  1. I'll throw in my 2 cents,  I know a lot of guys who own the older Honda's and swear by them, also, just my opinion, a manual shift transmission is going to be less trouble in the long run.  I purposed to buy 2 '13 Ranchers with manual shift trannys because I had heard so many good things about them. Had them for two years and not a lick of trouble. FF

  2. On the tail end of kids and figured we better find something we could do together, after getting them realized we should have got them waaaaaay sooner. The kids would've really enjoyed it, as it is they can't keep their noses out of the electronics long enough to even want to go out.  Pretty sad, and shame on us for not doing it sooner.  But we love it and has created some great one on one time.

  3. It's a bummer our snow is melting as it has been in the mid 40's yesterday and is in the high 30's today, up in the north western part of the state they have gotten as much as 48" in the last couple of days, there are skiers and snowboarders traveling from all over the state and Idaho to get to the ski hill that got nailed.  And supposedly there is more coming their way.  We did get a dusting of 2" last night, not much to speak of.

  4. Ditto Quadnut, unfortunately it didn't happen.😢  I root for any team playing against the Patriots!!!!  I can't take away from the guys talent but what pissy crybaby bed wetter. Not to mention Cheat!!! Oops did I say that in my out loud thoughts? Sorry. The only other team I don't like almost as much as the Patriots is the other "Cry me a  River" Phillip Rivers Chargers, " Oh yeah, and the I'm not going to stand for the National Anthem "Collin Kapernick" 49er's.  GO FALCONS!!!!!!!!!

  5. Certainly is a waste of money, time, and truck box space.  Not to mention that it's an open invitation to moisture down the pipes, but really is there any explanation for what those guys do?  I don't know about anyone else but for me personally when I go riding it's to escape the the noise, crowds, technology etc.  I don't necessarily understand the guys that put the speaker tubes on their machines and blast music as they are riding through the woods either. To each is own I guess, just extra weight, taking up space on the rack, and something else that can quit working due to vibration and wet weather.  Said enough from my soap box🤐 everyone has their reasons for riding and what they enjoy, Nothing more awesome than riding my semi-quiet four-stroke into the hills mountains and shutting it off and hearing nothing but the wind through the trees, birds, and insects.

  6. I'm running Kenda Bearclaws on mine, they seem to be a great tire for what I'm using them for.  I don't do any muddin' so.....they are great for the mountain trails I'm riding.  Had  one set on for two seasons now and don't seem to be hardly worn.  You guys are lucky, you at least have a dream garage.

  7. I know right?  We have just scratched the surface of what is available to us having only been riding for a couple of years.   And these views are the ones available from trails we can access with our machines.  My brother in law and I hiked to a peak that I had never been to and have lived here my entire life.  9839ft to the top was an awesome day, wind was blowing about 50mph(80kph).  We had a great ride to a small mountain lake, (Fairy Lake) then hiked from there to Sacajawea peak. The picture with the peak circled is the peak we hiked to.  Makes me wonder why I've waited all these years to take advantage of where I live. Oh I know........Because I'm an IDIOT!!!!!!

  8. pretty entertaining, the booby trap thing is kind of a scary thought, however I can understand a little bit of people not being too happy about someone on their property but going as far as hanging fish hooks from branches that's pretty twisted.  Maybe they should open it up and allow folks to ride there if those interested in riding would be willing to help pick up some of the garbage and junk that is dumped off.  I fly radio controlled planes and sail planes and we gained access to some private property by our willingness to pick up trash left behind others and gained favor with the land owner.  It's been a decent relationship since then, private land is a tough deal these days.  Pretty funny video though thanks for sharing.

  9. I had a Grizzly 400 Automatic, was a nice little machine, 2008 only had 264 miles on it when I bought it.  It had some carburetor issues and the petcock was screwed up, I put a new petcock in and went through the carburetor it ran like a champ.  However my wife didn't like how it drove for some reason, I don't know if it was the OEM tires that were on it or what it just felt "squishy" (her words) in the turns.  I messed with the air pressure several times on several different trips and it didn't seem to help much.  She liked the way our Rancher drove and doesn't mind shifting so we sold it and bought another Rancher.  It was Really a nice simplistic ride and there are certain things I really liked and miss about it.

  10. wylde1,

I pretty much do trail riding, a bit of plowing when the need arises.  Have only been riding ATV's for a couple of years and living where we live, have so much area to explore it makes me wish that I would have gotten into it years ago.  But had kids in private school, and that isn't free so the ATV money for years and years went to tuition.  And to pay for that tuition, I had to chuckle at your avitar pic, we have been running a fireworks stand for 21 years which is what allowed our kids to be able to attend the private school.  However it does make me a bit nervous to see fireworks used like that LOL, be careful dude.  As far as mud goes........I'm old and therefore don't enjoy the cleanup and I can't imagine it's too good on the machine either.....but, to each is own  and if that's what you enjoy... go for it.  It does look kind of fun but can't imagine the time I would have to spend cleaning, I'm a bit anal, okay.....very anal and wouldn't and won't put my machines away dirty. If I do, it is taken care of the very next day.

    fartknocker,

Sounds like a great place to be.  I for some reason try to avoid the water and mud, worried about electronics, brakes, and hate to clean rock hard dirt.  To be able to have that freedom of riding either or all year long would be awesome.  I know that the folks down in West Yellowstone near Yellowstone National Park are able to use both snow machines and ATV's year round, for me I would sure miss my mountains, nothing like the feeling of coming over a rise and seeing views like these.

  11. Yes have enjoyed them so far, and they have been very reliable.  Looks like you live around a lot of bodies of water, pretty good trail system in that area?  We have to trailer our machines pretty much to where we ride, they are street legal but just too much pavement to get to the trail heads but once we get there very beautiful area.  Lots of mountains, valleys, lakes etc. we're pretty spoiled.  Pretty long winter season as it is here?  As great a place as this is, our riding season is pretty short as the Forest Service keeps a pretty close watch on the trails and the maintenance of them, so they are only open from mid June to Mid late October.  We really have to take advantage of those 4 months.

  12. I figured that out too finally by looking over the home page i guess that it is just a mental thing to see a page that says  "Active Topics."  Now that I understand how it works it might be easier to navigate.  I just wish folks would share more pics and respond to those that are posted, it makes it more enjoyable for sure to be here.

  13. I've noticed that a bit too, I've heard that the forums are really taking a hit because of facebook  I don't do facebook so I wouldn't know.   I try to get involved with some of the threads but there really doesn't seem to be an active topic page like some of the other forums, oh well I take what I can get I guess and throw in my two cents here and there.  FF
