One other point would the carb being out of adjustment cause occassional backfiring when trying to rev engine or is it possibly Ignition related ?

i think if the bike is back firing, there is too much air mixing with the gas. i could be wrong, but i thought that is the problem. check the rubber manifold from the carb going to the block for leaks and cracks. you can spray some quick start while the bike is running at that location and if the bike changes rpm, that's the problem ... anyone else on here have an opinion? please share ...

Is there possibly a different manual for a 2000 Big Bear 400 out there? I have the onesin your list, but they are for the 4x4, and I can't tell what sub model they are for, but my 4x2 has drum brakes, and this manual is for disc rear brakes.

thanks!

there must be another one out there. i just don't know why yours would have drums ???

i would run your serial number thru the decoder in the yamaha section, it might be an asian model as opposed to a U.S. or Canadian model ??

is it drums on the back and disc on front??

Sorry for the confusion - I mean that the manual you've posted is for a model with disc rears, and the 4x2's have drums. Mine is a 2000 model USA YFM400M per motoverse's lookup.

I sure could use the service manual for a 87-97 Yamaha Big Bear YFM 350 if you still have it available. Also, do you have or know where I can find a video: clutch replacement and engine rebuild for this ATV? Thanks Quadking

the big bear manual is on this thread, post #3. have you tried youtube for vids? i know there is quite abit for the big bears there ...

If you had to choose one mod that you couldn't live without, or had to recommend one what would it be?

      Hi everyone,
Outlander 2006 400 XT i have replace the startor cover and right after i did that the oil light is on and not turn off, i check the wires and checked the oil level, everything seem to be normal quad is starting without any problem and rev just fine. i did not want to ride it since im not sure if it is faulty sensor or not so just be safe i did not let it run more the a minute or so.
I have read in the owner manual that i need to clean the oil strainer every 200hr unfortunately i never did that, my service manual that i have does not even indicate of such a thing. so i did some search around and it seem like canam split the manual into 3 parts
      owner manual
      service manual
      engine manual
I have the first 2 but i can not find the last one, part number 219100232. If someone can guide me where do i find the oil strainer so i can clean it i will appreciate it.   im going to do an oil pressure test tomorrow to check how many PSI i have, just to make sure.
      Thanks

I am in the process of puting it back together after replacing the DPS gearbox.
The manual I have states that it will need to be flashed by a dealer. Is this still true?
Also , I have a mystery bolt That I cannot remember where it goes. M6x 70 or so.  Hex head with a flat washer.I will try to attach a pic.
Pic is no go for now....Cox issue I will try again later
      TIA
