  2. I am glad to have found this forum. It has been helpful already and I have hardly ridden my 2002 Yamaha Bear Tracker YFM250 ATV. I just traded for it in a swap for a couple of older snowmobiles. It wasn't running. It's cold here in Maine and I don't have a heated place to work. It didn't have spark so I spent a lot of time tracing wires and replacing most suspicious components. Finally success. Now it won't stay running, I am about to get reading all the helpful advice from the posts to see what the problem might be. Happy to be part of your community. Thanks
  3. Anyone on here ride around the Farmington, Lewiston, Augusta area of Maine? I've had a wheeler for years but haven't had much luck finding legal connector trails and always end up riding little stubs. I'd love to chat about riding in the area.
  4. hey everyone im kristy 23 from maine and i own a z250

  6. I'm 62 year old. I bought a 2005 Polaris Sportsman 400 three years ago and I've been having a great time since. I joined the local ATV club, Ossipee Mountain ATV Club in Waterboro, ME. Great time riding the trails and even plow snow with it in the winter.
  7. Wintertime riding in Northern Maine on my Yamaha Wolverine!
  8. If you like scenic trails with beautiful views and great places to stop for a snack, lunch or just to gas up then consider central Maine. As most of you probably know Maine has over 6,600 miles of ATV trails!. Canaan is in the heart of it all. With direct trail access from several lodging establishments you can head out and in several directions for a few days of riding or a week of adventures. I'll be posting pictures from some of the rides...( when I figure out how!). Check out Central Maine Cabins, Pet Friendly, Hike, Kayak, ATV, Bike as a place to stay. Our local club is currently signing a new access route that will be ready in a few weeks giving us a way to get to the Moosehead lake area, Bingham, Moscow, Harmony and more. Who wouldn't want to get out I95 and get on the trail sooner? We also have had riders who have done the Translab loop on motorcycle stay and say we are a great last stop before returning home. See you on the trails Denise
  9. I just bought my first quad tuesday at age 55, looking forward to getting to some nice hunting and fishing spots here in New Hampshire and maine

  12. The riding up here is GREAT. IF I could just learn to embrace the snow. Then Snowmobiling is even better, you can ride your sled from the Bangor Maine area 200 - 300 miles uninterrupted east, north or west using the ITS system to a number of border crossing and into Canada, with regular gas, food and motel stops along the way.
  13. My wife & I are getting tired of 0 degree high for the day and 10' of snow for the 5 month long winter season. and are looking for a warmer place to spend the winter. We would need a place with lots of ATV trails and places to put our kayaks in and do some fishing. Shopping malls, etc are NOT even a consideration. as long as we have a gas station and food store, we're good. we also need to have some "elbow room" without being stuff in with neighbors on all sides. to put this in perspective we live in Aroostook County, Maine which is about the size of Connecticut and Rhode Island combined, but with a total population of 70,000 or about 10 people per sq mile. so we're used to going 30+ miles without seeing anyone except a moose or maybe a bear. another words, I want to replace the this picture with these pics. we would either rent a place for the winter, or buy a travel trailer / toy hauler to live in. Dave
  14. I use a Garmin InReach Explorer coupled via Bluetooth to the Earthmate app on my android phone. This give me the topo map that matches the Delorme Maine Gazetteer maps (a must have for the Northern Maine woods) The main reason is that 80% of where I ride has no cell phone coverage. I'm typically 20 miles or more away from the nearest tower. and the InReach give me satellite Text message, email and 911 capability. Also if I'm riding alone it drops a waypoint every 10 minutes so my wife (or others I give the URL to) can check the Garmin web page map and see where I am. After 12 hours on the trails I've used about 10% of the battery life.
  15. Hello @wolfrider I moved your topic into the Northeast regional forum. Sounds like fun on an RZR! There are a few Maine topics https://www.quadcrazy.com/search/?q=maine you can check out!

  20. Gents, First off, I have spent a week browsing your Forum, but now I must join and find answers, please assist. Soon to be retired US Marine, I live in the woods of Maine, I purchased a used ATV, listed above. I have a Clymers Manual. ( uuhh not real easy to read with out my crayons and Pop-up pictures). When Purchased, I knew it needed work. This is a father son project ( he is 13), in parts, in the basement.. no brakes, electrical wire dis-allowed the electric starter to work, ( fixed easily) choke frozen, rear bearings shot, close to impossible to start, stop light brake switch electric broken, speedo cable broken. Description of work done: 1- new rear bearings-purchased "boss bearings" 2-new choke cable and assembly - was stuck in the carb, and cable was frozen 3-new rear bushings on suspension arms- were frozen/seized during the bearings removal 4-new front, rear breaks,- drums being turned this week at local machine shop 5-brake master cylinder-top screw being tapped out- .. was stripped and broken 6-miscilaniouse OEM parts and bolts ordered from Partzilla and Rockymoutnain parts- so far good fits: bushings, bushing bolts, air filter assembly, choke assemble, wheel brake cylinder: springs/gaskets bolts, master cylinder rebuild kit. to be fixed- ANY AND ALL Advice to all next steps: 1-Wheel Brake Cylinders to be rebuilt- cylinders in local machine shop being "honed" A- hints and suggestions ? I have new gaskets, bolts, rubber, and springs. OEM 2- I need a New Muffler Exhaust: Hard to find?? any ideas? 3- Speedo Cable assemby on order 4. MOST IMPORTANT QUESTION AND HELP: Carburator engine NOT starting: below is what I know to be true: a. reassembled carefully back in place after choke assembly was replaced b. checked ALL Fuel lines, steady streams ! c. Starter switch works- d. spark plug is not fouled, blue spark, damp. e. electric is working f. tried eather / quick start - NO catching of spark to make engine go "vroom" g. no visible oil or fuel leaks on engine head or crank case h. when inspecting air intake at filter, it appears the carb is shooting air back into the filter, NOT into the carb..?? this normal?? Well, I hope this didnt bore you, and you can provide some insight on all or any items? Help this Marine out please? Frankfort, Maine..USA

  22. So I have returned from vacationland. A wonderful 2 months in Maine. ATV HEAVEN out there. I have put the new springs in and started her up. No wrenching or snapping or whirling or anything that would make me think another spring broke. So fingers crossed that's one crisis averted. I am still interested in your clutch carry assembly though if you have one lying around. I need to fix up the brakes and some other general stuff but otherwise I think were good. She does still has a clicking noise that I think has something to do with the starter. It only happens when I use the eletric start, and when I turn it off it gives one "click". I will post a video soon of the bike running. And and all comments or suggestions are very helpful.
  23. Thanks for the bits and peices of info. Fired this 06 with 5-6k and Never serviced! Timing had jumped 6 teeth on the intake, due to no 0 psi oil pressure to keep the cam chain tensioner tight enough to prevent cam from spinning. Added oil stripped the front end and checked the timing notches repeatedly. Never lined up parallel 6 teeth off to realignment with exhaust valve cam. Reset to parallel bolted intake cam shaft with exhaust cam, installed spark plug wire and vawalla! It friggin runs, smokes bad but I would too after 5k miles and never check a service manual or oil or maintenance schedule. My problem now but She is mine and running! Hats off to the forum I got a skeeter beater here in Maine! dblR Have a great day in the woods!
  24. Welcome to tx. I was thinking of moving to Maine just to get away from the heat.
