I have a issue where the quad starts and runs but will not shut down with the key or kill switch.

If memory serves, there should be a black wire with a white stripe coming out of the CDI box. It may turn into solid black. This is the ignition kill circuit. When you turn on the key switch, handlebar switch to run and the safety tether is in place, this wire is grounded. In other words the wire must be grounded in order for the machine to run. When you turn the key switch off or the tether is pulled off, this circuit is opened, thus shutting down the engine. Since yours won't turn off i'd be suspect of that circuit be grounded all the time for some reason. Either a pinched wire, bad switches or somebody has been in there. A quick test would be to disconnect the black w/white stripe wire at the CDI box and see if the motor dies or if it quits sparking. Then all you have to do is check the circuit and find the fault.

So my parents have not let me get my license yet and I need to get around to gets parts and stuff.  Answer: Yamaha CW50 scooter.  This is a 2-cycle self-mixing scooter that so far, I am really surprised with the power output and speed.  It reaches about 45mph since the speedo has been disconnected and has plenty of power for two riders.  Its stupid looking, but with some work and a title and plate, it'll take me around town..  My issue is this:  No key.  I bought it for $150 from a friend and he bought it from someone for $100 who wired in a switch in place of the ignition.  That guy got it form his neighbor who's renter left it behind.  The scooter will run with this switch on or off (kill switch on handlebar kills engine)  To get it tiled and a plate so its road worthy, I need to get the ignition working either by a replacement key or a new ignition.  All wires are cut to the ignition and the switch turned on the power to the signal light switch.  Also, the 2-cycle oil was leaking out the carb, through the air filter and onto the scooter.  also, it runs great, but its making blue smoke with throttle and the muffler is wet with oil.

(I have new signal lights for it btw)  So the issues I have with it summed up:
No key (need new ignition) smokes burnt out headlight-  can I replace them with LEDs?

I have a 2000 Polaris Xplorer with the 250 two stroke motor
It does not want to start with the electric start, the motor cranks fast, the battery is good, and there is good spark when cranking. The engine starts perfect when using the pull cord, it even starts if I pull the cord slowly and starts with one pull. The engine idles smoothly once started. My wife says she needs the electric start to work.

I have bought a 1996 suzuki king quad 300 and I have noticed that it smokes but I have put oil in it and plenty of gas had to fix shifter bc the nuts and bolts came out somewhere. I have had to replace the wire for the starter but now when I try to start it it wont idle at all and when it does run it smokes really bad like a whitish blue I guess, and it likes to stall a lot. So anybody can help me out please and thank you
