  1. In my  Canadian  view on your  election,  if you don't vote you are effectively voting for the worst possible candidate. I  am  not a "them or us"  voter.  I vote for the person  who I think will  best represent  my community, with a secondary regard for the party they represent.   In your  2 party system  that entails voting for  the "wrong party"  at times.

As  I see it , I don't agree with some of the things Biden  has done,  but the  main complaint against him is his age. He still  has control of all  his faculties,  His running mate  appears to me to be capable of doing the job if she has to take over  part way through the term.  I  could fill a data bank listing  tRump's  faults and connections to  Russia, his admiration of  dictators and  his immorality and flouting of   commercial  law and the  tax system. He certainly doesn't represent "Christian  values" as I  know them, I  find it appalling the support he  has among the  Evangelists. Kennedy  is   a nut case even  his family doesn't support and warns against  him.

There is a huge difference between  inadvertently possessing some  "classified"  documents  from  your administration and voluntarily  handing them  over  and  possessing and  sharing with individuals  who  are not unauthorized to see them, and then hiding them to  retain them.  For what  purpose  is a big question you should ask?  From  statements his staff has made,  he quite possibly  still have some stashed away that were  moved  while  the search of  Mar-A-Lago was under way.

Not voting   may  be a  choice, but as I said,  it  is in effect a vote for the worst possible candidate.  This  is the time to  vote for the best  candidate(s) offered despite whether they belong to the "wrong party"  or not.

  2. I  keep 1 or 2 amp  maintainers on all my batteries that aren't used regularly .  One is on my quad,  one on my riding mower, one on a jump stater / air compressor  pack  and one on my 3/4 tom 4x4. They're far cheaper than replacing  batteries that have lost capacity or completely failed  because they sulphated up from  self discharge while the machines sat idle for extended  periods. A battery kept  charged up on a maintainer can  last several years while one allowed to sit at less than  full charge  may  fail  within  a year or two.

  3. I  just finished watching a "Meet the Press" interview with Nikki Haley. Like all politicians she managed to  talk a lot without ever giving a direct  "Yes" or "No" answer to  any question, but I  can say  President Biden  best hope he  has to run against tRump  and not her in November.  Haley  stands head and shoulders above tRump  in  intellect and capability.  Whether she would moderate some of the hard right  stances she has taken  on some issues if she gained the Presidency or  not  is a question but if  she managed to  take the GOP nomination she would be  a very real threat to  a Biden second term and most likely  take it away from him.  The man-child tRump is increasingly  being seen  as the disgusting loser he is; even  among  some of  his old supporters on the far right.

  4. Put the battery on a charger to  charge it right up.. If it was left for a couple of months without a battery maintainer on it the  charge  on it  could have been  very low  and  a 20  minute charge  from  the  quad's system  would not likely bring it to anywhere near a full charge.  I  just did a search on your battery and the recommended battery for your quad.  Your battery is woefully inadequate for that machine.  It  is rated for 120 cold cranking amps  and  likely only 9 amp hours reserve.   Specs for your quad calls for a battery with 210  CCA and 14 Ah reserve.  The little battery  in your scrambler  might start ok  when  the battery is full  charged and in warm  weather , but  in the cold  it is not likely going to do well even  if fully charged.

  5. Yes  he is old-  A year older than me;  but he is still far more aware and capable than tRump.  Fact is tRump  first  tried to  use a run for the Presidential  nomination as a ploy to  put his name out there for business promotion.    Remember his  vow to  spend his own  money  on his  campaign?  When  he actually won the nomination, the GOP  paid all the  campaign  expenses.  When  he actually won the real milking the presidency to  line the pockets of himself  and his family..  Whether you want to believe it or not,  Biden  is  respected  internationally and  tRump is viewed as an  incompetent laughing stock and a threat to  your "democracy".

I too would like to  see younger contenders  but as it is  it looks like  you  are going to have the choice of an old , capable  honest man  and a 4 year "younger" grifter  facing 91 felony charges.

