  1. alhtough this is an older thread, but if you went a head and want a full exhaust save up more money and go ahead and get your big 3. intake, programmer and exhaust. you said you ahve the K&N filter is that the drop in K&N or the actual K&N intake system? the big restriction on the 450 if the intake. The full exhaust will give you gains but the intake will give you greater gains. at your sea level a programmer is crucial if you do either or cause the stock ecu can't handle that large of a jump into a lean condition. but if you're looking for an idea. on my 450 I have 13" dasa(loud as hell not recommended for trail riding go with the 15" can), procom ecu, and FCI intake. But I'm going to change my controller to a Power Commander V with the auto-tune feature for when I change altitude we go from 5000 up to 12,000 and the auto-tune will help compensate for the changes. A regular PCIII and Procom won't adjust to altitude.

  3. Hi, I am brand new here and know next to nothing about ATVs. I have cash in hand and looking to buy a utility ATV soon. But I am still trying to figure out just how much ATV I need. I live in a rural area on about an acre. In addition to some low-key pleasure riding (I am an older guy) I am looking for something I can also use around the homestead. I have several trailers to move from time to time (including a 21 foot pontoon), haul some firewood and pull a drag on my dirt driveway. Most of my pleasure riding will be on dirt roads and flat land pastures (I live in Kansas). I dont plan to race or head for the dunes. How small an ATV would it take to do what I want without feeling inadequate and is there such a thing as too much ATV?

Also, I was looking at a Craigslist ad for a 2003 Kawasaki Prairie 650 for $3,600... NADA lists the value at $3125 and KBB at $2910. How close are these guides to actual selling prices?

    Thanks

how big are the trailers and how heavy is the pontoon? As well is your land flat or does it have hills. I had a honda rancher (350cc) and it could barely move me up hills at times. honestly I wouldn't go lower then a 500cc for what you're doing. but the kawie 650 you're looking at would work great for your situation and then some, as long as it not modified as well for the price it ain't bad depending on the condition it's in.

  4. all of these are in CO but you can look up the same style of racing near you and find a local organization

    Bangin Bars Home

(dirt bikes and quad flat track)

    Your Page Title

(Pikes peak international hill climb. You have to have race experience prior to doing this race. It's not for beginners and a committee decides if you're allowed to race or not)

The National Young Farmer's Coalition around here host an atv skill races (timed obstacle course) and sled pulls. One of the funnest events, if you can find one, plus they usually go for a good cause.

    Valley Dirt Riders Motocross

(dirtbike and quad hare scrambles) I've never done one but I've heard they're fun you might wanna get a hold of soopidbot or tangels on here they've done a few of them

    www.harrysro.powweb.com/hrmc/

Harry's Roamers Motorcycle Club host ice racing if you really want to try something different. The website sucks to go through I should know I am a member of the group and have been fighting with the board for years to update it, but that ain't going to happen. Or you can go onto facebook and look us up its a lot easier and the two other people that help me run the page will answer any questions quickly.

Hopefully that'll help you with and idea of whats out there when you start looking. Good luck and have fun.

  5. Thanks I did do that. I had read as much as I could find on the prairie & found also that they had the deal with Suzuki on the twin peaks 700.

I figured you did but a lot of people don't know that in 2003 &2004 kawie pretty much made suzuki's quad line. They just had different color plastics twin peaks is a prairie and a LTZ400 is a KFX400

  6. thanks for all the luck guys I'll need it

Whats the latest up date ??

I'll find out more on october 1 after I take my general knowledge test. Other wise it's just me trying to get motivated to work out so if I make it to the end I'll pass the physical test and when I start the academy.

  7. Hey guys thanks Pete it does look like it would come apart The one side that isn't in bad shape you can see a pin but it looks at this point it will have to be drilled out. If I can just get the 1 part and a new pin. A friend of mine konws of an atv salvage yard in Alabama and knows the owner well. He is going to check with him for the replacement part or just a compelet actuator.

Might wanna have him look for parts for a suzuki twin peaks 700, same quad as a kawasaki prairie.

  8. Is it a contest with prize? What is the criteria? How do they do it on other sites?

usually its just recognition for being the quad of the month. everyone submits three pics of there quad and one mod just goes down the list of what was submitted and list it as a poll of like dislike or undecided.

  9. Bio...Just for you I went many a sleepness nights to find a pic.....Now there is gonna be many many more, hope you are happy!! LOL

  11. I have a kfx700. It has dual exhaust K&N air filter and a jet kit was just added last fall. I put the size recommended on the :aargh: and turned them out 2.5 turns as recommended. The quad goes through its range fine but when ran at a constant speed at any point the engine bogs constantly. Any suggestions? Also, when running at a certain rpm it makes a souns similar to a slightly loose heat sheild vibrating at a high frequency or like pan likes being thrashed coming from the front. Any info is appriciated. Thanks all...

Sounds like a carb issue either you're out of sync or the needles or jets are incorrect. How far away from Barnsville PA are you? Theres a shop there that it's owner is a kawie v-twin guru that should be able to fix it.
