Dam @pokerl0w that’s a lot of snow. I’ve been watching the news and and seeing some posts/pics on social media about the snow out there.  With the right machine it could be a lot of fun! Even with all my sh** I have to ride I would prob just stay in and eat and drink 🍺.

lmao it started out a great fun... until I got the QX56 (suv, 4 wheel drive, + mud n snow tires) stuck in about 4feet even had cables on! that car was stuck for 4 days. between work, sick (we also caught the flu for the first time in my life since toddler) and trying to get some sled time in with kids... I was shoveling like it was a work out for 4 damn days. Not too mention ice melt and all that. Between my atv oil leaks/spills, the ice melt (antifreeze) and all .. I have more chemicals in my yard the neighbors will call us The Oblongs come spring heh

I finally had to have wife punch it, and pull it with a tow strap - after the 4days of shoveling! Now we are getting crazy rain, melting the snow - mocking my efforts and, hopefully, diluting the chemicals as to not morph and critters to zombies.

  2. if I read the building code correctly (and I have not done real construction since post-highschool) in most california counties, you can build a non-electric/plumbed detached building under 120sq ft. without anyone else's opinion in the matter... Of course many counties (especially SF/SValley) use that as the state minimum and make it near impossible to build, as you say, without a permit for color, shape and dangle angle heh

but to be most clear, my 10x20 would be single story ... or was, until you gave me a great idea!! I could go basement too maybe.. 3 story 10by coming up :D  basement almost never counts to the sqft out here unless it's "finished, with plumbing and window for escape" and the 2nd story might have to be shelving or clear with joists for pulleys (my wife is going to have many more opinions)

where's Tim the tool man (Home Improvement) when I need him! ah ah ah

@pokerl0w you could buy my sportsman.... has snow tires on it already lol jk

I feel like Seinfield or Leno.. without their financial abilities just their motor desires! I still think I'm putting up a 2-story garage with lifts and the works. Wife thinks I'm crazy and in reality if I get a 10x20 shed up, the town will celebrate heh.

    Because I want them all!

Yes your sportsman! If nothing else just to have another toy to play with and swap tires around. Maybe I'll build 3 10x20s and nobody will call me out for permits :P

I tried itp, ambush, maxxis and even sand tires in the snow on 2wd. I was able to control with the sandtires in the snow. Not so much with the others.

I think our wives are related some how cause I got some of that going on on too. Lol.

My driveway is tight. But then again I don't ride on the street except for in the snow. I always bring is somewhere that I can't get all jammed up.

I've been quiet on here for a number of reasons, but one was the 6' we've had of snow the past 1.5 weeks!

I got stuck fast even with the 4x4 in deep snow with regular tires. Then I used neighbors 2001 Honda ES (forman?) which is a 2wd and no locker. He let me put my ATV chains and my plow! I got some video to share (sucky but fun) -- seeing it in action give me great hope for larger bikes (and 4x4/diff locks). I would like to see tracks on the front of my 4x4 for big snow play. Can you swap tracks and wheels easily? Maybe I could get a set as I do not see paddles in my future (not a dune'r)

yes but not of the rubber oil plug install heh

and about the shifting issue...  have you adjusted the clutch?  I adjusted mine out and it started slipping under load untill I adjusted it back in.  best way to learn how to do that is to go to 👇 , enter you model, and look at the owner's (not service- you spend a week looking for it) manual and and you should find directions to adjusting the clutch

ty for this. I will get to it soon. right now I'm riggin' a plow to see if I can move more vs with front frame heh

  6. not my truck :) .. this tree guy drove up, jumped out and quoted some low cut per tree. said he was going to stack 'em but he left in a hurry and I'm sure lost money on the deal.

he was trying to cut 6 down in like 10 minutes I guess. honestly I was recording in case anything happened to my house - that sugar pine coulda fell my way after that oak! He should have not only moved his truck, but used a line to control the fall angle.

  7. I would def buy the cheapest POS. Usually these things last forever. I had (*have) an old black n decker that I left always charging my trailer. Even had a fan on it that died. No snow on it ever, but plenty of rain and acorns, debris, etc. Looks like I have black and white clips not red so faded! heh even some rust on the clips

I guess the "transformer" that takes your 110 into charging could die in time. Usually, for non-moving parts, electronics will last and everything else just wires.

I have the regular Battery Tender Plus as well (pricey at $50) that I bought back in 2014. I really like the accessory features of that 2nd one (BM3B) for $19!!

  8. as many might know, the years previous, California had drought conditions that allowed "bark beetles" to basically kill many evergreen trees.

here's an example of what they did:

we had a few on our property... no HF tools here, this is Stihl guaranteed:

lmk if anyone wants his #, I'm sure he'd trade for body work lol

  10. To start it off, I'd like to share the bakery display cases I made for my wife. I'm sure ya'll have some impressive stories behind those HF tools, let's see 'em!

I built these bakery display cases for wife on almost 100% HF tools a couple years ago. Only thing I bought from Home Depot was the wood/plywood/stains and 3 sawhorses for my workbench. Router, circsaw, blades for both, sander, sandpaper, gloves, the nails for the nailgun (gun borrowed from dad, have a 5# pancake for air) I had almost zero tools to start.

Some of their cheap "speed" clamps failed, but first time for me using those types of clamps, was expecting them to hold better:

heh my youngest helping my dad glue:

and for fun, here was the finished project (1 of 2, built 2 cases, this is the smaller .. the plastic was from Tap Plastics for the "sneeze guards" and the top case):

btw, was jw, is your bike manual or semi manual?  Mine is foot shift but no clutch to pull.  Easier in some ways and harder in others to drive...

semi auto. last bikes I rode, I do not think they had auto's. I am used to the left handlebar clutch.

But, I really do not think it is my foot. because it will also slip out of 1st gear into neutral and it wasn't me, I swear! :)

Ugh thats bad.   Jb weld will work great though.  Use the tap plug.  Drain the oil lay the bike on the side so no oil is in the area of the threads when installing the plug back in. Clean it a little with a carb cleaner and dry It good so no oil is in the area.   That’s why you have to lay it on the side and let it sit like that for a few min.

The only other thing to do it bring it to a weld shop and have a guy that’s know heli arc alum welding and weld the tap plug in place.

to be clear, both are "tap plugs"? one was self-threading the other had the piggyback. if I use the one with piggyback, it is 14mm x 2.00 and the self-tap is 12mm x 1.75 - I am very much concerned that the larger piggyback will split more. When I look close there is also a tiny crack (on the outside) at the end of where the chunk cracked off..

and for laying down.. guess that means also need to siphon the gas before I tip. anything else might leak? fuel left in hoses? never tipped one. maybe I can use a tree branch and pulley to lift it straight back/front? would I gain anything?

I also think I should remove plastic before I tip. lots of cracks in this gem. however if I pulley, I could leave them on. leave it dangling all night and scare neighbors that have smaller atvs
