How old were you when you got your first ATV and what kind was it?

Recommended Posts

I was 50.  a used 2005 Suzuki King Quad 700.  I wasted a lifetime without it.  I've got a post in here somewhere that describes the feeling of exploring for the first time.  I really kicked myself in the a$$ for not doing it much much sooner.  For what I am going to use it for … trailer exploration, getting to fishing holes, putting along trails for birds and bunnies, it is likely going to last me a lifetime.  My only concern being my age and the age of the quad and its reliability as I do much of our outings solo.  Regardless how small the outing I am always prepared to spend the night.  My advice to those who are on the fence... do it, you will have it for years... and the cost of that entertainment /hr keeps going down each time you use it.  especially if you have friends to go with... man... the years I wasted not being able to get to the back country and having to share the spaces with everyone in a car or truck.  something smaller would have probably been better a 450/500 maybe vs the 700 (though to pull over on a dead batter, will get tougher as I get older.  My overnight kit has a spare deep cycle and solar panel.

Just do it! Unless of course that is the money you need to feed your kids and wife with !

I was 12 years old when my parents bought me a new 1984 Honda 200s ATC. I dumped it upside down in the pond first weekend I had it

That's cool that you both started off on 3 wheelers. Never owned one and only rid one once.

polaris sportsman coming through once again........

I was 15 (16 now) when I got a 97 kawasaki bayou 300.  lets just say it taught me a lot and I sold it before it taught me more....

bsought it for $1000 (dumb move), sunk $1800 into it, and sold it for $800

Does anyone use GPS, whether on a device or app to record their ATV trail rides? I have been thinking about a section where our members can upload let's say a .gpx file and share their rides on a google map for others to see where there are riding areas. Not sure if this is something of interest or how much it would be used, so just trying to get an idea.

So we are almost a month into winter and I've been so busy working on my house that up until today, I didn't realize that we just haven;t gotten any real snow yet to warrant putting the plow on my grizzly. So that got me thinking, what are the latest plows out there and what ATV plows are the best? I've got 2 snow plows for my grizzly, a quadboss pile driver atv plow set up and a snowsport ATV plow. They are both a bit dated now and I tend to stick with the snowsport due to ease of use and I just like it so much. So if you have a plow on your ATV, please let us know what it is and post a picture with your atv/plow would be awesome. Would also like to know what you like and dislike about it.
This is back a while when I did a write up on these 2 plows.... in 2009 I got the snowsport and in 2012 I got the quadboss.
