Hi Ox noob on here

Question & request - buddy has a 1995 Big Bear 350 2 x 4 chassis num # 4UH 017286 1995 # I have the YFM 4 x 4 manual & wondered if they did one for the 2 wheel drive as it runs like a cripple dog, tried carb settings for 4 x 4 but no joy.

TIA

all i have is the 4x4 on page 1 of this thread, post #3. i know the carbs are a real pain to get right, i had to do mine about 8 or 9 times before it was right. not sure if the specs would differ that much ...

Ox

Appreciate your reply, that was my thoughts also but may need to try messing with needle height & Pilot jat a bit more, unfortunately I am not the firsy person to look at the machine so will have to strip carb myself & check all gaskets & diaphram etc yhen take it from there, forgot to mention this is a Euro model also so could be different specs due to temps & altitude here etc.

One other point would the carb being out of adjustment cause occassional backfiring when trying to rev engine or is it possibly Ignition related ?

Grateful for all comments though

Cheers....... Fishy

i think if the bike is back firing, there is too much air mixing with the gas. i could be wrong, but i thought that is the problem. check the rubber manifold from the carb going to the block for leaks and cracks. you can spray some quick start while the bike is running at that location and if the bike changes rpm, that's the problem ... anyone else on here have an opinion? please share ...

OK, thank you anyway. I already tracked it down to a dirty headlight switch and cleaned the contacts. I have seen this type of plastic before, avoid contact cleaner spray! No idea what the next thing will be, got to ride it a while and see.

Just got a new to me, 99 Kodiak w/ plow and an extra set of tires for dirt cheap. I'm curious where you guys purchase your parts for your older ATV's? Google is great to find parts, but I'm hoping you guys have some stores, online, that you prefer on a recommendation basis. I've already purchased my tune-up items, but the brakes need some work and I'll likely end up having to replace the steering stem bearing, front CV axles and a few other things down the road.

I have an 04 arctic cat 400 fis 4x4 manual changed the centrifugal clutch,  changed the clutch discs and adjusted the clutch. When shifted into gear forward or reverse it will leap a little but will not go it was moving with the old centrifugal clutch but it was worn out. Any help would be appriciated

It will go into neutral, 1st, 2nd, and reverse but nothing after 2nd gear. The shifter moves freely going up completely nothing but when you shift down it works. I’m not sure if it’s tranny issue worth messing with or if I should just buy a new one.  Overall besides that the thing runs like new.

Howdy y'all. Just bought myself a 2004? Yamaha 400 with electrical Gremlins aplenty. Runs good (after jumping the starter solenoid relay terminals with the helpfully included with the sale pliers) but no fan when my wife's 03 Kodiak 400 had fan and the starter button makes it to the starter solenoid but the ECU side isn't happy. This seems to be a lively forum with manual downloads being supported so hi.
Oh yah, and you can get two Kodiak 400s on a 5x8 trailer... I bought a nice 14' trailer as soon as possible after this.

I am a new atv owner...I bought a used atv this summer (pretty sure it is a wolverine but reg card from last owner didnt actually say that so idk for sure). It ran great for most the summer and early fall but one day I tried starting it and it turned over a while without starting and then suddenly it quit turning over at all. No click or anything.
I charged battery and light turns on showing neutral and heatlight can go on.
A few other things that may be pertinent: The pull start is missing, I have a fluke multimeter but not many other advanced tools (or relevant experience), there is an extra aftermarket led light attached to front but it doesnt work either... never looked into why since I didnt need it.
I looked for a fuse box and didnt find one.
Please recommend some easier things to try first as I really want to avoid taking it in if I can (having one income and 4 kids can keep out extra cash, plus I want to learn). Pictures would be awesome if possible. Thanks!

I have recently rebuilt my Yamaha warrior 350 engine and when I got it all back together with no “spare parts” i went to start it and realized it’s in reverse. I went to put it in drive and the shifter won’t budge, I took the linkage off and tried to use vise grips but it won’t budge at all. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I’m hoping it’s not something internal!

I have a Yamaha Big Bear 350 and the reverse doesn’t work, it shifts from low to high easily but it won’t go back to reverse. I’m new to this stuff, so I’ll take any help. Any ideas?
