  1. I am trying to change my oils and do Maintenance on my Atv The dealership gave me two different kinds of oils. One for front and one for rear But the front I can figure out how to get it in there it is straight on and I can't find the rear. I found the owners manual but its not in there for rear and very limited detail on front. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
  2. Howdy, I have an issue with my Raptor 700, Last weekend I was out and about and the rear axel bearing Failed... Badly!! and im in the process of trying to change the bearings, Has anyone got any Tips on how to get the old bearings Out? or where I can get a new Rear Spacer for cheap, I don't really want to spend £60 for what seems to be just a bit of pipe
  3. Is there anyway to get the Pinion bearing out without the special tools the service manual calls for? I have not been able to remove the pinion gear shaft coupling joint yet to get to it. Cant figure out how to get that off either.
  4. Just bought a Suzuki quad. No rear brakes. Believe cable is adjusted to the max. It is a 1998 LT-4WD OR 4WDX Ser #JSAAK2A4W2100895. Is there any tricks to getting the rear hubs and shoes off that I should know before I start? Thanks Chuck
  5. i have a 2005 honda 400ex that started pulling to the left. tie rods, air pressure are all good. but i noticed my rear axel is tweak a little. i measured the distance between the front and rear wheels at the center of the axles on both side. the distance betwen the right side is shorter from what i mesured on the left side of the quad. witch is what i think is causing it to pull to the left. does anyone know how i go about aligning the rear axle? thanks
  6. have anyone brought brought a rear diffferential beraing kit for kvf300a4or kvff400 does the kit include bearing for the pinion or just for axle and neeedle bearing inside rear diff look at some of the kit but doesnt say if included bearing for pinion sent request to find out but no response needed to know before ordering because the pinion bearing is really the only one i need but cant find where u can just buy the pinion bearing without buying pinion as a set.:
  7. hard to find rear differential for my 02 kawasaki prairie 300 4x4 wonder if there other year and model would work like bayou 220/250/300 and difference years:aargh:
  8. I bought some stock wheels and tire that came off a Honda Foreman i believe. My problem is the rear rubbs my exhaust. Should I just put in a spacer and move the whole thing out an inch or two? Or should I buy 2 new wheels that have the correct backing? I have a 96 Fourtrax 300. the wheels that were on it are 9X9.0AT the new ones are 11X7.5AT.
  9. This may be kind of a silly question. The manual I got online says to use 80w GL-4 Hypoid Gear Oil. But it just says for the differential. Does that mean both the Front and Back? Thanks for your help.
  10. Was looking into reasons why my chain snapped on my '01 Scrambler 500 and was checking out the rear axle and found more front to back play on the rear axle than I ever want to see again..... Got the axle out to check the bearings and I found that the right side (sprocket side) bearings were completely demolished, like there was nothing in there... I'm hoping this didn't destroy my rear carrier but since I have never once in my life replaced bearings I'm not sure really what I'm looking at (see pics below)... do I just need to replace the bearings/seals or is the rear carrier trashed? 11. i have a 2007 kazuma 800 mammoth. When trying a hill, sometihing broke. The rear driveshaft turns but does not drive back wheels.I had to go in 4 wheel drive to get back.Does anyone know where i can download a service manual for the rear end on this?Or maybe you know what the problem is.Any help wil be greatly appreciated.
  12. More observations and questions on this new to me bike. The rear brakes work OK but its obvious that they are in need of attention. It appears to me that the brake lever has been slightly bent at somepoint in its life. Another observation is the pedal travel is huge so I use the hand brake instead. Both cable adjusters are cinched all the way down as far as they can go. I have yet to pull the wheel and inspect the pads yet. I suppose my real question is does what I've described suggest need for new pads and cables or should new pads only get my adjusters, etc back into a more "normal" state like whats is shown in the service manual pictures? Also, I think I might be able to bend the lever back but seriously wondering if it really needs to be corrected. It is definately "off" a bit but not very much. Thoughts?
  13. i thought i had bent my back disk brake because the pads are making a grinding sound every quarter turn and the caliper was wobbleing so i took it off to replace it and it was not bent ..........could i had bent the actual caliper or was it knocked out of place ?.......are either of these possible if so witch is more likly?
  14. 1994 King Quad 300. I replaced the rear pads a few weeks ago. After I adjust the foot and hand lever mechanisms, I get decent stopping power and the parking brake holds fine. But after just a little bit of use, the brake controls (both foot and hand lever) seem to be out of adjustment again. I'm fairly certain I've got the fastners tight everywhere they need to be, but I can't seem to get this gremlin licked. Any suggestions appreciated.
  15. Hello everyone! I just picked up my first quad a couple of weeks ago- a '99 King Quad with a blown motor. I mean blown to bits, probably about half the piston was gone. It looks like the exhaust valve broke and rattled around in the engine for awhile. So I bought an engine out of an '01 and dropped it in, went incredibly smooth. The new engine did not come with drive shafts so I started pulling mine off my old engine. The front one came easy enough but the u-joints in the back appear to be peened on instead of clipped. Do I need to grind the peening out and then press the u-joint out or ? Thanks!
