1. Thanks for the welcome to quadcrazy. I am still looking for the PDF service manual for a 2000 Kawasaki 300 Prairie 2x4 automatic. I have had noooooo luck to this point. I have searched the forum as much as I know how to, sort of new to this computer thing. I did find a page of PDF manuals posted by oxidized_black but that one was not on the list. I PM'ed him on his website a couple of days ago but have not heard back from him. Or......maybe I just am looking in the wrong place for his answer. At any rate my rig is down and I use it every day, so I neeeeed help!! I downloaded one for a 300 Bayou but it was not the same. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!!
2. Hi, I am new to this forum and in need of some help! Does anyone have an idea as to remove and replace a front gear case. I am helping my son with his bike and in need of some help...any and all help would be appreciated
3. I just bought a 2012 brute force 300 that is an automatic. Im not use to an automatic but it seems to be revving very high at slow to medium speed. It does seem to go fast ~60mph so its not like the belt is slipping. Does anyone know what could be wrong? Thanks
4. hello folks, thanks for letting me join your forum. I have a question I hope someone can provide an answer to I have a 2000 model Arctic Cat 300that has a firing problem. The spark plug will get fire to it as long as you hold down the starter button, but as soon as the starter button is released, there is no more fire at the spark plug will I get lucky and possibly have just been a glitch in switch problem,or is this more likely to be a c_d_i problem? any suggestions would be much appreciated. Thank you in advance
5. I'm new to the atv world and just got this 4 wheeler from a friend it sat for 2 yrs but starts just fine I've changed the oil and spark plugs in it and when I run it I can't see any oil in the little check window should I be able to see oil in it also when I ride it it smokes a little I'm not sure if it's burning oil or not what are some signs that it might need a top end rebuild I'm taking it in to the shop in a couple of days to have the carb cleaned and rebuilt should I just have them take a look at it
6. Help my Kawasaki bayou 300 1986 model won't start, replaced coil, and cdi valve. does not spark with new spark plug....what next????? It is one owner and we have maintained nor well so I known it has not been mistreated and should be able to repair, I like it better than the new ones for working on the farm, easier to handle for me!!! thanks for any help,
7. The left front axle seems to have a small leak and some play at left front differential where axle goes into. Hoe much play is normal? The service manual I downloaded does not cover this in detail. I have built GM 10 bolt,12bolt and Dana 70-80 diffs. How hard it it to replace on a 1998 KQ 300. I know how to set pinion depth and backlash on trucks but have never tackled a atv front end. Thanks
8. This post is just an FYI. Im fixing up the subject quad. Problems and solutions found so far: 1) The ignition switch would not complete the circuit. Fortunately, you can take this ignition switch apart. I cleaned the corrosion off the contacts and lubricated it with WD40. It works well now. 2) The lights did not work. I took the switch apart and found a broken wire where it solders onto the switch. I also cleaned the switch with WD40. The lights now work. 3) Fuel tank was full of rust. I had cleaned it up a year or two ago, but it was rusted so bad I could hardly get the cap off. I bought a plastic after market tank from Clarke. They are bit expensive, but it fits well and seems to work. 4) Cleaned out carb to rid it of rust. The quad fired right up after 2 or 3 seconds of cranking. Remaining work may include new muffler and piping. Im wondering if I have problems with the alternator too. The front brakes also need work. Beyond that, I think everything is working OK.
9. Should this quad run without a battery once you get it started? I don't have a battery, but I boosted it to start it. As soon as I disconnect the cables, it dies. I thought these engines would run without a battery so I am wondering what other problems I have? Thank you, Chris
10. hello im having trouble getting this quad to start have great spark and compression. i have cleaned entire carb. im getting gas in the air box and i had the machine backfire threw carb once any advice or ideas will be greatly appriciated thanks
11. Got a good deal on an 89 bayou 300. Couple questions. First is in the picture I have posted. Note the two wires at the bottom of the pic (white and black/yellow). They were not hooked up to anything and Im not sure if they are supposed to go to the battery or somewhere else and what they are for. Second question is I had the carb apart for a cleaning. The vaccum operated slide has a spring under the cap with a plastic clip that goes inside the spring. Is there a proper location inside the spring for that clip. Right now it is just below half way inside the spring. It runs alright but keeps fouling the plug. Pulled the plug off, cleaned it and dried it off and it starts back up but not sure how long before itll do it again, last time it was about 20 minutes of riding and it bogged out and wouldnt start.
12. Hi gang 1st time user here; I was given the quad in the summer and i am going threw a few thing took off the round plug to the rocker the one on the bottom easy to get at ;Wanted to check the valves ; when i tookthe plug out gas came out i,m thinking is this the intake valve and is gas supposed to be in the area just under the plug; I,m more of a car guy and i,m just learning about quads i will be trying to buy a repair manuel ;Need to fing one first; Cheers everyone And May you all have a Merry Christmas and a happy new year; I,m off tomorrow to buy a snow plow for the quad; Early Christmas Present to me ;Sorry for the long thread ; Gee from Toronto Canada:yes: Sorry guys the quad that was given to me in the summer is a 2000 not the 2001
13. My four trax has a snow blade with a winch mounted on the blade. The winch looks like a wiper motor. I would like to install a winch on the Quad, so it will handle the blade and also pull the quad up into the bed of my truck. I see mounts on line for my Quad, but I cant see how they would possibly fit. If anybody has a pic of a winch on this vintage quad, I would appreciate it. Thanks Todd
14. anybody know how to remove the universal joints? or any other way to remove the drive shaft?
