  1. Hello All I'm new to the site and its a pleasure to be here. I want to ask a question about my bike. Last year I replaced my Kodiak rear axle, 2 bearings and 2 seals. Less than a year later the bearings are bad and I've had water in the rear diff the last couple of rides. I'm going to replace the bearings but my question is how are the seals oriented. Both of them kind of have lips on one side and flat on the other. How are they supposed positioned in the rear diff. Any help or tips would be appreciated. Thanks
  2. Good morning.... Just curious if anyone can make recommendations on which brand or type to install on my 2012 KQ? Also, are these projects simple enough to be done by the average Joe or does a dealer need to get involved? I can handle nuts and bolt stuff, but not certain of electrical work needed to tie a winch into the system. Thanks Sent from my DROID X2 using Tapatalk
  3. Can any body help with what to check in the final drive/rear end And it only runs with the choke on?????????????????????????????????
  4. While going on a neighborhood run,I lost my rear brake. Well not lost as in missed placed but my brake pedal went instantly to the lever stop. When I am pushing the atv by hand I can stop the quad with the rear brake but above 15 mph its like i am not using any brake. Rechecked the pads at half way. I have about little more than half way between full and empty marks on the brake resevoir of fluid. Should I bleed or did I just blow out my master cylinder? Sent from my SGH-T959V using Tapatalk
  5. Greetings: Bought the above machine a few weeks ago. Cosmetically it's a little rough, the front wheel drive does not work but the engine is strong and runs well. I have been driving it a little around the yard until I can get some things fixed and the left wheel axle came right out of the housing! The axle didn't slide all the way out but could be pulled out by hand. The bearings where gone, the only thing left on axle was the rubber dust cover. I looked at some schematics to see what I need to buy to fix it, two sets of bearings, dust cover and the C ring. My question is, what holds the axle in the housing????? The C ring? I can't figure it out. Has anyone completed this procedure? Sorry about the question not being clearer. Thanks for the help, Eric
  6. So I was getting the quads off the trailer after sitting for 3.5 months and one makes this loud 'clanking' sound from the rear end. Its a 2000 Warrior 350. As best as I can tell, its from the axle area but I'm not 100% sure. It happens when it is rolling. It didn't do this when we put them on the trailer back in march. Here are two videos showing the sound; [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sj5AMJ2_H7U[/ame] [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cborkO8p5Dk[/ame] The second video shows it the best. I dont know what it is... bearings maybe? Please let me know!
  7. Just bought 1998 300ex previous owner took master cyl. apart. I have got kit but don't know which way the rubber seals go on piston do they both cup side face toward spring end.
  8. I have a 2003 Polaris Predator 500 & I want to know if the 2005 Predator rear wheel hub will fit it? If not, is there another hub that will fit it. Give me the make & year of the replacement that will work...please.
  9. Hey guys, New to the forum and atv's so I may ask ALL KINDS of questions! Just traded for an 03 Kawasaki Prairie 360 4x4 that seems to bottom out in the rear REAL EASY! I'm a bit of a large guy, but it seems to sag pretty good with normal size family members. When the suspension cycles in the rear, just by pushing on the rear rack, the shock makes a LOUD hissing sound like it's not got enough fluid or something. Any ideas or do I just need a new shock or is this normal??? Thnx
  10. brakes were sticking i tore down to the hub! how does the hub come off the aluminum plate? any info is appreciated! i am mechanically inclined just have never worked on atvs!
  11. I recently replaced the rear shoes on the rear brakes, and it seems that I can't get them adjusted. It's just like when they went out, adjust them to the max. I put in the new springs etc but have to crank the adjusters on the rear axel all the way in and it's still not enough. Is there something I am missing? Any help would be great! Thanks
  12. The rear axle and wheels intermittently locks up as if the rear transmission is seized. The problem just started happening. The problem comes and goes; seems to mysteriously go away until it happens again. Any help would be appreciated. 2000 Suzuki King Quad LT-F300 4X4
  13. I own a 2000quadmaster500 and the rear diff is missing gear teeth on ring gear and pinion gear I located A rear diff out of A 2003 500vinson does anyone know if it would fit?
