  2. Havent had much response to this old post but hey ,new members have come along , so,why not.  Lol

with winter here my days of wading in the cold river isnt working anymore lol , but tying flys in the cold evenings with a nice glass at my side is where its at for me , i usually go through all my gear from past season, flies that need to be replaced or ,creating a few new ones .....i usually keep track as to what worked ,where and what month ...then i start tying up , ill make several hundred over the winter , if anybody has ever been curious about this don’t hesitate jump in and try. Its very rewarding

  3. Well here we go ... snowing like crazy front lawn covered already lol i guess winter is here , time to set plow up.

Last weekend i built a concrete ramp for bringing machines into basement , glad i got that done lol. Wouldnt be doing this weekend.

    Be safe guysm

  4. The country has been changing fast, this past year the current happenings have given my wife and i a new perspective on things .

we have discussed possibly moving out of our current state ,our state Government is a disaster, currently looking into Montana , weve been researching it and like many things about it ,the weather is what we like as well as the freedom .. Wondering if there are any members that are familiar with the state and would chime in on this ?

  5. Well i am ready for this election season to be over, done gone .......i am so over it

i Dont talk in depth politics or religion, lol.  But i have to say 2020 has been a shitty year IMO ......the country has become very angry , way to much doom and gloom.

I will cast my vote next week and then embrace the “ suck “ i have a feeling things are going to be ugly for a few more months.   ........ meanwhile. Get out and ride , cut a trail, have fun ,have a cold beer .... lol be safe

  6. Wow great pictures....i have always enjoyed ridding since i was a kid , from Briggs and stratton mini,s then all through the machines , to Harleys, now back to my quads ...always gave a sense of freedom ,

we enjoy the trails in the woods near our home on own property, we hit the power lines and enjoy that as well.

When sitting on our porch on any sunday we always hear the locals on trails in the distance, i have never minded hearing it , pretty much “ Farmboys having fun “ our road is private and goes a mile in off pavement , its accessible a few miles in from random trails , one day i was doing some maintenance on our road lol.....i heard them off in the woods , one was a throaty 4 stroke yamaha dirtbike.     I took a break  i knew they would stumble out of woods to our road , then there they were quads and a dirtbike lol......the kind of had that “ oh sh** look ....i walked over younger guys, the one took helmit off said hello , told buddies to shut it down , he said i think were lost never knew this road was here ...i said no problem. We talked a bit looked at their machines , i then told them i have no issue w/ them coming through , just be respectful, you thought you gave them the world ......all polite   Lol.  Remember they were lost at first......the one kid said thank you this saves him an hour from his house coming through ,lol  Bur i was a kid too once and i always remember respect property owners.    Since then they come through on occasion, wave and dont haul as*.   They even moved a tree that i just never got to yet from road, and then i noticed that they “ groomed the sides of thorn bushes , , where we live theres a huge network of trails in and out of woods combined with powerlines nearby so you can ride for a whole day its nice........

  7. Thank you, we stoped in newburgh to just look ......lol we were at Moronys on union ave.... the salesman was very informative and had great product knowledge wasn’t pushy or rude just told us that the machines had been selling quick, there were deposits being put down , ...i guess this propmted my wife ,like i said she surprised me and she was the one pulling trigger lol.....im blessed.    But honestly the salesman ( eric). Told us in conversation that there has been a huge upswing in people buying machines ,he said he attributes it to less snow in past seasons, so snowmobiles have slowed , and also lol our generation has rotated through the power toy cycle ......ridding street bikes has become a danger, and people are getting out and enjoying the outdoors ...... cant argue that id prefer outdoors all day long

  9. Hows evryone feel about blasting around in snow ?

I love it usually after all plowing is done ill drop the plow and just go lut and have fun. From drifting all over lol to packing snow trails in woods its fun , never been into snow mobiles ,  where we live its very rural and our roads seem like an afterthought when it comes to plowing lol , usually last to get cleared , so we will hit the back roads to powerlknes and such , we have several people around here with side by siedes ,and the usually hit the powerlines , pack the trails and then we hit them good fun ....Anybody else ?

