  1. I have just recently purchased a 1998 artic cat bearcat 454 2x4! It had been sitting up for about 2 years and needed some major work! I replaced the cdi unit and regulator and freed up the brakes! Now I was breaking down the carb, cleaning the jets and all and noticed that one of the ears that hold the float in place has been broken off!! I opoxyed it back on, and everthing seems to be fine now! But as I was looking for carbs I can't find an aftermarket carb anywhere! A brand new one is from 400 to 500 bucks and I can't find a used one! Does anyone know a different brand or an aftermarket carb I can use on my 98 bearcat 454?? Thanx alot!!
  2. I need a engine for a 04 500 tbx. My dads quad was really messed up by a local dealer they cracked the engine cases. I have now taken them to court got some coin from them and want to find a wrecked quad or junk yard that has a motor. Because a tear down part by part would cost way to much. Let me know what sourses you all have. Thanks cway

  6. Hello All, I'm new to this Forum! I have read all the rest of the posting pertaining to the display screen, I do have similar issues and I need all of your help! First off the atv starts and runs fine but when I turn the key on the display flashes until I push the "select" button, then everything is normal on the display. When I start riding the screen starts flashing again. I have checked the connections (used connection cleaner), charged the battery to full, unhooked the battery over night, but it still flashes and does the same thing. Things I still have to try: - changing the gas and putting fresh gas in it - changing the spark plug - checking the belt (not sure if it’s the correct one or not but it runs fine) Is there anything else that I have missed? Does anyone have a PDF of the owner’s manual? Thanks for your advice!

  11. I'm putting this in the Suzuki section because my machine is essentially a Suzuki LTZ400and there's more traffic/knowledge in this section. (moved into Arctic Cat Forum..by ajmboy) I have a 2007 Arctic Cat DVX400 and I recently installed a Pro Design tether kill switch-normally closed(I think;it grounds when tether is pulled)and a Procomm cdi box(+1K rpm & different ign curves).I installed the kill switch as directed(one wire to ground and one wire to trigger positive) and I richened the a/f mix screw as a precaution.I went and rode a couple hard, high rpm test rides and it started cutting out and died.It was very hard to restart and when it does restart it sounds as if a valve is sticking open and it doesn't want to rev for a little while.I got worried and reinstalled my oem cdi and it does the same thing. It runs fine at low/mid rpm and doesn't make any strange noises either. What do you think I screwed up?Please help;thankyou
  12. Hello--I have a 2004 Arctic Cat 500. When I select 4 wheel drive nothing happens. I can hear the solind working but no front lock up. Need help---

  15. I believe my cooling fan switch has gone bad, the dash goes out except the over heating symbol flashes but the engine is not hot to the touch. So i used a jumper wire from hte accessory side of the ignition switch, so the fan runs if the key is on. A new switch is about $110.00. Has anyone else done this, will it be ok to run like this as long as i check for overheating manually? Or should I replace the switch?

