want ltr 450 quadracer (should i get one)

Recommended Posts

I have an '07, and I love it. It is a bit heavy, but you get sturdiness in exchange for that extra weight. Also, even though it is heavier than the other 450's it still hauls ass. I don't think it is a coincidence that the last two GNCC titles and the last 3 AMA ATV MX titles have been taken by riders on an LT-R. It is a bit wide for trail riding, but I have gotten used to riding it in the woods, if you ride on tracks or more open areas, the extra width is nice. The one thing I don't like, is that it is kind of a pain to work on. Everything is crammed pretty tight in this machine, on the other hand, I know that the Honda 450 is much easier to work on, everything on that machine is pretty simple and easily accessible.

My friend has one and he says it was just vibrating like crazy. Personally I don't know, but other then that I agree there pretty awesome right off the showroom floor.

The LT-R is a great machine, DD about the Suzuki racing teams, they also have the top 4 riders in the 2 catagories of racing.

The only "negative" thing I have seen on the LT-R is that if your battery is not charged 100% the fuel injection won't work. My buddy left his key on, drained the battery. There was no bump starting it on the trail.

True, they do have some great riders, but those riders also never took home championships in previous years when they rode different machines. Creamer never won on a Kawasaki, and Borich never won on a Yamaha. Another thing to note, if you look at the GNCC standings, the only other Suzuki rider never placed higher than 10th and only placed 12th overall. However, Borich won 11 out of 13 races and placed 2nd and 3rd in the only two races he didn't win. Also a fact that more riders ride Hondas and Yamahas in any style of racing.

I was warned about keeping the battery in shape by the dealer when I bought mine, just for that reason. They recommended that I put the battery on a trickle charger once a month and to turn the key off anytime the motor isn't running so the fan doesn't drain the battery. I haven't had any problems even though I have never put it on a charger, but I haven't left my key on either.

Just bought 06 KingQuad 700 and first ride out hit a mud hole, not to deep and it shut off and would not start.
Got it home and found the spark plug hole was full of mud and water. Went and bout a new spark plug and began cleaning it out. Put a deep socket in there and it wouldn’t grab. Took a pic with my flash and this is what I see. Any suggestions? And what is it??

previous owner said it had a new coil so that’s why I decided to change out the spark plug, also ordered new coil should be here by the weekend.

I had to adjust the valves on this 500 (and  few other things) and I'm trying to get the cam timing right, and something is really out-of-whack here. It seems anyway. When I line up the dots like the service manual describes, the lobes on the 2 cams are in almost in the same position. According to the manual (and a youtube vid or 2) the lobes should be at aproximatley 10 oclock on the int and 2 oclock on the exhaust. These are nowhere near that. There must be a woodruff type key on the sprockets. I wonder if those are sheared off? Thanks for any input!

I know this tooic has been addressed by many, I’ve looked through many forums and pages. I did not find anything like the problem i have.
I have a 2007 Kingquad 450. I have a new fully charged battery. When i turn the key, the dash flashes and seems to struggle before getting fully lite. We can hear a small relay near the computer clicking, i think it is the fuel pump relay. When i turn off the engine kill switch and press the starting button relays click and all the power shuts off, i turn the key off, engine kill switch then start over, power is there. Atv will start with pull start, but not elextricly. if i try to use my winch, all power cuts and engine dies.

Can anyone tell me what it may be? or has anyone fsced an issue like this before?

I have a 2018 Kodiak 450 EPS that just this past Sunday I ran through a bit of water.
After the puddle the belt was slipping, so I pulled over and drained the ultramatic housing and the slipping problem went away. This was all in L and everything seemed to work fine. Later when I got on a road, I put it in H, but it still rode like it was in low... i.e. I had to rev it up a lot just to get to 30mph.
When at home I pulled the ultramatic cover off to inspect, and it looked okay in there. Not much dirt, belt and everything are clean, but when I rev up the engine (with cage in place, of course), the belt doesn't get to the top of the clutch (maxes out about an inch or 1.5" from top of clutch, so maybe it is normal).. I put it back together but same thing... H seems like L still.
Do you think the clutch needs to be further dissected for cleaning, or could this be an issue with the gear selector?

I have a 2018 450 and the digital gause has started flashing on an off while driving. The backlit also goes on and off. It is worse when I hit the gas. The battery died a few weeks ago and I jumped it but its been fine until last night. Called the dealer and showed them a vid and they recommend replacing the gauge and its like 600 bucks. The machine has less than 100 hours on it. I would really hate to have to change it out. also the unit sometimes has trouble starting. Any ideas?