  14. Ok I have replaced the rear brake shoes on my Eiger and still have the same problem with them just not working. I have tried everything I have even loosened both adjustment nuts on the swing arm by the drum as far out as possible and then turned the shaft for the brakes so they would start pushed out a little and then put the swing arm on and am still having a problem with them just not working. I will tighten the adjustment bolt all the way back in after putting the swing arm on the shaft and squeezing the brake lever moves the shoes but they for some reason don't touch the drum. I bought a new set and both have the exact same amount of pad on them. So my question is is there anything I should be looking for or doing or if someone has pics they could post of their setup I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks Mike
  15. My rear brake linkage become embedded with mud and burned out the rear wet brakes in the differential. I have found the replacement parts but was wondering if anyone has removed the rear differential and can provide some tips. Yes I am sure the plates are shot. Thanks
  16. HEY ALL, NEW TO THE SITE..MY POLARIS XPLORER 400 REAR BRAKES WONT WORK...JUST FILLED WITH FLUID BUT STILL NOTHING...I PURCHASED THE QUAD USED RECENTLY AND GOT A DECENT DEAL ON IT... I OPENED UP THE BRAKE FLUID RESEVOIR AND REALIZED IT WAS COMPLETELY EMPTY. WHEN i RODE IT I REALIZED THAT THE FOOT PEDAL HAD ABSOLUTELY NO FUNCTION AT ALL. YOU CAN PUSH IT ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR BOARD AND THE QUAD STILL DOESNT EVEN THINK OF SLOWING DOWN. IM THINKING PADS BUT NOT ENTIRLY SURE JUST THOUGHT ID GET ANOTHER OPINION...THANKS IN ADVANCE
  17. Hi Guys Ive been racing for a while now but I've noticed that the bikes I race against seem to have a wider axle not sure if thats the right term then the one I currently have on. Now wen I take corners my bike always lifts up instead of being flush. Should I change my width on the rear axle?
  18. i just got another rear bearing carrier off ebay and before i put it on i need to find out how much to tighten the axle. Also, i just saw a pic on this site and the axle nuts are on the right side. Mine are on the left. Does it matter?

  20. I bought this quad about 2 months ago and it runs great. When I bought it the guy said all it neede was rear brake pads. I put new pads on it only to come to the realization that the rear master cylinder is frozen. I bought a rebuild kit for the cylinder and had the cylinder working until I put brake fluid into it. I put dot 3 brake fluid in it and tried to mount it and it had seized up again. I tokk it apart again and now the piston won't go back into the cylinder. I was told that the dot 3 brake fluid may have swelled the gasket on the piston. Can this really happen? Any help or suggestions would be awesome. Thanks!
  21. I have a 2003 Arctic Cat 500 Green automatic. I have just put in the third seal in the front where the drive line goes into the rear end. Put it together spun the tires, while it was up on the stand and no leakage. Took it out for 1/2 mile test ride and I'll be dammed if it wasn't leaking again when I got back. First time I replaced the seal I didn't use OEM. So I ordered two seals from Arctic Cat and Hubby replaced the second one. He isn't as mechanical as I am so thought he messed up. I spent 3 hours on replacing it this time. Made sure all parts were cleaned and fit good. Now it is leaking again. Am I missing something here? Is there a vent for the rear end that may be plugged and causing excess pressure to make the gear grease run out around the inside of the seal? I am open for suggestions.
  22. ne1 no of any rear shocks from other quads that will bolt right up or have little modification to fit a 1986 lt230 quadsport
  23. Was wondering if there was a rear end that was interchangeable with this ATV. I heard somewhere that the 350 foreman was, could anyone verify this for me.
  24. If anyone can offer any assistance in replacing the rear cv boot any help would be appreciated. I am having trouble getting the rear shaft off of the quad. I figured the part would have some sort of manual but that would be too easy. Thanks again!
  25. So I landed a jump the other day and the rear shock compressed but took about 30 seconds to recoil. After messing around with it for a while I jumped it again and it started recoiling properly again, but after a few hours of riding it went back to recoiling very slowly. So is rebuilding an option or would it just be cheaper to buy one for $99 on ebay? Also what could have happened internally for something like this to happen. btw its a fox shock with piggy-back reservoir.
