  1. Well Mike5469 and I went up to Hale Mi yesterday with much anticipation for our first ride of the year. The weather was perfect, the trails in the morning where icy and a little wet, but we didnt let that slow us down. It felt so good to get on the machines and finally ride when it is not 10 degrees and 10 inches of snow. I cant wait until next time.

25 miles in to the first destination this tree jumped out in front of Mike and clipped his right rear tire bending the axle. WTF I cant believe that tree didnt look both ways before crossing that trail.

The Damage the tree caused. The best part is Mike was A OK. Just a bruised ego.

  2. Hey I also have a friend that can get you a PDF service manual for free and it has electrical trouble shooting in it if you are good at that. It will give you the resistance, voltage and so on for each of the two parts you have narrowed it down to. So with the manual you should be able to determine which one it is. So let me know if you want the service manual and I will ask him to get it for you. And in the mean time here is a page with that has 04 and 06 manuals which also might have the same thing.

  4. Capitalism at its finest. The prices are going up just like they did 4 years ago because of speculation and the the government printing so much money its causing the US dollar not to be worth anything on the world trade market. What happened to the US dollar being worth almost .60 cents more than the canadian dollar? Now they are about even. So it takes more US dollars to buy the oil than it did before.

What happened to the days of paying the price the gas station paid for the tanker that week. Not going up and down 3 times a day like the stock market.

  5. LilRaRa you should be able to fit your quad in the step side. I used to put my old banshee in the step side. Just the outside of the front rims would roll over the wheel well and then fit perfectly. there was plenty of room once it was over the wheel wells. and I know that you can lay a 4x8 sheet of ply wood in that bed laying on top of the wheel wells. So I would give it a try and see but I bet if fits. Might be tight but should fit.

  6. Hello Mike

I just got back into quading after a 11 year layoff due to starting a family and now I am back into it with the wife and son. I used to ride Silver lake a lot, the mounds, and local land. Right now I am just lake riding because I still have to buy a trailer so I am lucky enough to live on a lake and can ride out there when ever. I have only had my quad for about 2 weeks now but my son has had his since october and he rides every chance he can get. I LOVE IT that he is so into it.

Now I have to get my wife a quad in the next couple of weeks. We do plan on making some trip up north this spring summer and fall (but where to is still up in the air). If your ever in the area of Oakland county and want to ride drop me a line I am home all the time after 5pm weekdays and every weekend.

  7. Well so far I am loving the YFZ but I have only had it out on the lake in the snow. And the 4stroke torque is amazing. I did love the banshee but I like the ability to ride out of any gear at any time with out having to keep the RPM's up all the time. I am also 10 years older and much lazier so that might have alot to do with my bias.

  8. I finally got a new quad after going 11 years since I sold my banshee. I went and purchased a 05 YFZ 450 from a guy about 1 mile away from me that I found on craigslist. I paid $1800 for it. Its bone stock just like I wanted and is in fantastic condition. I took it out on the lake tonight and wow I did not realize how much I missed having a quad. So I now have a quad for my son and myself and now I have to find the wife one real soon as I think she put more time on the thing tonight than I did. Any ways if anyone is in south east Michigan and close to Oakland county hit me up I have the lake right out my back door and your more than welcome to come over and ride.

  9. Dirt Demon you are exactly correct. I was hooking it up between the stator and the CDI and not between the voltage regulator and the stator. As I did not discover the other connector until I pulled all of the plastics off and started tracing wires to look for a bad ground. In the middle of doing this I also found a loose connection on the stator so it was not a complete wast of time. All is good and working perfect. Now all we have to do is wait for it to get cold again and night time to see how good they work. I was told that if I stay less that 80% of the total output that I should be ok. But I was told by one person that it is 70 watts and read else where that it is only 32 watts. None of the dealerships will help me out as all of them just want me to bring in the quad so they can charge $85 an hour and break me.

  10. yes its wired correctly. Its just has two plugs that plug in between the stator plug like the directions said. I got the lights from Power Sports and Marine in Minnesota. I got the part number directly from Polaris. I was unable to find any PDF online also to double check but after going through all of the options on the quad there are only two plugs that would work with the harness that came with the lights. Polaris said its a plug and play installation when I asked for the part number but there 800 number was unable to help me with the issue I am having.
