  1. I have a 1990 Big Bear 350 4x4, and i have a spark problem : has spark 2, 3 seconds after that has no spark and again 2,3 seconds spark after that no spark I checked the stator and is within normal parameters Coil and spark plug ar new cdi is ok I'm sorry but I used google translate because i am from Romania please help thanks
  2. Ok Im not a big Yammi fan but I was excited to see what all the hype was. Did anyone else fall asleep while viewing it? Yamaha dropped the ball making a big deal out of nothing Anyone care to discuss? Sent from my SGH-T989 using Xparent BlueTapatalk 2
  3. Hello. We have a 2002 yamaha warrior and need a stator for it does anyone have a used good one they would like to part with or a place to get a good used one. Also any opinions about what could be wronge?
  4. I have a 1994 Yamaha Kodiak 400 4x4 and it turns over but won't start unless you hook a rope to it and pull it then it starts right up every time and runs fine. At first after you pulled it the first time then run it a while it would start back on its own until it cooled down then you had to pull it again. I noticed that it was putting a little black smoke out of the muffler so we cleaned the carb adjusted it and put a new spark plug in it but it still won't start. What could be wrong with it
  5. Hi everyone I have a 2001 raptor 660 and I had it up to 75 mph and everyone says there is this speed limiter that won't let it go over 75 mph. I was wondering what you could do to make it go over 75 without different gearing or sprockets. Could you remove this limiter somehow. Thank You everything is stock besides the K and N airfilter
  6. I charged my battery on a 87 yamaha timberwolf 250 and left the key on like a dummy. Now that i have a battery that is fully charged i have nothing when i hit the start button. I can just stator and have spark. I used to turn the key and have the neutral light. But no light and when i hit the start button i get nothing. What could my issue be?
  7. I just picked up a cheap big bear Im trying to fix up needs alot of work so going thru it piece by piece. 1. The air box is completely stripped no breather hose, no hose to carb, and no filter or pieces inisde. Can anyone tell me if the typical K&N air filter comes with everything I need... I know it was a oiled element stock that slid onto a sleeve which I dont have so Im trying to find the quickest easiet way to get it back together. 2. I bought a new ignition and plugged it in and it started hissing and getting hot at the plug connection, I ripped it out quick and checked with my meter and it still seems to be ok. So can anyone tell me if there brown wire the wire thats hot with ignition on has continuity to ground.... I traced mine all the way back to getting ground thru the neutral and reverse switches thru the relays and all. The only other thing I can figure is it seems when i pulled the ignition plug off the 2 prongs looked like they are pushed in too far as if they wouldt insert/engage into the female plugs on the opposite plug and maybe its jumping/arcing and shorting out. I do have a service manual, wiring diagrams, and found OEM parts diagrams I just cant make sense of these couple things with out a little direction. Any ideas???
  8. Ok so recently I purchased this four wheeler (my first atv) fairly cheap. There are almost no brakes on the rear (barely enough to stop, loading it was a sight!) and the front brake lever has no pressure at all. I'm guessing the front brakes just might need to be bled but i can't find the bleeder screw. The person I bought the atv off of says it is a 1997 model but after inspecting the VIN I have found that it is actually a 1994 model. After knowing this and also knowing that yamaha changed the brakes from discs to drums after 1996 could he have installed the wrong parts? He says he put new pads on the front and back and also a new rear brake cable. Could this be why the brakes are not working? What should I do?
  9. Hello I'm looking for a service manual for a 99 Yamaha big bear 4x4, Much would be appreciated.
  10. Can eney one help just brought a sma-gbt10 for my grandson need to know the oils and how much and where can i get a workshop manual, please.
