  1. New to ATV's with one year experience with this ATV. When I use the electric start, there is a rapid clicking at the starter relay assembly. I replaced the starter relay with the same results. No other sounds. The battery is good and lights work. The ATV will start with the pull cord but it is very hard to pull and is not a good option. I guess my next option is to pull the starter but would appreciate any other input for my starting problems. Thanks. Charles
  2. Hey everyone. I have been poking around this site for awhile and I am in need of yalls assistance. I have a 06 350 bruin. It has sat in my parents garage for about 2 years and was never started. I got it home, put fresh fuel and plug in it. It would start and run great but it wouldn't idle unless choke was on. Also when you were moving and let off the throttle it would make a pop noise down by the carb area. I thought it was a dirty carb so I sprayed some carb cleaner in it and didn't help. I removed the carb, tore it down and cleaned it. I removed the jets spraying carb cleaner and compressed air thru them. I removed the float as well and cleaned. I drilled out the plug that covers the air/fuel mixture screw. I read where the spec is two turns from fully seated. So that is where I set it at. Before I did that, I removed the screw and spring and cleaned that bore out as well. I reassembled and now I have issues. It is very hard to start, choke or no choke, and when you do get it started, you have to hold the throttle at 3/4 way to keep it running. It will run very rough at 3/4 as well. With the air filter off, while trying to start, it is blowing a lot of fuel back out into the air filter and the plug is getting fuel fouled very bad. I removed the carb again thinking I messed something up or got the float stuck but everything looked fine. I put the carb back on the second time and it didn't change a thing. I assume its something I did since its not running like it did before I tore down the carb. Can anyone please help? Thanks a lot.
  3. Just curious if anyone ever tried to fit a 99-09 bruin 250 muffler on an older moto 4 250 before ? Looks like it would . Probably not to hard to adapt the mounts . Just wondering about clearance as the one we have just barely clears the tire . Thoughts ?? Thanks in advance . JP
  4. Hi guys! First post here...bought a Bruin, as mentioned above from a buddy. It had been parked for a few years at his house..unused. Bought it from him at a steal and put a battery in it, new gas, etc...fired right up. It is cutting out now, but I suppose that is just the carb/fuel system needs a good cleaning. Ordered a new carb and hope that gets it going good!
  5. Hello. I'm looking for some answers to this hopefully simple question. When I press the start button, I get this loud buzzing coming from the starter relay. I haven't ridden this beast in a couple of years, however it's been on a trckle charger the entire time. This thing has less than 2 hours on it!! I have misplaced my voltmeter and will have to go in to town to purchase another one. I wouldn't think it was the battery? But I'm new to these things. I'm mechanically inclined and refuse to take this thing in for service... heck I'm restoring a 68 Camaro in my garage! Thus the username. Any help or direction will be greatly appreciated. I tried jumping the two main wires on the relay with no results. Battery? Starter relay? When I get back from town, I'll post up the voltage at the terminals. And while were at it, how easy is it to replace the pull starter rope? That is broken too! lol Many thanks. Robert
  6. ATV smokes badly when it is cold and the choke is used, it won't start without using the choke. When it warms up, smoking stops or is at least not appearent to me. When it is warm and started there is no smoke. If I remember correctly it started smoking a little bit before mechanic adjusted the carb. ATV would stall out when climbing hills. Man drilled out something and adjusted the mixture screw 3 turns out. Now I can kill everything within 5 acres with the smoke I create. I have noticed oil and gas dripping from the rubber adapter where the carb hooks to filter box and there is some oil in the bottom of the box. Do ATV's have a PCV valve or something that would cause oil to be pushed up into carb.? Crankcase oil level is OK. Within the last 2 years, mechanic has replaced cylinder, piston, rings, cam shaft, cam shaft chain and gear, valve guides. 1.5k in expenses and it still not right. Does any one have any ideas?
  7. I just bought this and the previous owner has disconnected the wires going to the cluster. I have found where one end has been cut. One is a sky blue and the other a green wire. I cant find where these connect to? When I ground either wire each light will come on. Any help would be great...
  8. replaced the stator on my 2004 yamaha bruin 350 and it ran for a few mins then shut off and now wont restart.. Help please
  9. My 2005 yamaha Bruin 350 is having idleing problems. If I turn the choke off it dies. I have to put it at about mid choke for it to idle. Also it pops and sputters. I can drive it and it runs fine its just the idleing. Is this a dirty carb?
  10. my 2006 bruin 350 ran great, suddenly it developed problem, it starts great, idles great but when you give it a lot of throttle it breaks down, i checked gas cap and it is fine, where should i start
  11. THis is actually a Bruin 350, I fat fingered the thread title. This Bruin has been in storage for 1 year, with no stabil used and I'm attempting to bring this beast back to life. The only way I've been able to to start this thing is: 1. Leave fuel cock open overnite 2. Adjust choke to mid-choke 3. Press Start 4. Idles for 3-4 minutes on a really LABORED idle (not smooth idle, but sounds like puttering on its deathbead) However once I get it started, it seems to have a terribly labored idle for about 3-4 minutes, then dies. If you touch the trottle during idle warmup, it dies. Once it's dead, there is no getting it started again until the next day. I've done the following: 1. Visually inspected and cleaned sparkplug - verified spacing @ .025" 2. Drained old fuel and refueled with premium unleaded 3. Checked fuel flow from fuel cock to carb - smooth flow 4. Checked fuel flow from carb to carb fuel drain - smooth flow 5. Compression appears to be ok, however I do not have a tester, but placing my hand behind exhaust yields good pressure. I have Fuel, Spark and temp fire, what should I check next? Any moving parts in the carb that have a tendancy to get stuck? Perhaps the stator?
  12. New to forum and ATVs, so here goes. Bruin 350 has been rarely used, especially recently. Changed oil and filter, new plug, cleaned air cleaner and filled with fuel w/ Sta-bil added. Rode for 1-2 hours with no problems. When coming to a stop and left idling in neutral, idle increases to perhaps twice normal rpm. Jabbing throttle has no effect...when it returns to idle, still idles high. If I shut off the motor, it backfires once through exhaust pipe. When restarted, it idles normally for 10-20 seconds and then increases again. I don't want to jump to any conclusions at this point, and I do not have experence with small engines; however, I'm pretty good with Ford FEs. I appreciate any help/advice!
  13. 2005 yamaha bruin 4x4 just found this website this happened 09/13/2010 at my brothers house. I had it chained with a 3/8" chain and lock and someone bolt cut my lockoff and stold the ATV. This was not my ATV my brother lives in a location right beside a major roadway and happened between 3pm and 4pm in the day, I was just trying to sell it for someone and now its gone it has been reported as stolen but I haven't seen it yet again. I am offering a $500 reward for it. More...
  14. i recently inherited this bike it has set in a garage for about 2 years, fuel was drained and all precautions taken.however when i try to start it the small electric box under the seat clicks. nothing happens when i turn the key to run, when i connect a small trickle charger to it , and turn the key on the neutral light comes on and the lights work.without the charger hooked up NOTHING.with the charger hooked up when i hit the start button i get the clicking noise.i suspect the battery but would appreciate other opinions. thanks chuckb.