  18. I have a 2000 Arctic Cat 300 that starts fine and runs fine at low rpms. It puts out black smoke and cuts out at high rpms. The plug looks black and fouled like it is running too rich. Putting the choke on when riding at the highest rpm it will run smoothly at seems to make no difference. I have taken the choke apart, and it seems to operate ok. Is there a way to "lube" the choke so it slides more easily? what am I missing?
  19. Arctic Cat has unveiled a handful of early release models for 2010. The Minnesota-based manufacturer is mostly showing off some new paint, but the smallest member of the Prowler family has been given a new “XT” package of eye-catching and functional goodies, while the ATV lineup is highlighted by a 700 TRV without the cruiser trim. Of course, these are only the early release models and if 2009 is any indication we can expect a much bigger splash from Arctic Cat in the coming months. For those with short memories, Arctic Cat went hog wild in 2009 with a veritable cornucopia of new and updated ATV models headlined by the TRV 1000 H2 Cruiser, as well as a brand new 550cc powerplant. In addition, the 2009 Prowler lineup was bolstered by the high-powered 1000 H2 XTZ and the 550 Flat Bed. New Camo Arctic Cat has an all-new Advantage Timber Camo pattern in the 700H1 EFI and 550H1 EFI for 2010. According to Arctic Cat, the latest consumer analysis shows that Camo ranks very high in color preference. In fact, just 54 percent buy Camo for hunting, while the other 46 percent choose it because they like how it looks. 2010 700H1 EFI and 550H1 EFI:• 550 & 700 EFI Engine• New Body Styling on the 550• Duramatic Transmission• Standard Digital Gauge• New Electric 2WD/4WD/Differential Lock• Ride-In Suspension• Black Painted Wheels• 10” Front and Rear Suspension Travel• 11” Ground Clearance• 2” Receiver Hitch• New Advantage Timber Pattern Let’s Get Dirty The 700 MudPro has been a bit hit for Arctic Cat. For 2010 Arctic Cat has introduced the new TRV 700. It’s basically the same as the TRV 700 Cruiser that was introduced last year, only without the touring box, heated handgrips and windshield. It’s more in line with the popular TRV 550. Both the TRV 700 and TRV 550 are now available with new Metallic Black paint. 2010 Arctic Cat TRV 550 & 700:• 550 & 700 EFI Engine• Duramatic Transmission• Standard Digital Gauge • New Electric 2WD/4WD/Differential Lock• Removable Rear Seat• Optional Rack and Cargo Box• 10” Front and Rear Suspension Travel• 11” Ground Clearance• 2” Receiver Hitch• Metallic Black Paint Going Green Debuted on the Team Arctic Mud Pro 700 in 2009, the Metallic Green paint was a hit with dealers and consumers. 20. I have a 05 400 cat and did not notice that I had torn a boot untill it was to late. The outer joint is shot. How do the axles come out? Is it a c-clip that has to be removed first or is it a pin type that can be removed with a slide hammer. Love the site. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
  21. my left front axle keeps poping out of the diff. i replaced the lock ring and it didnt help what else can i do has any one else had this problem?
  22. Does any one know how to change the rear seal were the drive shaft goes into the rear end on a 2006 Arctic cat 400 4x4? thanks
  23. I have a 2000 arctic cat 300 4x4 quad. It has 960 miles on it. 1> Is the rear and front diff. supposed to be locked all the time, or did someone weld them? 2> The choke cable does not function. It is hard to start. when you do get it started, it blows white smoke and smells like gas, enough to make your eyes water at times. Will the choke cause this, or could this be a sticky needle valve? 3> Sometimes it Idles normal and then high and then back down. When I bought it, it ran all right. Now when you take off and at full throttle it will start to sputter like it is chocking itself out. I'm hoping all this leads to the choke cable. By the way, how do you get the chock cable off. I can't fit a wrench on it. Sorry if any of this has been coverd and for the long post. I appreciate any advice. Thanks, Brian....
  24. I just got a 98 Arctic Cat 400 4x4. The guy i got it from told me it needed a new carbourator. I just got a used one off of an 04, the Arctic Cat dealer in Selma, AL said it would work just fine. The only difference, as far as we could tell was that the throttle was on the opposite side (right side) than the 98 carb (left side). We put it on, but are having a little trouble. We hooked the fuel line to the plastic nipple right behind the throttle plate. Still didnt start, so we then wet a towel with gasoline (very stupid i know...not my idea, we didnt have Ether) and stuck it where the air filter enters the carb, while doin this, it almost started. So, i guess the carb is not getting fuel. I then called the mechanic who sent me the carb, he told me we had the fuel line in the wrong spot, he said it should go in the metal one on the right side. The plastic nipple which broke off while we were messing with it appartently is just for air to get in. Does anyone know if this is true because it still wont start. After i hooked it to the right side, it has a steady gas leak from carb. Also, does anyone know where i could get a replacement for the plastic nipple that broke off (apparently the one for air)? It is a very tight squeeze, and apparently it fits over a little brass swivel. Needless to say i have no idea about ATV engines, and need some adive. Lastly, does anyone know where i can get a manual or a diagram of the engine. Thanks!
  25. :confused:I know I have asked this before but just want to be sure! The axle's do just " pop " out correct? I have never taken one apart before. I tore a boot and toasted the cv joint. I have a slide hammer and will attempt this tomorrow. Does anyone know what a shop will charge to replace one? Sorry its been a long time since I have been on site but with two kids in hockey and construction the way it is did not have the money to mess with it. Hockey is over know but unfortunatly I tore my rotator mucles in shoulder and will be out of work till June. I now have nothing but time to mess with stuff so figured I would get the ATV ready for summer.