  11. Hello, I have a 2001 Warrior 350 that has had its fair share of ignition problems. The last time it was riden was September 2012 and it did not start easily, but did after about 3 minutes of cranking. Fired up fine the rest of the day. Got home, cleaned it off, wouldn't start. Currently, we figired out that the problem I am having is I only get one spark each time the key is turned on, then nothing. Turn the key off and on again and you get one more spark. I have replaced the stator pick-up coil combo, both test where they should in their ohms, but did come from e-bay and not a reputable company. I have tried the CDI, rectifier, and ignition coil off of my brothers 99 Warrior which starts on the first tap of the start button without fail every time, and same thing on my quad. I then put my CDI rectifier, and ignition coil on his quad and it fired right up, so I knew it wasn't them. I even tried swapping the entire wire harness. I pulled the flywheel, looked at the little half circle metal piece, it is ok. My flywheel is good. I tried the parking break disconnect, but am not 100% sure that I did this correct. Need someone to explain this better. Still having the same symptom after all of these changes. I am starting to go nuts, :aargh:, so I was hoping maybe someone could offer a little help. I am starting to wonder if something is wrong with the stator and it is somehow affecting the spark, like maybe I got a defective part. Only other thing I could think to do is swap my brothers side cover and stator to see if it is that my stator is bad. If it were bad though, why would the ohms test well? If you have any ideas that I haven't already tried, please let me know. Thanks!!!
  12. Hi All, dose anybody have by any chance soft copy of Clymer to Yamaha Kodiak 1993-1998 that he can send me? if not dose anybody know from were I can download it for free? Thanks in advance Oren
  13. What would be the Oil Recommendations for 1995 Yamaha Kodiak 400? Thank You I appreciate your help.
  14. I have a Problem. I rebuilt the Carburator on my 1995 Yamaha Kodiak 400. It Starts fine. It Idols fine. I can even putt around in 1st gear. But when I give it throttle and go it will want to die. Sometimes I can drive it and it is fine, BUT most of the time when I go and shift from 1st to 2nd and try to give it gas, it chokes out or looses power and then dies. I thought maybe the fuel line was too long because the gas is gravity feed so I shortened it. Still acts up. Is there an Air/Fuel mixture adjustment on Carb? I know of the screw at the bottom of the carburator but isnt that just idol speed adjustment? Please, Any Suggestions? Thank You
  15. got a seal leaking in front right side of transfer case how hard to fix and bike boggs down when giving it throttle had carb checked and rebuilt seems like too much air going in carb any ideas...also clicking when turning handle bars but not in u joints i feel it in rod going into transfer case its not really loud...just wanting ideas thanks cracking into all this tomorrow....
  16. I own a 1998 Yamaha Big Bear 350 4x2. It has hydraulic drum front brakes and mechanical single drum brake in rear. When I bought the quad a yr ago the brakes barely worked. I installed rebuild kit for brake master cylinder, replaced wheel cylinders up front, front/rear shoes, and replaced rear brake cable. The front brakes grab sort of ok now, but the rear barely grabs at all. On a side note; If I drive through any trails with muddy water, moisture is getting inside the drums. Worse in the rear drum. These drum brakes have never worked great. They slow me down but don't have enough bite to lock up the wheels. Now I have considered my drums may have worn thin, therefore causing the shoes to not make strong enough contact (???) I'm guessing. The front brakes are spooned out so they fit snug and they work just ok. The rears I have adjusted close to the maximum setting for the actuator arm. I read online about a Yamaha 1998 Big Bear 4x4 owner using a 2004 Big Bear 4x4 front disc brakes on it. He did have to dremel and drill out the lower ball joint to make new knuckles fit since the 04 knuckle has it's ball joint on bottom. It sounded cool and the owner claimed it stopped better. I'm considering a conversion, but it sounds expensive. I hate sinking $400+ worth of disc brake parts into a quad a bought for $500, and I already replaced the existing brake parts I previously listed. I'm just tired of my brakes working poorly and every time I get into some water on the trails the drums look like a septic tank inside the next day. I live in FL and this is the land of the Swamp. There is no avoiding mudholes and water. I would like some brakes that could survive any wet conditions. Any suggestions or helpful advice is appreciated.
  17. I bought a good running 01 warrior for cheap sounded like it just needed a valve adjustment. Got it home started to check the valves and ugh oh the jam nut on the intake valve is gone. I checked and checked but could not find it. Could the ticking noise I thought was a bad valve adjustment be that nut rattling around somewhere ? Is the next step to start taking the engine apart in search of a nut? For all I know the previous owner took off the nut and lost it. Unlikely but possible. What shall I do next?
