Just picked up a used Kymco MXU 500 IRS. Found nothing but positive reviews and really enjoyed talking it for a test drive.

Picked this up at the end of October (2014). Ran well up till a couple days ago and now won't start. Turns over, but won't catch. It's been a really cold winter. Put some seafoam in but that didnt seem to help. Any thoughts?

Check plug  for spark and the carb for  fuel.  Seafoam  won't clean  out a plugged  jet if that turns out to be the problem. You'd have to take the carb off and clean  it  thoroughly.  No spark is  harder  to  chase down. First  check the electrical  harness for any loose or corroded/ broken  connections. If  still no  go  you'll  need a service manual to  get the specs on the components , or if you  have access to compatible ones to swap  out one at time  to  find the faulty  one.

The large OEM"s do not use Kymco as a supplier because they suck.

A good friend had a 300cc Kymco scooter he drove to work and back for years. He never had any issue outside of maintenance. If I remember right the last time I talked with him he had over 25k miles on it.

So you say they suck and then say your friend had nothing but a good experience...which is it? They also provided parts for Honda and BMW.

I could have written that better.  Basically the large OEM's use them because they don't suck!

The large OEM's use Kymco because they work. Meet the requirements given to them for production.

Honda would not use them, they are too picky. I have dealt with them when at my time with Bosch.

Thanks for clarifying. Didnt they actually split off from Honda?

Got it started with the pull chord. Wish this thing had a pressure regulator, that pull chord is brutal.
Ran for a few days and now won't start again.
Thinking sparkplug or carb but I'll let the Kymco dealer handle that after seeing where the sparkplug was located.

Popped the headlight and housing right out of the quad doing some riding in the woods...not me, the wife and her brother. Guess they thought it was OK to drive into small trees [emoji89].
It was secured with 4 plastic brackets, 3 of them broke.
I'm having trouble finding a replacement part online.
Headlight still works. Any suggestions for securing it...bungee chords, gorilla tape? Jk

Greeting from Belgium (again..)

you had that one in a thousand that always come even with big brands... but overall kymco is very durable and nicely build. performance wise maybe not in the rank of yamaha but value for money is even better. let's not forget that japanese cost almost twice as much (at least here in EU)... i have kymco maxi scoot that i bought 'by accident' and now i only want to buy kymco. hopefully mxu 300 next week

      Hi everyone.
Let me explain the thread title.
My husband and I are very active in the nudist community, and we have stayed at many and most of the mainstream nudist and clothing optional campgrounds in the USA. We are now approaching our retirement and would like to start a podcast to share those off the road / backwoods / little known camping areas where nudity is allowed. We have purchased a 5th wheel camping trailer with a rear garage for the ATV and now need some good reports on the one to buy.
We are most interested in a side by side unit but would love to get your thoughts.
Feel free to stop by and say Hi and ask anything you would like to better understand what we are looking for in an offroad unit.
Thanks for reading and hope to hear from you.

I have been exploring all the options available, so many, its hard to choose. I have kind of narrowed it down to the Honda Pilot, Subaru Outback, and Kind of looking at the Outlander, although its a little small,  the new one is nice looking. Just wondering if anyone has any recommendations or gripes with any of these rides. I have driven Jeeps for the past 25  years and they have been great, but their price point has gotten to high. Expieriences good or bad would be helpful. Thanks!

Just thought I'd start a new thread for newbies to the site!
If you're new here, tell us who you are, where you're from and what you ride!!!
Lets get to know each other a little better shall we?
I'm not new to the site, obviously, but...
I'm Kristin from Denver!!! I ride a 2008 Yamaha Rhino. She's my muddy baby!!!!!! Several aftermarket parts on her. She's good to me! We try and ride every weekend. This weekend we're off to MOAB! :woot:

This is something I'm extremely curious about. Has anyone ever attempted to buy a quad (or any other vehicle) from an impound lot? I've always wondered if this could be a bargain, or a waste of time. Google searches do turn up some helpful results. Looks like the state of NJ holds auctions online which I'd be a bit hesitant about.

My online searches haven't really turned up any results of anyone buying an ATV this way. I'd be really curious if anyone tried this, or knows someone who has. I've actually found a couple pages with online auctions for my state, but none had ATVs.

Hi, I have been around everything with a motor since I was little, and finally purchased more to get my husband, and kids involved. I have 4 quads I will be searching around for information on. I have two 2002 Suzuki LT80K quads, a 1997 Yamaha Timberwolf 250, and a 1996 Kawasaki Bayou 220. I have had different ones throughout the years, and plan on buying another Yamaha Banshee. I plan on trying to learn more about all of them, so I can customize some of them. I know nothing about them besides how to race them, my dad always took care of the rest, but figured it was time for me to learn.