  10. Hey guys/ gals

wife and i purchased 2 new machines in 2020, she actually surprised me when i said lets just look.  ....lol

next thing i know salesman called us saying our machines were ready for delivery,i fell in love w/ the kodiak 700; she got the 450. Both are the “ SE “ models , ..fast forward winch installed , plow ready for snow. I cannot praise it enough , however ill say theres times i will take her smaller quad out on trails and i actually enjoy it more lol , dont get me wrong the 700 is a Beast ...i pull trees outa woods, use it for multiple tasks on our property , its big.  Lol and the power was shocking ....then i hop on my wifes and its a different ride , almost feels like a snappy go cart in the woods. Lol.  It just goes and its fun to blast around on .... so i guess im lucky .....

point here if your looking for nice machine for wife ,look hard at the 450 , power steering and plenty of power , weve met several people on trails and the question comes up “ how about a choice for my wife , we point them to this .....

the Be ast is just amazing for work plowing snow is great, and it just works hard but loves to play ...... oh well just smiling with them figured id share some ramblings ...ride safe guys

  11. Been ridding since 8 yrs old , im now 54 lol.  Statred on briggs and stratton mini bikes, to a benelli , then scattered the typical, cr,s and xr,s.    Then i seen the coomercial for Big red...... that three wheeler was it , had to have it lol

did odd jobs, paper routes and worked as* off , got it reduced in price going into winter , dealership needed floor space for snowmachine season,   My dad worked the owner alittle and saturday afternoon we were putting in his truck, snow coming down i was so excited lol.....got it home and rode it in snow it was fun.    Moved on with my age to now im on a new kodiak 700 , wife has a new 450. ...we use them to work on property , plowing, pulling trees and general work on property ..... i have always been firm believer never skimp on quality or size to save a buck i just waited untill i could afford it .... but to a new rider you just need to be honest with self , if its for work and occasional trail rides ,  or if you are a full on racer going balls out ..... but for all practical thoughts my utility machine does all i ask.   We enjoy trails, and using for work ....i know Honestly im not the age to have a built banshee going all out lol...... and honestly the woods we ride in are not for that ...... so when deciding i think be honest , if its for the occasional trail ride once a month , or are you plowing sunday and monday , then pulling cedar trees all week , then going for trail ride its all what you expect , just my 2 cents .....be safe and enjoy

  12. Hey Guys/Gals

going into my second year on new quad , my kodiak is everything and more then expected ; wife loves hers as well. We got the 450 and 700 ... made sales guy smile when we ordered two ... the question i have is the tires , i have heard many say aftermarkets are just much better , iwe use our machines in woods ,and trails and we do ride in snow, with that i think my stock tires suck.  The have plenty of tread left but i just think i could be happier with better tires ........id love comments and input

  13. Hey guys ,i changed over last year from the standard “ hand lever system ,to swapping over to a winch pully set up for my plowing ,

i have a moose plow, and installed a pulley system on the plow to be raised and lowered with my winch , it works fine but im curiouse if others use a system like this ? It seems like i just do not get enough lift heaight from this setup , it may be how i have it set up ,i dont know ,i would love to see other members setups ,to compare to mine , much appreciated guys

    thank you.

  14. Hey guys been member for awhile and love this group ,kind of lost contact with social media ,i have been so busy working my property and just Racing the calender while winter is creeping in , i even slacked off Fly fishing this season ,

I have teen agers and shovels. Hasn't let me down yet. Lol
But on a serious note, I use synthetic rope as well. Just for the spring back if it breaks with steel cable. Had that happen to my hand on a tow truck. Not pretty. Still going strong for 5 years.

Lol , yes i have an 18 yr old but no way hes going to shovel ove a mile into the woods lol , he does clean the decks though lol , im thinking the synthetic is a good bet , if just for the safty

  16. Hey guys , i think i made mistake when purchased my machine when i thought id be fine with a manual lift moose plow set up .

plow is great , takes a beating , very satisfied however the manual lift for it just kicks my as* after 4 hours or so. Lol

so im looking at changing over to a winch , no biggie im definitely going to do it ,

where my question is , when looking at winches i came to the divide in the trail ...nylon rope ,or old style cable ?  I will be,only using this for plowing that is all , i use choke cables and tug straps for other work ...... somwhat do you think guys , its not a price issue , im looking for longterm dependability.... i questioned the rope getting wet while plowing , maybe no biggie not sure. ..

    thanks guys.  Airborne

  17. Hey guys i haven’t disappeared, just been busy , my latest has been plowing snow, and cutting trees in the woods , this cold snap is great to get in woods imo,,

last week, took,a sharp object in sidewall of tire, 32 miles on tire ugh... replaced the tire and bought a nice little floor jack at Harbor freight , it was about $30,00 , lol got home and realized it had no hydraulic fluid in it .... i wish they would of told me , had to run back out for fluid .. jack does exactly what i wanted im happy ..

hope everyone is doing ok ,
