  1. got a seal leaking in front right side of transfer case how hard to fix and bike boggs down when giving it throttle had carb checked and rebuilt seems like too much air going in carb any ideas...also clicking when turning handle bars but not in u joints i feel it in rod going into transfer case its not really loud...just wanting ideas thanks cracking into all this tomorrow....
  2. I am a noob. Recently bought a 95 Xplorer off craigslist to have some fun with and plow my drive. When I purchased it the seller said all it needed was a new battery. It consistently started on the second pull at first. Now it fires up right away or I nearly throw my back out. It doesnt seem to fire at all when it wont start. The electric starter doesnt work. The relay just clicks when trying to use the electric start. I shorted the positive battery terminal to the starter but got nothing. I was going to take the starter out to see about replacing it but thought I should get it running consistently from the pull first. Any suggestions? Possible simple checks? Spark plugs or the carb were my first thoughts but I am new to working on a 2-stroke.
  3. I have a Polaris 250, 2 stroke. The oil pump drive gear disintegrated due to age It’s made of plastic. I ordered a top end kit, crank bearings, oil pump gear (steal)! I had the cylinder bore 10 thou. Starts right up and runs great until it warms up. Then want to die at an idle and seem to run hot like it is running to lean. I brought up the needle on the slide to richen it up but it runs very rich. ( 2 stroke pop chug pop) Like they do when running rich. I wonder if the WSM piston is not expanding when hot or if the bore job was a poor job.
  4. This is my first post and I have some pics which I have attached. I have just bought a doer upper, Big Bear 1995 350 fwd. My first ever quad !! I took off the odometer cable and housing from the crankcase and there was no drive gear on the end of the cable. No sign of it in the part of the crankcase I could see. I am concerned the drive gear could have fallen down into the crankcase. Can I just take off the crankcase cover while the engine is in place to check if the cog has fallen into anything it could damage when I next start it up.
  5. My Honda 4trax 300 will not start nor run unless the choke is engaged. It runs best when the choke is completely engaged. Cleaned and looked at everything I know to try......any suggestions?
  6. Hey everyone! I hope someone can help me out. I have a 95 LT-F4WDX that I have been having a strange problem with. It starts & idles perfectly but when I try to rev it up it spits & sputters. I found about 2 weeks ago that when I turned the switch to "headlights on" it ran fine. That worked for a few days but then I had to position the beam selector switch in the middle of high/low beam for it to run right. That worked for about two days, now it must be on low beam & it has to warm up for about 15 - 20 minutes before it will run ok. When switched to high beam, the lights go out & it dies. It seems to me like it needs to have a load to keep running right. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks!
  7. I picked up my first quad last week. A 1995 Wolverine 4X4 350. It has issues, but I got it cheap (I hope!) It runs and rides well. The issue is mostly wiring. Someone in its pervious life has buggered up the wiring. I installed a new battery and ground cable, but I have to jump the selonoid to start it. There are a few wire connections not connected. The start button feels as if there is no spring behind it. Lights do not work. The ignition is missing, I assume they had bypassed that with some creative wiring. The question is: Should I locate a wiring harness and start from there? I am having trouble finding manuals, diagrams for the quad. Just looking for direction at this point. Joe

Man gave me this bike.It has sat in a barn under some blankets and saddles for 5 or 6 years everything is rusted.Motor turns over.I have a new starter coming today.I have body off.I have back brake working.For now I need to know how to get front brakes of.By the way last bike(2 wheel)I worked on was back in 60's.
  9. Could someone please explain how this could happen? The bolts that hold the stator plate in place came loose and broke all the wires going to the cdi and coil.there`s 7 wires coming out of it. I rewired the wiring and finally got it to crank up and run but..........for some strange reason when you put the gear selector in f for foward, it`s in reverse and when youi put it in reverse it goes foward any help or suggestions would be really appreciated.
  10. I recently bought a Polaris 95' Magnum 425 4x4 and when i bought it went into gear with a good shove (Automatic ) anyways now it wont go into Hi,Lo, or R. I hear it click when i forcefully put it into gear but wont move. Also i wanna note that after a week of having it (never offroaded wit it yet only because the rear was loose and i had to replace bushing to keep it from shaking) That it went foward in Hi,LO, N, and R than just wouldnt go back into gear after that. Any ideas?
  11. im having problems with my quad flooding out. i have cleaned the carb,petcok, fuel lines then once its running i can take the vacume line off from the petcok to the carb and it runs 100 times better but as soon as i connect the hose it sucks gas and chokes out the bike can anyone help please.
  12. I just recently bought a really clean 1995 King Quad (280cc) from the original owner with 991 miles on it. This is the model with the three shifters in the middle. Battery was dead, but pull started on the first or second pull each time. So today I installed a new battery, and I had no lights (no headlights, no neutral light, no reverse light) and no power to starter. First thing I checked were the fuses. BOTH of them were blown, so I replaced them (the extra fuses were still in the case, so I don't think this was an ongoing issue). With the fuses replaced, I have all lights, including neutral and reverse. I went to start it, and the starter first cranked really slow (like battery was low, which it isn't since I topped the charge off before I installed it), then cranked even slower, than just clicked each time I tapped the key. It almost started the first time I cranked it, but choke wasn't set right. I am thinking I have a bad starter, but wonder if there are any other suggestions out there. The bike was sitting indoors its whole life, but did sit for about a year without being started. Is there something that would blow BOTH the fuses (a 15amp and a 20amp)? The 20amp was working the dash pod lights and starter. Not sure what the 15amp was for. ATV runs fantastic, but I am not going to keep pull starting it. I already darn near lost a finger when I forgot to hit the decrompression switch LOL.
  13. I use my ATV for harrowing a horse sand school. Last week engine stopped 15 minutes in use. Re-started twice but just loss power within seconds. Finally would not re-start. Stripped and checked carb. Replaced plug. Will not start - any ideas? Using 4wd and mid range gear. It has always started well with charged battery.
  14. I've got a 1995 Polaris Magnum 425 4x4. When I rev it up and let off the gas and then rev it up before it gets back to idle it bogs down pretty bad. It does not idle very long at all before it dies. I've changed the spark plug and cleaned the carburetor 3 or 4 times and soaked it, rinsed it and blew out all passages with compressed air and still have same problem when I put everything back together. Also, a few minutes after I crank the 4 wheeler, gas starts coming out of the drain at the bottom of the carburetor with a fast drip. I thought the gas might have been somehow going through/around the drain screw so I bought a new drain screw and it's still dripping. After I kill it, gas still leaks until I shut fuel line off. Was also wondering if any parts off a 2000 Polaris Scrambler 500 would fit on the 95 magnum. Any information or advice would be very much appreciated. Thanks!
  15. I have a 1995 scrambler and when i ride it for awhile it will start to smoke like crazy. This is what i have checked. The gas had some water in it when i drained it put new gas in it ran great for a while then i got on it pretty good and it looked like a cloud of smoke coming out anyone have i idea what my problem is?
  16. hi some kid wrecked my LT-300 into a pond.......upside down. don't ask. anyway, i think i have everything back to normal except, when the quad idles the exhaust pipe get cherry red, pretty quickly. i assume it to be a mixture problem. it starts and runs fine. any thoughts? if it is mixture, how do I adjust it? one thing I should tell you is that a friend took off a cable screw from the bottom of the mikuni to let water out (which was wrong). anyway, i have put that back in the carb but, don't know what that is or whether that needs to be adjusted too. (it's a black phillips head screw that has a cable that goes to the bottom of the carb). help me, please. tx
  17. Do yall have any suggestions on where to get new tires ,i think the back are 25x10x12 and the front are 24x8x11,or is there any lift kits so i can go with bigger tires?

