98 yamaha grizzly 600 problems?????

Recommended Posts

while riding a few days ago, my quad did great through the mud, but while driving it back home, running about 35mph, it seemed like i lost all power and the quad just died. i put it in neutral and started it back up, drove another half mile and it did it again, i had to have my buddy pull me the rest of the way home. the quad turns over but is acting like its not getting any fuel or maybe some spark plug problem? im not for sure why its doin this, i was thinking it got a lil too wet?, maybe water in places that it shouldnt have any? hope to hear something back, thanks

ive checked the spark plug, and its getting spark.

ive pulled the airbox off and there was no water in it.

i have no clue.

Try taking out the plug and using a hose with a funnel to add like a tablespoon of gas to the cylinder then quickly put the plug back in and see if it fires up. I had an issue with the float and needle not allowing fuel to flow properly in mine ethanol eats away at the materials and any small amount of dirt can cause a sticky needle may need a cleaning or rebuild . Just a thought

well the problem is in the carb somewhere. the quad is getting too much fuel. but the jets that are in the carb are stock. so im planning on buying a carb rebuild kit and see how that goes, i guess if that doesnt work, then the next step is buying a new carb. anyone got any good sites for buying atv parts? thanks!

Hey what I did was take a product call Sea Foam and took off the air filter through 2 cap fulls in the air intake hose held my hand over it in till it choked itself out let it sit for a 5 to 10 min then started it back up and has never run better this stuff is great I use it in all my fuel cans and wheelers it cleans out the gunk hope this helps also almost sounds like you had a fuel vacuum issue check you fuel cap and make sure the tank is breathing right and not causing a vacuum where it would choke itself out Good Luck Greg

My friends KQ 300 starts fine and runs, as soon as you put it in gear and try to accelerate its bucks and farts like crazy, not moving... I cleaned carb and it worked good for 1 day... now back to same problem.... could it be such as a bent valve????

Have a 1998 AC 300 2x4, Just installed a new carburetor. Engine starts easy but the choke RPMs are very hi and take along time (5-10 mins when cold out). After engine has warmed up choke releases and it idles and runs fine., It does no have an electric choke. The choke lever is never used and it seems like an auto choke? Long story short, how can I lower the choke rpm levels?

Also, carb came with a spare145 jet, not 100% sure what is installed. Could this impact choke RPMs?

Any help and information greatly appreciated.

Bucking started about a month ago and works ok after 1/2 hour warmup.  Today while working on it i discovered that if i put the ignition switch in LIGHT position it runs fine right from the start.
I'm stumped!  Any idea why this could be?

This is something I'm extremely curious about. Has anyone ever attempted to buy a quad (or any other vehicle) from an impound lot? I've always wondered if this could be a bargain, or a waste of time. Google searches do turn up some helpful results. Looks like the state of NJ holds auctions online which I'd be a bit hesitant about.

My online searches haven't really turned up any results of anyone buying an ATV this way. I'd be really curious if anyone tried this, or knows someone who has. I've actually found a couple pages with online auctions for my state, but none had ATVs.

Hi, I have been around everything with a motor since I was little, and finally purchased more to get my husband, and kids involved. I have 4 quads I will be searching around for information on. I have two 2002 Suzuki LT80K quads, a 1997 Yamaha Timberwolf 250, and a 1996 Kawasaki Bayou 220. I have had different ones throughout the years, and plan on buying another Yamaha Banshee. I plan on trying to learn more about all of them, so I can customize some of them. I know nothing about them besides how to race them, my dad always took care of the rest, but figured it was time for me to learn.
