if you count used, my atc90 may take the prize! will have pictures on tomorrow...been in a barn for ?? years [it was born in 1969] painted lite blue, including the seat! By the texture I would say they used a BROOM hehe. parts missing, etc, it's a real gem right now.

For new only I'd agree with the 700xx.

First of all, I gotta say I like how the Banshee is in both best looking and worst looking polls! Funny!

I think the worst looking quad is the new King Quad 400. Butt ugly. Looks like they designed it in 30 seconds. The 700XX and DS650 are pretty ugly, but the KQ400 takes the prize in my books.

fan.

their just ugly as sin.

Well, I guess you might have a point. I see you own a Polaris... so I need to look at the DS from your point of view:

I see what you mean. It's not all that attractive from the back. You should see the front of it some time. You might have better luck if you sneak up on it while it's parked.

ha. your funny.

better check who has the fastest stock quad on the market.

I have to at least try and defend my toy's honor! If I remember correctly, the Zilla was/is the fastest stock atv ever produced. I haven't seen any scientific or reliable speed tests to know what quads tops the charts these days. I'd like to see some if you know of any. My rough speed test on the stock DS650X was 79 mph on level pavement with little to no wind and a 230 pound 6'8" rider according to GPS.

I don't have the gps logs to prove it but that's the number it ran according to a Garmin. That's not a perfect speed measure but I didn't bring the clock with me that day  Anyone can talk about what is fast and who had what friend do what test on what day with a given situation... but the only reliable tests are those that are perfectly controlled or calculated.

I'm over the virtual fist fight on forums... I've posted enough and read enough to know where these go, so you're the boss. 79 on a ds... no way! What was I thinking. I probably meant 59.

Anyway, I would like to see what the newer quads do from the factory.

whatever floats your boat buddy.

btw how is throwing around all that weight?

I looked at all of the sport quads when I was shopping around. Everything felt like a toy to me. The image of a gorilla on a tricycle comes to mind. The DS650 was the only machine beefy enough to make me feel at home. Yes, it is heavier and wider than most quads, but I'm taller and heavier than most guys. It's a good fit. I've never had a problem running through trails or the track with guys (or gals) on smaller machines. I like to think it has to do with the skill in the helmet, not the frame... but that would just be a "cocky can-am owner" speaking... so I would never say such things.

The DS was unfortunately not a hit with the masses and can-am has gone a different route with new machines aimed at the core ATV market. It makes sense. The DS650 was aimed at a niche market that soon found itself saturated and 650's ended up sitting on show room floors. I even had a hard time finding my DS. I had to drive 4 hours to the nearest dealer only to find the DS in the show room with a dead battery since no one had given it any loven in a while. It was like finding a diamond laying on the ground while walking down the street... for 4 hours. I think there were angels singing when I sat on it for the first time. Hard to say... it was all a blur that involved me writing a check for a machine with a dead battery.

From Can-Am's point of view, it would have been stupid to leave the 650 on the market. It was better to stop production and leave the 650 resting securely in record books and the hearts and minds of the few, the proud, the ones able to call themselves... DS650 owners! :cute:

Let's simmer down a little bit there TB. Actually 79 on the"mighty" DS650 isn't that impressive.

I clocked my TRX450 by my garmin GPS at 79mph. I was on a flat dirt road that went right next to the freeway. Speed limit on I-70 is 75mph. I was passing traffic. Same thing with me, I never saved the GPS log but I do have it on video.

downfour47304 and TB, please take you issues to a PM.

It's a bit out of hand with all the "physically and mentally challenged" pics. This is an ATV community, please stick to the topics at hand or create your own group to post that stuff in the GROUPS SECTION.

No hijacking threads for personal battles!

and its not a battle.

I have a 97 Yamaha Timberwolf and it is beyond loud, is there any good options to silence them or at least make them bare able to drive. I know it has a crack in the exhaust pipe, but even with that fixed its still loud.