  19. on my 95 bigbear. i ust completely cleaned every nook and cranny. what is the proper carb adjusting procedure? how many turns on the air screw, and setting the cable, how far up is the slide supposed to be?
  20. hey guys. new hear. i just got a 95 big bear that ran fine when i looked at it, but now when i startit, it idles real bad. it runs for a bit at a higher idle, then dies right down and then dies. fire it back up and turn the idle screw in and it idles high. will run fine for a bit then stutters and idles down almost dies then lights up again, then a second later, dies. ive cleaned the carb the best i can . blew out the passages and tried again. still does the same . the air screw was bottomed right down. i opened it to about 2 turns out. seemed to bring the idle back up, then stuters and back down till almost dead, then dies. any suggestions?
  21. i just want to say hi first off. i just got burned bad on a quad. 95 yammy bigbear 4x4. anyways, i get home and get stuck. front wheels dont spin. first i thought that the cv joints are gone. find out after tearing front end apart that the gears inside the diff will turn when you turn the yolk by hand. as soon as you put the splined shaft of the cv joint into the diff, and turn the yolk going into the diff, the cv's on both side wont turn when you hold them with your hand. im baffled as to whats wrong. i pulled the diff apart and took out the big gear and disassembled that gear. in side that gear there are three rings that have like a checkerd pattern on them. the outer one looks to have the pattern worn off. are these some kind of clutch plates or pressure plates that lock up the cv's and make them turn? if you spin the yolk that goes into the front diff and look into where the cv's go, you can see the spline turn. as soon as the splines on the cv shaft go in the spline inside3 the diff stop turning when turning tha yolk by hand. please help. i payed 1500 for this thing and after having it for 2 hrs, the guy tells me go to hell.
  22. I have a 1995 kodiak 400. Have to replace the A-arm, ball joint. I am having trouble removing the 2 old bushings on the motor side. Anyone have any ideas on making this easier? I have a new bushing kit, so was wondering if heat may help loosen them up? Thanks for any help. Mike

  24. When the key is turned on i have power to my igintion but the neutral light isnt coming on and i cannot turn my lights on and it will not even turn over when i hit the start button. Anyone have any ideas?
  25. 95 Yamaha Warrior, bored 20 over, Wiesco piston, WB .440 cam, titanium springs, K&N w/precharger, FMF Megamax II-6 baffles, Hi-flo header, Mikuni roundslide carb w/ ?jet sizes. My issues.... gas flows from the overflow tube on carb. Not constantly, but does flow a lot of gas when it does. stutters 1/4 - 1/2 throttle through each gear, but runs smooth if I hit full throttle through all gears. Runs perfect if I go from a dead stop full throttle 1st through 6th (as if I'm racing to top speed). Very difficult to determine if rich or lean. Header not red. After riding for 5 minutes or so, I've checked the plug. Was white sometimes and black sometimes. Today, was riding in 1st gear for less than 2 minutes and it began to idle high, went forward about 30 feet without using the throttle(sounded like it was throttling up), then just shut off. Could not get it started again. pulled the plug- it was black and wet. Cleaned it then put it back in- ran fine. Background- All above mods were done and ran fine for 2 years. Had to do a top end rebuild. After that, ran just fine for another year. Then had someone clean the carb and adjust the valves. Since this time, my quad hasn't ran the same. I know its not jetting cause it ran fine and the over-sized carb came from alba action pre jetted for my area and quad set-up. Any ideas? needle jet setting?? I use 93 octane with stabilizer. Gas is fresh.