Too funny, someone is misguiding you or you are just extreme left leaning for whatever reason. Keep believing that BS. If you base in simple economics, it was extremely better under Trump. Not a little, but a lot. Just ask any American to tally up what they pay for expenditures, like food, rent, cars, household necessities, taxes, gas… there’s no argument there unless you like paying more for things. Ask a business person which environment was more favorable. Ask my 401K, see what she says….I’m talking average Americans who work and don’t sit on the “system”..

Canada may have a bigger geography, but without the U.S. it would probably be target for Russia, and other countries as a land grab. Let’s be realistic, a strong U.S. is beneficial for Canadians.

The best thing the dems can do is replace Biden and Harris asap. They’re going crazy because they can’t, so the talking points are supposed to fool everyone into believing we don’t have an issue going on here with old man Joe.

Yes  a strong US is beneficial to  Canada; but that is the only thing you got right. tRump will weaken the US,  not strengthen it and by the way , you  golden  god is only 4 years younger than   Biden physically.  Mentally  tRump  is a spoiled brat  2 year old throwing tantrums every time he doesn't get his own  way.

  7. Bull sh** it was better.  tRump  was NOT a strong  President. and the US  has been  far stronger economically and healthwise under Biden.  Get off the extreme right misinformation sites and look up  the real facts.  He was a sucker to the likes of Putin and Xi.
By the way ,  quadmaniac,  I  m  Canadian,  and last time I looked Canada is a lot   larger part of North America physically  but  much  smaller in population.

  8. quadmaniac and johnii  mistake bullshit and bluster for strength..  In fact they are signs of weakness. tRump  would be a gift to  Xi, Putin and Kim.
All they have to do  is stroke his ego and that narcissist wsill give them  everything they want. Really listen to  him.  He wants to  be a dictator;   he  has already praised the 3 big dicttors and  made threats against everyone at home  that appears to  be any threat to  him and said he wants to  be  "Dictator for a day"  and take revenge on all who opposed him..  You accuse  Biden  of being addled but he is not the  one that confused  Nikki Haley  and Nancy Pelosi.   He mixes up states , has claimed there were  aircraft  during the Civil War.  Really listen to  his rants   at  his rallies. Half  of his babble is   incomprehensible. In a way, I  prefer to see tRump running against Biden.  Nikki  Haley  would have a better chance of beating him.

Despite what the right cliams, if you  look at the economics  of the tRump years and Biden's  Biden's administration   has posted far superior numbers for job creation ,  market levels and  every other economic indicator.  He is far more respected and capable  dealing internationally than the sadly laughable tRump.

Yes,  like  many others I would like to see  younger contenders on both sides,  but if the worst happens to  Biden  in the  next 4 years , Kamala Harris  is more than capable  of doing a good job if she had to step into the Presidency.   I shudder to  think  what toady tRump  will  nominate  for a running mate.  He certainly  won't choose anyone he perceives to be capable of being  a threat to  him.

I would like some other international  members here speak  up  with their opinions.. It shouldn't  be only  Mech and me commenting.

What happens in the US  affects us all  in the US's trading community.

  9. There's a huge difference in 91 felony indictments and none. There's a difference between  fomenting an  insurrection because you lost  an d a peaceful handover of power; and there's a difference between  using both the Bible and Constitution as toilet paper  and honoring them  both. But despite all the evidence  MAGAts refuse to believe any of it.

Sorry Johnii,  neither Jacinda nor Justin   have anywhere near the dictatorial  power over  their parties or our nations that an  American President has.  You really need to learn the difference between a  parliamentary  democracy  and your republican  version.

  10. I wonder how many  are going to be able  to  see the truth through all the lies, misinformation and disinformation this election is going to be severely plastered with. The rise of AI  generated crap  is going to  be even  harder for far too many to sort through, especially for those that have great difficulty letting facts interfere with their beliefs.