Heres my story. Kinda long. I guess I was a late bloomer when it comes to quads. I had never ridden a quad in my life. Rode Dirt Bikes as a kid growing up. Back in Oct of '06 I found a Mustang on craigslist. Took it for a test drive one morning before work. Fast car. 351 Cleveland. I had planned on meeting the guy again after work. For some strange reason thats still to this day beyond me, I stopped in Hillsboro MotoSports on the way home from work. I had 6 Grand on me. There was a left over '05 sitting by the front door. It was on sale for $4999. It was $5499 OTD. I didnt even look at anything else. I knew nothing about quads accept I thought it really looked coool and I had the money in my pocket to buy it. I was sitting on it when the salesman walked up and asked... "Can I help you?" Without hestitation I pulled 60 Ben Franklins outta my front pocket and said "I want this Quad. Load it up in my truck." It was just about dark by the time I drove away from the shop. BTW, I didnt bother to ask my ol lady if I could buy it. LOL. Anyway, I took it by the house and showed her. She was kinda stunned but not mad. We drove over to a friend of mines house and unloaded it. I took it to the field across the street from his house. HOLY CHIT!!!!! I was surprised by the power. I had it for about 2 weeks and took it to Sand Lake. I was there a few hours and rolled it on a banked turn at the top of the bowl right before you get to the one-ways. When it rolled, I flew off and landed on my belly. The quad came bouncing and landed on my back. For a month I couldnt even walk. I was scared of it. I considered trading it for a 250EX. Went back to the shop. The salesman said..."Dude!!! You dont want a 250EX!!! Trust me. Just get used to it" I still wasnt convinced. I put it on craigslist for $4000. Calls were coming in. I had a guy that wanted to come look at it that evening. I decided to take it for one last ride at Browns Camp before I sold it. I was still afraid of it. After about 5 minutes I started feeling comfortable on it again. I decided right then, I loved my Honda 450 and would learn how to ride it instead of selling it. That was late Nov of '06. Work was slow for a Painter in Oregon. My new job everyday? Going to Browns Camp and ridding my Quad. I bought my Girl Friend an '02 Blaster. I rode my 450 for 4-6 hours almost every single day for 3 months. And yes, I know my way around Browns Camp pretty well. LOL. In March I bought her an '06 TRX250EX (Thank God I didnt trade my 450 for one of those) LOL Since then, I have become totally addicted to quads. I love them. Couldnt imagine not owning at least one quad. Luckily I have two. My "07 was $6500 OTD in July of '07. Bought it for my Girlfriend. Traded in her 250 EX. A month later we broke up. So, I wound up with two Honda 450's.

My 2008 can-am Outlander 800r is having hard shifting issues. Does anyone have a fix for this ?
    • By Am2007
      Hi everyone,
Outlander 2006 400 XT i have replace the startor cover and right after i did that the oil light is on and not turn off, i check the wires and checked the oil level, everything seem to be normal quad is starting without any problem and rev just fine. i did not want to ride it since im not sure if it is faulty sensor or not so just be safe i did not let it run more the a minute or so.
I have read in the owner manual that i need to clean the oil strainer every 200hr unfortunately i never did that, my service manual that i have does not even indicate of such a thing. so i did some search around and it seem like canam split the manual into 3 parts
      owner manual
      service manual
      engine manual
I have the first 2 but i can not find the last one, part number 219100232. If someone can guide me where do i find the oil strainer so i can clean it i will appreciate it.   im going to do an oil pressure test tomorrow to check how many PSI i have, just to make sure.
      Thanks

I am in the process of puting it back together after replacing the DPS gearbox.
The manual I have states that it will need to be flashed by a dealer. Is this still true?
Also , I have a mystery bolt That I cannot remember where it goes. M6x 70 or so.  Hex head with a flat washer.I will try to attach a pic.
Pic is no go for now....Cox issue I will try again later
      TIA
