I have had the same issue and what happens is the starter gets dirt and moisture in it. Remove the pull starter assembly then expose the starter bendix (head of starter) spray it out good with carb cleaner and oil the front bushing and reassemble.atvwheelin.com More tech ideas here!

Now I am lost? I thought the stater was on the left side behind the belt? So what you are saying is that if I take off the recoil starter (AKA pull starter) I will find the sneaky starter or just the bendix?

My 2004 Scrambler will not start with the key. It just clicks, but will not turn the starter. I can pull start it and it runs fine. I checked the battery and it seems good... It will power the beams on high and to be sure I put a charger on it for an hour. Any thought???

BTW the "click" comes from the junction right next to the battery on the left, Solenoid I think...