15. Good morning. I have had this 2000 KingQuad since new - it has 2500 miles/hours on it. it appears that the front out put shaft yoke seal is leaking does anyone have any experience in replacing this seal and O-rings as described in the service manual? Also, can it be removed and replaced WITHOUT disassembly of the engine?
16. My Honda Fourtrax won't start. The starter is kicking the engine over, but it won't start. It sat for about a year while I was living away, so I thought it might have been bad gas. I completely drained the fuel, flushed the fuel lines and filled it with fresh gas. However, still nothing. It started and ran fine the last time I used it. Any suggestions on how to diagnose this? It could be fuel or electrical at this point. Is there an easy way to rule one or the other out? Thanks
17. i have a 300 king quad im working on! it was brought to me for a carb cleaning! I have cleaned the carb it was plugged solid above the needle valve, as it was run out of gas. the fuel pump was also plugged and full of rust, so a new pump has been put on. after the carb cleaning it would only run with the choke on and pet cock on pre, now that the pet cock has been repaired and works properly, and I took the carb apart again and went over it. now it wants to flood the cylinder and plug. it also sprays a bit of gas out the intake side. it will start when the plug is dried out and the gas is burnt out of the cylinder, it will not rev out and only runs if you hold the throttle wide open! it has me baffled! also the vacuum at the top of the carb, should it go to the pump or petcock? if anyone has a downloadable manual for this bike it would also help! thanks in advance for an help
18. I just got a 300 kawa 4 wheel drive I think it is a 1994 the lever on the left side of the handle bar is missing is this for the clutch there is a cable that is all, this is the first standard shift I have had.It needs parts Thanks Raybob I think he said it was a bayou
19. I am replacing a burned up regulator/rectifier as well as the connector. I should have marked the yellow wires better as now I am not sure which is the 1, 2, or 3 wire. Im sure that they need to be connected correctly. I could probably figure out the 2 wire as a middle wire in the 3 and have the diagram but need to know how to connect these three yellow wires. Thanks. David
20. Well I got this thing a few weeks ago for 2k. Rode everyday and hard by me, last guy was older and easy on it. Anyway. Need some help. Should I worry?

That's from rear axle, worried about that oozing black stuff. It was all by my finger. What is it?!

Also brakes have nothing. Where do I start with them?! And where can I get a cheap solenoid and tires?! Thanks!
Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
21. I have a 2000 king quad 300 and had a no start problem that was preceded by intermittent instances of the bike shutting off then neutral light flickering when in neutral an then no neutral or reverse light followed by a no start condition and no lights when switched to that position. Upon investigating the regulator rectifier I found that its connector had been melted. The connector will have to be replaced and I think that it is safe to say that the regulator/rectifier is shot. Is there anything else that could have caused this connector to melt or could have also been damaged. I dont want to put a new regulator/rectifier on to have it immediately get cooked and remelt the wiring and connectors. I will try to upload a picture of the damage. I was unable to attach a pic here with the post but there is a picture in the "pictures" section of the forum. I downloaded the factory manual so I will see if I can test the generator for damage. The battery seems okay and will take a charge. Thanks to anyone that can help me determine if I have a problem with more than just the regulator/ rectifier.
22. I am having so many proublems with my Lakota 300. Can't seem to get the timing right for some reason. Havn't been able to get it to start for some while. Does anyone know of a sit where I can download a free manual. All I can find is a manul for a KLF 300 and I don't know if I can use this manual for the Lakota. Any help would be great. Thank You!!!!!
23. Had the opportunity to buy a 1999 King Quad really cheap with snow plow included. Has 2000 miles on it. Im used to having Hondas and i am not familiar with Suzuki at all. Where should the choke be when running? I runs with the choke lever toward the ground but stalls when coming to the end of pushing a pile of snow.
24. I am hoping that someone here can give me some more ideas. Our poor old red 300 won't start. We rode it, running fine, shut it off and now it won't start. Have gas to the carb and spark at the plug. Valves are adjusted. Still won't start. Tried a little starting fluid in the air chamber and still won't start. This poor old machine has 7000 miles on it. That has to be an Arctic Cat record! And I have never touched the engine besides setting the valves. Unfortunatly it looks like it only has 60 psi of compression. Don't understand how it could be running fine and then nothing. Someone give me a clue as to what I am missing or what to check. I was going to rebuild the top end this next spring but didn't want to do that this winter in a non-heated garage. Any help?
25. Hi guys, I dont post here much but I figured I would pass on some info in the hopes it will help someone. I was having a problem with my KQ while plowing snow the other day. It would stall frequently while idling. Especially when stopping to switch to reverse or a forward gear. But it would run fine at anything above idle. My buddy came over to help me with it. We determined that it was starving for fuel or dirt was stuck in the carb somewhere. After confirming that there were no clogged screens, filters or vacuum leaks anywhere, we disassembled the carb and blew out all the passages with carb cleaner and compressed air even though everything looked spotless. Then we checked the pilot screw setting. Someone had already been in there as the plug was removed. We checked the setting and it was 2-1/2 turns out from the seat. We set it at an even 3 turns and put it all back together. It now runs flawlessly with no stalling! I believe it was just a bit lean on the low end. Anyway, hope this helps someone.:cheers2c: BTW, this is my first season with this (or any) quad and I am AMAZED at its plowing ability for such a small machine!
