  1. Hey guys, Im new to the ATV world just got an 86 kawasaki bayou 300 2 wheel drive the guy said it prolly needed a carb kit, said he rode it in the summer and started fine but winter its cold blooded and doesnt start very well. So i tore down the carb, put a kit in it, cleaned it out real good put a piece of wire through every whole to make sure nothing was clogged, put it back on and its doin the same thing, itll pop over once in a while but nothing to keep it running. Its got good spark and seems to have decent compression, not sure what the compression is but its there. Help Please

  4. I can only start the quad with starter fluid and it will not stay running. I just cleaned it out and i believe it is the tuning on it is off since i cleaned out the jets. Please help.
  5. Cleaned carb on my 300 fourtrax over weekend. Cannot seem to get (mid throttle) stall out of it. Does pilot adjustment mean that much in regular elevation (oklahoma) i set it where it was (2 1/4) turns out

  7. Have had the carb apart twice now and can"t find any obvious problems. but if I leave the fuel on it floods the float bowl and leaks out the overflow. What should I be checking?
  8. I just got a 98 Arctic Cat 400 4x4. The guy i got it from told me it needed a new carbourator. I just got a used one off of an 04, the Arctic Cat dealer in Selma, AL said it would work just fine. The only difference, as far as we could tell was that the throttle was on the opposite side (right side) than the 98 carb (left side). We put it on, but are having a little trouble. We hooked the fuel line to the plastic nipple right behind the throttle plate. Still didnt start, so we then wet a towel with gasoline (very stupid i know...not my idea, we didnt have Ether) and stuck it where the air filter enters the carb, while doin this, it almost started. So, i guess the carb is not getting fuel. I then called the mechanic who sent me the carb, he told me we had the fuel line in the wrong spot, he said it should go in the metal one on the right side. The plastic nipple which broke off while we were messing with it appartently is just for air to get in. Does anyone know if this is true because it still wont start. After i hooked it to the right side, it has a steady gas leak from carb. Also, does anyone know where i could get a replacement for the plastic nipple that broke off (apparently the one for air)? It is a very tight squeeze, and apparently it fits over a little brass swivel. Needless to say i have no idea about ATV engines, and need some adive. Lastly, does anyone know where i can get a manual or a diagram of the engine. Thanks!
  9. I installed a SuperTrapp Mudslinger and a K&N yesterday and took my AC 400 out for a test ride today to see how it was running. During my ride, I noticed a fuel leak that appears to be coming from the carb vent hose. The carb is bone stock, and hasn't been touched. I wanted to see how it was running before planning any jetting. What does this mean? How worried should I be?
  10. I have a 400 cc roketa 4X4 that the cvk carb runs gas out the aircleaner . I have reset the float and put a new carb on but it still overflows. It has an electronic plunger on the top of the carb that I don't know anything about so if anyone has had this problem or knows how to repair it ???????