  16. Has anyone run into this problem before? A 1990 Yamaha 350 Big Bear. Needed to replace swingarm bearings and rubber boot. Bearings done but when we (mechanic neighbour and self) went to replace the rubber boot with the factory issued new one (from Yamaha dealer) it was the wrong size. One end (swingarm end) fits fine but the other (trans side) is considerably larger - no possible fit. Both ends should be approximately same size as the swingarm end. Dealer says the previous owner likely switched out the rear end; but mechanic says there would be clear evidence of jerry rigging. He thinks possibly Yamaha Canada and Yamaha USA are different. And as poor luck would have it, I threw out the old boot! Visited a few ATV dealers about a rubber boot aprox. same side both ends but no one seems to know what to suggest. Any suggestions? Chris
  17. I replaced the rear output shaft seal a year ago and it's leaking badly again. They are a pain to do because of the yoke being bolted to the shaft and the nut behind it. Has anybody seen this happen routinely to know if there may be something contributing to it like a bushing worn out on the output shaft that allows play? Also, any helpful hints as to how to get the nut off easier? Thank you.
  18. hey i have a 04 400ex went riding yesterday and quad started to wined out when i got on the gas sounds like all the power is there but definitely didn't want to accelerate when i got on the gas ......felt like something was slipping in rear end .....got home realized my axle nuts were very loose could turn them with my hand thought that was my issue tightened them up today but bike is still doing the same thing !? ..............did i do something wrong tightening it what else could it be could my axle bearings be shot and causing this ? thanks rexy
  19. when i give it gas the rear end will torque up like the front brakes are engaged, but theyre not. giv it a little more gas and all is good. is there a problem?
  20. Hey guys and gals, I recently bought a 1994 yamaha big bear 350 with... surprise surprise.. rear diff problems. I have taken the rear diff all apart and the problem is the pinion bearings are both screwed. (Hope Im using the correct terms) Anyways there is a collar that has 4 "divets" in it that ya can beat on with a punch and it should turn. Well Ive beat on that collar and it is not turning. I have lubed, soaked, heated, cooled, you name it, and that collar will NOT budge. So as a last ditch effort before I take a die grinder and grind that collar outta there, I thought I would throw a post in here, and maybe someone has some trick or advice they can add that maybe I havent thought of. Now the axle, taking it out needed a beating, and I ended up screwing up the threads that hold the hub on, and eventually broke them right off. My plan is to drill about an inch hole in the end of the axle, thread it, thread a grade 8 bolt in there, loctite it in, then throw a bead of weld around the bolt. Im thinking for the little light duty puttering around I do with this quad, that this idea should be enough to repair the axle so the hub stays on, rather then fork out big bucks for a used or new one. Thoughts on both repairs would be great!
  21. i finally had a chance to work on my king quad after burying it up to the handlebars in quick-sand i found in the back corner of a gravel pit pond, i did not break an axle as i was previously thinking, i tore up the rear differential, its bad enough i can grab the left axle and move the right axle with it, oops, oh well, its all part of playing, tomorrow i will tear the rearend down and see how bad i tore it up, as much strain as i had it in trying to break free i probably completely trashed the rearend!! at least the snorkel worked properly, did not get any water or sand inside my engine, transmission, front differential or rear differential, had it sitting buried up to the the top of the speedometer, the bike has been lifted, it was a little over 4 feet deep, all you could see was the top of the handlebars and the snorkel pipes sticking up, but, it never stalled out, it stayed buried and idled the whole time till we could get it out, took my honda rancher tied off to a tree with a double blocked winch cable and everything that 700 had to break free and pull out, was able to drive it back to the trailer, all in all i would say that was an awesome ride!!!! will be hopefully have it back in the game by tomorrow evening, definitely found out the 700 has plenty of power to tear itself up when you get it in a bind, with the axles upgraded to gorillas and custom built driveshafts the differentials are now the weak points, anyone have any ideas for armor tough differentials that will fit the 05 king quad 700, this bike is not stock, the original owner was in the middle of turning an almost new bike into a full blown mud drag bike when outside events made him give up on it and give me the bike, not sure the horsepower but i would not be surprised if it has 100 horses, stock parts are not tough enough
  22. Brand new OEM Vinson rear bumper. $60 shipped to your house. Suzuki part # 990A0-45043
  23. i have a 99 warrior and i am wanting to do the rear shock swap with a raptor 660 shock, has anyone done this that can tell me if all i need is the shock and its direct replacement or what all do i need? im a BIG rider and my poor lil warrior is low in the rear.. i read that i can upgrade to the rap660 shock and it will help alot.. any help is appreciated.. thanks
  24. I've gotten the wheel off, disassembled the brake assembly and gotten the new pads on. Now I'm trying to get the axle back into the hub, and having some trouble. The splines line up, but the axle on goes in until the end of the axle is flush with the hub. It still needs to go another two or three inches to be completely seated. I've tapped at it with a hammer, but I don't want to damage anything. My fear is that a bearing may be worn or loose and the axle isn't centering when I try to tap it in. Any experience/advice shared would be most helpful.
  25. 1998 4x4 rear bevel spline stripped and a bad axle anyone know where to get one without buying a new bevel gear set?
