  1. Hello from Kennesaw GA. I have a 1999 Polaris Magnum 500 that I am slowly repairing, piece by piece. My brother and I share it and every time I want to borrow it for a while I get it and have to fix something. By the time I get it fixed, he wants it again. So far new battery, new starter solenoid, new rear brake seals and bolts, this week I'm overhauling the front brakes. I've never done this kind of work before but I figure if I can take it apart, I can put it back together! -JerryC
  2. RESOLVED! I started undoing any 'extra wires' and connected red from starter to bottom post of solenoid, then top post of solenoid to red/pos of battery. Then I jumpered it and it started! So I connected all the other wires and it is working like a champ! Thanks- JerryC
  3. I just went and took a better look at it. Thick red wire coming from the starter to the solenoid (but not sure to which post). Thick red wire going from the other solenoid post to the red battery terminal. Thick black wire going from the battery neg terminal back to the starter. I actually just tried it both ways (red from starter to top post, red to battery from the bottom post and then the opposite) but it didn't start the ATV. So I think I have further issues, but I will need to be confident I have it connected properly. It WILL pull start... Any ideas?
  4. Yes, that's the old one. The dealer said that the part had been changed to the new solenoid. The new one is similar to the old one. You're right that they're both on the same 'side' but one is higher than the other one. That's what I meant by 'top'. I can't remember how the wires, red/black, were connected on the old one. But that schematic shows 15=red, so I'll connect red to the top/upper post and give it a try. Thanks, I had seen that schematic before but just didn't pay that much attention to it. I'll let you know how it turns out! Thanks! -JerryC
  5. Hi guys, I just bought a new starter solenoid (part # 4011335) for my Magnum 500 and it is a little different from the old one. It has two posts, a top one and a bottom one. I just need to know which one gets the red wires and which one gets black, or does it matter? Thanks for any input! -JerryC
