  1. Hello Mech , good to hear from you, how are you and the boys fairing? Hope you're all well. That regulating issue was kinda where I was heading, it looks like a pain in the ass if so. Oh well, what else have I got to do with my spare time? HAH

Hi Steve. We're all well here thanks. I'm a grand dad three times over now. It's winter(of course), and the elder and wife have taken their two year old and five week old to the south island to show the relatives and to see some snow. The younger son became a dad about, er, five weeks ago.

Your bike problem is common if the battery is dead or not connected to the charging circuit (blown fuse or broken wire). As soon as the revs get high enough to require the regulation to occur, which is as soon as you rev it up if there's no battery, then the regulator totally kills the voltage on those things. Once the ignition's stopped and the revs come down they get ignition again and start running again... momentarily.

Another fairly common symptom, though not of suzukis, is that a failing regulator can start loading the stator so heavily that the engine struggles to rev up, as if under a huge load or seizing.. It's quite a bit different symptom to the cutting in and out..

You should check the charging is working, and regulating.. Then perhaps it's a dirty carb or something.. Simple things first though.

      Regards.
