks ahead

I recently noticed my Fourtrax 2WD has 4WD wheels installed on the front.  The back spacing is significantly different than 2WD wheels and they are almost touching the strut springs and the tires actually do touch the springs..   So far, no luck locating 2WD wheels to correct this issue.
