  1. Hi, I'm having a serious issue with my 99 lakota. Earlier today I went to go for a ride and when I put it in gear it stalled out in gear for whatever reason, now it will not go back into neutral, when trying to get it out of gear a friend and myself pushed the quad back and fourth and I managed to get the gears to shift all the up to 5th but going back down it shifted really soft into 2nd and will not get to 1st or neutral. So I decided to tear apart the engine, I'm reading the Clymers manual to check for things that may be wrong, I'm thinking possibly the shifter and the star gear that shifts the gears might not be connecting correctly. to even look at that I have to remove both the primary and secondary clutches. The Clymers manual tells me to remove the primary by first removing the recoil starter and hold the rotor bolt to unscrew the clutch bolt. When I tried that the rotor bolt broke loose, so I decided to try to hold the rotor still and that is spinning. So now both of those ideas/methods have failed and I'm plum out of ideas on how to get that nut loose, then I'll have the same issue with the nut on the secondary clutch. According to Clymers the clutch nut is torqued to 107 ftlbs the only other thing I can think of is jamming the sprockets but thats not an option cause they will more than likely break a tooth or more. Anyone have any ideas on what I can try to do? The way it's looking now the bike is done Thanks
  2. I am having so many proublems with my Lakota 300. Can't seem to get the timing right for some reason. Havn't been able to get it to start for some while. Does anyone know of a sit where I can download a free manual. All I can find is a manul for a KLF 300 and I don't know if I can use this manual for the Lakota. Any help would be great. Thank You!!!!!
  3. got a lakota 300 the quad runs but when i kill the engine the clutch spins and stop DEAD making this loud CLUNK sound any idea what could b wrong this also cause it to die while riding
  4. ok i got a problem i put all new clutch plates in my lakota now when i went to put on the 4 blots (clutch basket)2 of them snapped and now i gotta really get into mega high rpms in order for it to shift and SOMETIMES i gotta stay on the gas while holding up,let off the gas and the level goes up NOW my question is could those 2 bolts have anything to do with the problem ? it never did this before
  5. Hi, I'm wondering does anyone know what size socket is needed to get the ball joints out of the A frame? I've tried using a large adjustable wrench which just falls off of the 1/8" thick nut and the same went for a big pair of channel locks. I'm guessing you have to have a socket to turn it. Also when I removed the bolt from the lower ball joint there was a groove in the center of the bolt, does this groove supposed to be there? to me it looks like it's been worn out or grinded perhaps, I know on some cars the balljoint bolt is supposed to have a egg shaped groove in them to help keep the balljoint from freely rotating. Thanks
  6. Curious what is the main function of the stator? I hooked an ohm meter to mine and the values are off from what is noted in the Clymer book. I am having some running issues with the bike but it's not too bad, mainly the bike does not like steep hills The hill it refuses to climb is (on a clock between 1-2 o'clock) it'll go about 1/2 way and lose all power. on the other had the hill next to it varies between 1-3 o'clock and is a little bit of a longer ride I can climb that with no problem. other than that after the bike has been rode for awhile say an hour or so I get some (but not always ) hesitation and slight backfiring in gears 1 & 2 every thing runs smooth in gears 3-5 I started checking all of my electrical system and so far the stator is the only thing with mismatched numbers. I have not tried the rectifier test yet for I don't have 3 12v batteries to run the test. The only thing I can figure that is wrong with the bike possibly causing my power loss is from the stator, but without knowing what it's actual purpose is, I can't say that for sure. Thanks BTW. the bike in question is a 99 lakota
  7. So my Lakota Sport isn't running right. It starts and idles fine but gags out (doesn't die) when I hit the throttle unless I go super slow and once I get to the high revs I can play with the throttle all i want. I have so far; put in new gas, cleaned air filter, cleaned carb, changed spark plug, adjusted throttle cable, valves were adjusted about a year ago with only a couple rides on it. Any ideas?
  8. Can someone please post instructions on how to set the timing.
  9. 2003 Kawasaki Lakota Sport 300, runs perfect, there's nothing wrong w/ it at all, I change the oil and clean the air filter after every 3-4 times of riding. Tires hold air, but the tread on the back ones are worn. I love this ATV, and the only reason I'm selling it is because I want something a little bigger (trx450r). The Lakota is made to have fun on, or bolt on racks and use as a utility ATV. I can send pictures, just call or email me. I'm asking $2300 OBO. (405) 485-8895. E-mail: [email protected]
  10. My 03' Lakota sport has never been taken apart but it's leaking oil. It's on the left side of the bike and looks like maybe the gaskets are failing. It doesn't seem to leak except when I am riding, and it's not enough that I have to add more, it just makes a mess of the bike. Anyone else had this problem? Should I get it taken care of asap? It doesn't leak while parked. It doesn't leak while running. It ONLY leaks while I am riding:huh:.
  11. I am looking for new parts and aftermarket parts of my 03' Lakota Sport (kef300-b3). On the aftermarket stuff I am looking for a bigger gas tank and the rear and/or front racks. Does anyone know a place I can find this stuff, preferably used so it's cheaper? or any other aftermarket stuff for this bike?