  18. I replaced the pads on the back of my Warrior late of last year or early this year. Can't remember when exactly. Apparently I bought some crappy pads cause I wore them out already and messed up the rotor some. I have a new rotor and pads to put on but I have a problem. I can't get the Allen Wrench bolts to break loose. I am hoping someone can tell me there is a trick to getting them loose. I could see my allen wrench twisting trying to get them loose. Actually messed up the bolts some.
  19. Hi All i have a 2000 Kodiak 400 that seems to have a starter bearing problem and i would like to confirm it with your help. the electric start works but does not engage the drive shaft. the bike however it will start with the pull starter. little hard on the arm tho. i have removed the pull starter and the staiter but at this stage am having trouble getting the flywheel off with out a puller to do the the work (any hints gratefully accepted). i have done this to check the one way starter bearing. If you could help me i would be greatful. Thanks Jenko
  20. New to the forum, I have that year and model atv and I cannot get it to idle so far at all... I bought it off this lady who had let it set for two years without starting it.... I can get it to run as long as i use the throttle to start it, but when I let off it will not idle at all... I did buy a rebuild kit.. and the only things i changed was the things inside where the float goes... reckon one thing is called a needle valve... so changed that and anything else within the carburator where the float is at... including changing the float... I did notice the shut off for gas does not completely shut off when on the off spot... but still it should idle when starting it I would think.... I can pull the choke out all the way and it will idle but when i push the choke back in it will stall right away... can anyone help I do not know much about working on atvs.. also i cannot find a idle screw anywhere on the carburator, there is a real big screw around the bottom area facing toward the ground, but when i turn it i cannot tell a bit in the idleing rather i turn it one way are the other.. sure would appreicate any advice.. thank you
  21. 2003 Yamaha Warrior 350 Overheat and Gas/Air Mix Problems. My Warrior seems to be overheating on me. I live in Metropolitan Arizona, and I expect to have some issues with heat ,but not this bad. After about 30-40 minutes of riding it wants to die on me, the only thing to do to keep it from dieing is keep it revved up at idle and between gears. Tell me what you think about that issue. The next issue is that my Gas/Air mixture might be off. I don't know which screw is the mixture screw, I know which one is the idle screw. And I do know thats it all the way in 2.5 turns out on the mixture. It needs a new throttle cable and will come eventually. I'm just trying to fix these two issues for now. And last issue, but I think its more so related to the gas/air mixture. I takes FOREVER to start my quad. At least 10 minutes. I know its not getting enough air (or too much gas) because I had to take three of the screws out of the air filter cabin to get more air into the carburetor. When the air filter cabin lid is screwed down with all 5 screws it takes forever to start Full choke, about 10-15 minutes, and 50-75 cranks (tallying an almost dead battery), but when its propped open with a tire plug tool, it doesn't take AS long. Full choke, about 3 minutes and 25-35 cranks later! From my understanding a finely tuned ATV should only take a minimum of 2-10 cranks to start on full choke. Could there be some other issues with my carburetor besides the gas/air mixture being off? Like like the float or the jets? Please, any help will be greatly appreciated. Nathan L. Mesa, AZ
  22. Hello... I recently bought a used 1997 yamaha kodiak 400 4x4 .. I cannot find no 4wd switch on it at all... I got the manual for it from someone on this site and it shows its on the drivers side handle bar where you give it gas but there is nothing there at all... so thought maybe it had been removed but there is no lose wiring no where that connected to anything there... so i been trying to figure out how to get from 2wd into 4wd but there is no switch to push on it as far as I can tell... and my neighber said the reason i could not pull the manual cable to start the atv is because you have to release compression with a nob are something before it will pull easy to start the atv? Sure would appreicate anyones thoughts on these two things thank you
  23. I have a grizzly that has a lower engine knock. Any pointers you guys can give me on tearing it apart to fix the problem? im guessing a connecting rod is knocking. Im going to take the head and cylinder off tomorrow to inspect the piston to conecting rod and see if thats my problem. im betting its the lower bearing or something. the manual says you have to remove the engine to replace the lower...is that right? any tips?? thanks for any and all help.
  24. so i just got a yamaha warrior 6 speed from a i cannot get it out of "neutral" the reverse light is also on.... when i move the shifter the gears still click any ideas on how to fix this would be great thank you!
