2008 Yamaha Big Bear 400 neutral light not working most of the time.

Recommended Posts

I need to figure out how to clean/fix or replace my neutral switch assembly On my 2008 Yamaha big bear 400 as generally the neutral light doesn’t come on when it is in neutral. To get it to come on I have to wiggle the foot shifter and hold it in just the right spot.
I have googled it and can’t find much on the 400’s. I can’t find a service manual online and the parts manual is super vague.

I think it is in the right side engine cover area, but not certain.

Any help would be great. thanks

Scott

Most likely  it  is  the same switch located in the same place as in earlier  models.  There  are  Big Bear 400  manuals  in the  download section ..  Check   them  out  for  the placement  of  your  switch .. It  may  be  something as simple  as a  bad ground .

Thanks for your response davefrombc, but it looks like the older switches were on the outside of the engine/transmission but in 2007 there was changes when it went to irs. So I think it got moved and there is no manual that I can find for 2007 or newer?

I have a 02 Warrior i am trying to build a wiring harness i have looked in the manual and  i am confused... the pick up has 2 wires.  W/R W/G The source rotation coil has 2 wires. One is Red other is white/blue. The manual shows the  the white and blue wire connected to the w/g  right after the stator... so why is these 2 wires connected?  Does not show w/b wire at cdi
i have looked at many options with no luck if someone has a 2002-2004 warrior and can take a pic of the wires and location at cdi i would really appreciate it. Thanks

Disconnected the plow yesterday on my 2004 Yamaha Grizzly 660 and am getting ready to do some riding yesterday and the battery went weak, Starter cranked a few times but week. Put my trickle charger on that I bought and went to the garage today to start it up, but the starter is just spinning and not engaging. The solenoid is clicking. The pull start sucks and is hard to pull (never use it and need to look into that). Quick video of the starter spinning. Could it be the starter or  the starter clutch one-way bearing? I guess I need to take the cover off to see what's going on.