  11. Cheetah,  Did you  have the entire starter assembly out or just the starter?  On some bikes the sprag ( the part in #4 that looks like a roller bearing) can be put in wrong way round.  Those "rollers"  are actually an oval shape.  Turned in one direction the cam out and jam against the bore they run in  and turn the assembly to  start the motor.  When the motor  runs it is faster than the  starter turns allowing those "rollers"  to  drop down  and free the assembly.

If you had the whole assembly part and  put that sprag in  wrong way round  it would let the starter spin the assembly without locking up and turning the motor over. If that is the case,  testing it like Mech suggested , you'd find  turning the starter shaft forward it  would turn freely but if you turned it  back it would lock up, trying to turn the motor in reversed  rotation.

  12. The large size combination wrenches are handy to  have.. Most  bolts and nuts from about 1" / 25.4 mm up to  2" / 50.8 mm can  be handled by those wrenches without having to  also  have  a set of metric wrenches of the same sizes.  My inner nuts on my Honda  rear axle were either handled by my  1 !/2 wrench also, I  believe..  Like GW,  It was a while ago and I'm not sure which one it was ..  Torque specs are fine  if you  have a specialized torque wrench that you could use, but  not  necessary.  Snugged up  solid , and checked to be sure nothing has loosened up  after a few hours of running  will  do.

  13. Increased resistance at the starter would not cause the voltage drop..  No need to pull the starter to test it .. Take a good battery and  use jumper cables to  connect to ground ad directly to the positive terminal on the starter to see if it spins up properly .  The battery reading dropping to  2 v.... is that the reading at the battery positive post? A  bad connection internally could cause the voltage to drop like that as soon  as the battery is put under load..  Double check all your connections are clean  and tight, and test once more ,  but my money is on either a shorted cell or an break internally  at the positive battery post  that causes it to  only have a minimal connection that will not pass a high current.  Either way , the battery would be toast.

  14. Flooded batteries are fine in stationary and automotive  use where they  are less subjected to the pounding and occasional dumping over as they get in quads and bikes .  SLA are better in ATVs,  but the most reliable in them,, in my opinion,, are the AGMs.  They  have no  liquid that can be spilled when  our  ATVs are ridden  a little too  hard. (We'd  never do that , would we?)  They are far less prone  to any leakage  that could cause corrosion at the terminals or elsewhere near the battery. They  are far less prone to  damage from  vibration and shock  from hard riding.  Kept  charged up  with a maintainer or from frequent use and  parked fully charged between uses they should last as long or longer than  any of the others.  They are a bit more expensive, but I believe their advantages  outweigh the cost.

  15. I assumed Ejwill would recharge the battery before trying to  start the quad  again..  Even a brand new battery run down  and left discharged for  too long  can  be destroyed or at least have its capacity greatly reduced  by sulfation.  That's why I recommend  battery maintainers / tenders.  A battery kept up  by a maintainer should last a lot longer than  3 years.  One left in a partially discharged or completely flat  can  be destroyed in a year or a lot less.

  16. The biggest killer of all forms of lead/acid batteries is letting them sit, especially if they are not fully charged  to start with.   Sulfate builds up on the plates as they discharge and it  hardens as it sits. Recharging a badly sulfated battery ,especially using a "desulfating"  cycle can  make some of that hardened sulfate flake off instead of going back into  solution and  shorting a cell.  That reading of 11.4 volts ,could be  because of a shorted cell, and be the cause of the "chatter"  when trying to  start the  quad.  A decent maintainer used on the battery when the  quad is laid up  will keep the battery charged up and extend its life many fold.

If  it is a shorted cell the battery is toast.  Don't bother trying any of the "miracle" battery "rejunenators" you occasionally see advertised  for sulfated  or shorted cell batteries. They don't work.  Buy a good maintainer  when  you  buy  a new battery and use it when the quad is laid up .  The same goes for riding lawnmowers , boats or any other RV or yard equipment  that may sit for more than  a week or so at a time.

  17. Most starters run the same direction whether  they are wired straight or reversed.  There are motors built to be easily reversible  by shifting the position of the brushes on the commutator. Accidental shifting of brushes on a motor not designed for it could still cause it to reverse.
