  1. hey everyone , merry x-mas to one and all , I have just have to had my shocks and springs replaced on my    2016 POLARIS  SPORTSMAN 570 , it was riding really low and did not know that was the problem, it only  has 2000 kilo`s   on it.   anyway this time I got it done on warranty ,  I now have the rear springs  set on number  4 to help the shocks  and support the load,  mu question is does anyone know the spring rate of the rear    O.E.M.. SPRINGS,    I am toying with the idea if this happens again to get s some what stiffer spring , but have spent hrs. trying to find  info ,but no luck,  trying to find new ones is no problem high lifter states  that their springs   are 25-30-  %   stiffer which is the area   THAT I AM THINKING IF I DO REPLACE THE O.E.M. .  any info would be great

  2. as we do a lot  of trail clearing , and bridge  building , so we do not destroy fish habitat.  I needed to start carrying all my gear , so I started out by using a milk crate, but o get my saw off-on, and back again it was about 10min of screwing  around. plus we use fire picks  for moving dirt and stuff as well, so it is also a critical piece of our gear, so I decided to make one out of 3/4"  pluwod and 2x6  `s  .  and abit of hardware and paint ,  I can now have the saw off and running in under  15 seconds,  and the whole holder is removable , its held on by bungy cords.  I will post some pics of it, all in all .I spent 10$  on it I forgot to mention I live up in northern british Columbia   and we are alwayd having to carry saws cuz of the windfalls  and other sh** we run into on the trails I ride a 2016 polaris sportsman 570

  4. I sunk my  2006  , as I did not know what I was doing  on creek crossing ,  and it was a tuf little machine , but I decided to snorkel it , idid not buy the stock kit

but I used sump  pump hose  and A.B.S.. FTGS.   THE stock kit from Yamaha  up here was 300 $    , idid   mine for 80$   and a little imagination, I then tested it by mistake , I was actually in water  up over the seat  and nothing leaked, but it is gone  now

  5. greeting  everyone I`m  bob  , user name bob570sportsman , I live in northern  b.c., Canada  and love quadding , my 1 st bike I bought off my son s buddy was a 2006  Yamaha  Kodiak , I loved the bike , except no power steering  and on the old logging trails and rocky mountains  we go up I needed a new one , plus being retired I put 9000 km on it ,in 2 yrs , as I am retired   and would ride almost every day , so I bought a  2016 570 sportsman e.p.s..   love the pwr  steering ,  we do most of our riding and trail clearing in the kitimat valley , and we   are  getting quite an extensive set of trails and loops that are connecting , plus we are in touch with the terrace  b.c  club  so we help out on big trail clearing jobs,  should have bought one of these 40  yrs.  ago , but its never too late.  for great scenery  and riding  try northern  B.C.   its great riding ,

  6. THE  2 plates on the left made out of alum.  checker  plate are the lower  body guards to protect the battery and rad hoses,  which  polaris  left wide open and unprotected, I am just lucky that the battery  was not taken out by a stick, the 2 plates on the right are the rad. side guards  made out of sheet metal, the are specific  to the right and  left   sides  , and are just mounted with zip ties so they can be removed quickly to service the bike

  7. also , I forgot to mention  that I had been able to read about owners of sportsman 570 `s  complaining about  their  right legs getting  hot ,almost to the point of burning,  that is exactly  what ws happening to me , before I put on homemade radiator  guards, then on one ride I figured it out . we had been riding for close to 2 hrs.   and I noticed that mu inside right leg was not as hot as it usually  was , since I drove the 570. what was different,  the fact that I had put on the rad  side guards, which  # 1.  protected  the rad from sticks.   but #2,  it was now directing the air flow across the rad. and not letting  slipstream around   the rad , and letting the air take the path of least resistance.  my first impression  was , what did the polaris people  think by removing these. , my bike ran cooler  with 20$

worth of sheet  metal  , plus  my rad . was now protected.

  8. I have not  taken photos  of them  yet  , but I am going to take some  and post them on the site, the original  ones that polaris  chose not to install were around 20 $   . can.  so for 40 $   , which would be our cost , not their cost , they are taking on some bad press, the ones I made , I have been a millwright for 40 yrs.  are made  out of sheet metal  , and I used bondo  glass  ,  a short hair type of fibre glass  to join the two sections, I made templates out of card board to fit them, I then  just drilled  holes  and used   zip ties  to attach them to the body , this way I can remove them fast for servicing , the  bike .  then of course  give them a coat of black paint and you are good to go , I will also take pics of the lower protectors  I made

  9. I am new to this forum, have been atving  for 3 yrs.  recently got rid of my old 2006 Yamaha Kodiak , bought an new  2016 570 sportsman , I noticed that it was rather open in the front portion of the bike , so I installed alum. checker  plate to protect the battery  and rad . hose.  but I did not think to protect the exposed sides of the rad. as I live in northern british Columbia and we drive on old logging roads and we clear a lot of trails. on my 3 rd ride I got a stick thru the rad, and into the  elec. fan .  2 rides  later  the fan broke apart.  but luckily  I ahd since put on home made side guards out of sheet metal .. this actually  created better air flow and kept the machine cooler, but my problem is with polaris,  they installed side rad  guards  on the 2014  models- the 2015 models, then took them off for 2016 , I have seen lots of complaints about over heating, as a result of no air flow  across the bike , due to no guards, then I get a picture of a 2016.5   limited edtion Canadian 570  that has rad. side guards, I put in an appeal and they will not come good for the fan and motor, I like the  bike a lot , but am not very happy with polaris and their stupid idea  to remove the side guards, not everyone drives on logging  roads
