Question for the mx racers?

Recommended Posts

What exactly do you guys get as far as prizes and money goes for winning races and season championships?

When I raced it was just trophy, as far as I know the only people that make REAL money are the pros.

I've been in races and won like a $500 prize, but nothing crazy.

yupppers...basically, as with most racing, even GNCC harescramble racing...unless your a pro, you're not making money...however companies do sponsor the "little guys"...

LIKE ME :) So, If I continue to do well, I can get more sponsorships...which is usually discounts/free stuff....

So you're not winning money, but you can still race, and you're not spending as much money....

Hope that helps?! I've raced both MX and Harescrambles...MX you get trophies mainly, Harescrambles you get plaques...

Just trying to find out why we can't get more people to flattrack racing. Seems like the risks out number the rewards for mxing and the rewards out number the risks for flattrack racing.

Mini quad: 50% payback + trophy for 1-3, @ every race. The top 3 in the championship points get stuff from my sponsors including free oil for oil changes, t shirts, airbrush work, & parts @ my dealer cost.

Beginner quad:50% payback + trophy for 1-3, @ every race. The top 3 in the championship points get stuff from my sponsors including free oil for oil changes, t shirts, airbrush work, & parts @ my dealer cost.

Pro-Am: 80% payback + 1st place trophy every race, top 3 in the points get the same as above with a free port & polish to the winner, & hoosier jacket.

Open-Pro: 120% payback + trophy for 1st place, top 3 in points get the same as above again with the port @ polish, and hoosier jacket.

Our trophies for the championships are 6" tall for 1st and shorter for 2-3rd.

All racers get Hoosier tires @ cost.

the big prizes come when you race a whole series. if you participate a lot in a race series, they're more apt to give you better "prizes."

so, to get the good stuff, find a decent series to race, and stick with it, the whole season...have fun with it!!!

I have done many many full seasons with Whiplash racing in Arizona. I had minor sponsors, paid entry fee, gas, basic stuff like that. Anything helps! Only the pros got the good stuff. Johnny Cambell and David Knight actually did a few races in the circuit. Shows you the caliber of the pro class even in that series.

      Hey all,
It's been a while since I posted.  Fan trouble and the replacement I sourced on amazon is still working great on my 2005 Suzuki KQ700.
Unfortunately this year I lost my outdoor best friend.  He's that go to guy for everything … the day run, may walleye opener, last minute hey my boat's at work get your a$$ over here with your rod and let's go kinda buddy.   I bought the quad last year in March and with him gave it the once over and prepped it for fall hunting season, but cancer took him before we could enjoy this new aspect of outdoor life.  We planned an October trip into the bush with our quads guns and tent trailer.   It never happened.   A tribute to our fallen and lost.... But in their memory take the opportunity to grasp every minute of the outdoors you can, life is short... you can sleep at the end...
I've curious what everyone has been doing to prep for the spring season.  I mounted my battery and the quad started up straight and easy, just powered it up once or twice to juice the injectors and it fired up after a couple of seconds.  I let it run, confirmed fan started, checked charge voltage.  all good. I did all my oils in the fall to make sure no water was present anywhere so skipped that this spring.
So what have I done over the winter to prep for quadding?  I've been researching.  This year I am going to cross over quading with brook trout fishing.  So I have been pouring over my old maps from my youth, google maps... looking for those faint markings of trails I can't travel in my F150 (well not yet, paint still looks pretty good ).

The highly anticipated Daytona ATV Supercross (ATVSX) was no disappointment to the Pro racers, as well as the many spectators that filled the grandstands to watch the day unfold.

The 2016 ProX ATV Motocross National Championship (ATVMX) presented by CST Tires, an AMA National Championship, concluded today, September 9, after the twelfth and final round was held at the Soaring Eagle Casino and Resort (SECR) in Mount Pleasant, Michigan. Sunny conditions made for a great day of racing as Wienen Motorsports/Yamaha/Maxxis/SSi Decals/Walsh Racecraft/FLY Racing’s Chad Wienen and Maxxis/Liquid Wrench/Elka Suspension/Honda’s Joel Hetrick went head-to-head for the coveted National Championship.

      Greetings,
I have a 1998 Yamaha big bear 350, new to this. When its cold it is very difficult to shift. Once its warm its ok, however, my old feet don't like the shifting. I saw on ebay a hand shifter conversion kit. Any advice, I live in the Low Country of SC no hills, I use the machine around the farm for corning and scouting.
      Thanks,
      Jim

Long story short, I have an lt160 with a quad racer swingarm. It needs new front pivot bearings. Whoever swapped the swingarm used pipe and stacks of washers to space it but it still seemed to have quite a bit of play. My question is how would I go about spacing it more "legit"?. It's just going to be a beater for around the farm but I don't want it totally cob jobbed. From the looks of it, it's just a matter of aligning it, measuring and finding something to shim the gaps. Correct me if I'm wrong or if there's a better or proper way to go about this. Also not sure what I would use for spacers. Any help/tips would be appreciated. Thanks.

Found and 1986 lt160f that has had the head removed. Firstly, the engine has sat outside in the elements for a long period of time. The timing chain is rusty but their appears to little or water in the oil. Do you think that it is worth salvaging and if so, what would you do to motor to remove the rust. Thanks
