Please help with wiring on a Honda 200M

Recommended Posts

I am trying to install a motor from a 200S on my 200M. It is supposed to be the same thing without the starter. On my 200M, there is a black/red wire (from alternator), which the 200S has also. On my 200M, there are 2 yellow wires, which I think go to the regulator. On the 200S there is a yellow wire and a green wire (from alternator). The 200S has no regulator and no neutral wire. My question is what do I do with the 2 yellow wires from the 200M bike, and the 1 yellow and 1 green from the 200S motor? I'm assuming all these wires are to get the alternator to work. Sorry I could not figure out how to post the wiring diagram from the 200M, the whole manual is to big. Thanks

I would just swap the stator form the original motor into the new one. You could just keep the chargind system intact, that way you could run the lights without starting the vehicle. You could probably swap the starting system to the other motor by swapping some hardware with it, ie. starter, side cover, flywheel etc.

If there is some reason you can't or don't want to do that, the wires that come from the stator would go to the ignition and the lights. The colors may be different, but the plugs are probably set up the same. If you have a diagram for each motors electrical, you should be able to figure out what goes where. As far as the regulator goes, if you don't have a charging system, you don't need it. I would just remove it from the bike if you aren't going to use the battery and charging system.

Thank you very much for your response. Man, you really got me thinking now. Ideally, I would love to be able to take the electric starter from the old 200M and put it on the 200S, but I don't know if it is possible. I know the flywheels are different, because I can't take the recoil starter from the 200M and put it on the 200S. Is the starter gear assembly deal that the recoil starter bolts to able to be swapped? If so, what would I do with the neutral light wire, because I don't see a neutral sensor on the 200S.

I tried to see if I could put the electric starter on the 200s, but it could not be done. I'll just find a used recoil starter for the 200s, because the motor I bought did'nt come with one. I'll just get it running first, and then I'll see about getting the lights to work. I know the green wire from the 200s stator goes to ground according to the diagram I found on 3wheelerworld. I would like to leave the regulator the way it is, because I plan on hopefully repairing the 200m motor. Any more help with wiring would be appreciated.

I would just swap the stators and use the regulator. The problem is that the regulator is also a rectifier, which changes the A/C current that comes from the stator into D/C current, so the electrical systems are completely different. If you can swap the stator from the electric start motor into the pull start motor, you can just wire it up the way it is supposed to be.

I'm outfitting my middle aged '02 Taurus with a new starter and need some advice on what brand starter to get. I'm tempted to get this reman Motorcraft, the fourth one down in the orange remanufactured section.
For $123 that seems reasonable for a OE reman. If not this one I'll probably be going for a reman of another brand so why not go OE?
The other reman options I'm seeing at the car stores are...
      Napa brand
      Driveworks at Advance
Should I go with the Motorcraft or one of these? $123 sounds almost too good although I really don't know.

Have a Bayou 400. sometimes when I press the start button i hear the solenoid click but the starter does not engage. Here is the strange thing though, when that happens if I kick the kick start just once then press the start button starter engages normally. Any ideas?

I have a 2000 Polaris Xplorer with the 250 two stroke motor
It does not want to start with the electric start, the motor cranks fast, the battery is good, and there is good spark when cranking. The engine starts perfect when using the pull cord, it even starts if I pull the cord slowly and starts with one pull. The engine idles smoothly once started. My wife says she needs the electric start to work.

Went shopping on Saturday, picked up another Kawasaki Bayou 220 and a Yamaha Timber Wolf 250
I really should sell some of these but they are a lot of fun to find, fix and ride
Of course neither of them run but that's part of the fun!  Az

Im working on a old 1987 honda 125 4 wheeler in the school shop. It will start by getting pulled by another 4 wheeler but wont start with the pull start or Electric Start. When you pull start it it tries to start but when you try the electric start it just turns over but doesnt even act like it wants to start. The spark plug is dry and it shoots fuel out of the back(air filter side) of the carb. Weve had the carb off twice and it is complety clean. What are some things we can try?

I bought a Honda 250sx 1986 but the exhaust is broken. Apparently it's not possible to order a new one. I checked to order one on others compagny but there's noting.
Do you know which exhaust it's possible to install. Is there a company who sold an exaust to fit on my 250sx.
      Sorry for my english
      Thank you

Hope someone can help with this one.
We took our 1984 Honda TRX 200 to the shop and they had it for about 2 weeks before they finally called and said that they had cleaned the carb and changed the battery and that it had started up.
We went and got it and when we got home it would not start so we called them, they said bring it back in, so we did. They called us the next day and said they changed the spark plug, and that it was running. We went and got it again and it ran when we drove it off the truck.
We parked it for about an hour because we were going to get ready to go on a ride. Well, it wouldnt start again.
So we called them and they said the last thing they could do was order a new CDI box and put that on. I decided to just buy it myself, so I didnt have to pay them labor again. We put the new one on today and its still not starting.
Does anyone have any ideas on what we could check to see what in the world is going on with this thing?
      Please and Thank you

ok it will start up an run but quits a lot till it gets warm, but has a bad miss an wont idle, I have a brand new Honda carb on it, good gas flow, new plug, but when I let the throttle go below a quarter, it backfires through carb an tail pipe:confused: so it has never had any electrical work or mechanical work done...it just started all the sudden, I'm think it may have ignition coil breaking down, or cdi box going bad...anyone had this trouble before? let me know what you did to fix it. thanks:skeptic:
