  8. ok, so I have a decent knowledge of quads and small engines as I worked with them all summer in Oklahoma. However I am stumped on what to do right now. I received a four-wheeler from a buddy who asked if I could clean his carb as he thought the float was stuck. So I did. when I put it back on it worked pretty good. Im pretty sure the starter is bad so I have to pull start it but I did pull start it and it fired up first pull and ran pretty good. however now it will not idle at all soooo im thinking jets? also it dies quickly unless I put my hand over the air intake and "choke" it and it will rev then. ive been readin about a vaccum valve or something? is that the problem? alllso my solenoid clicks and ive light tested it and I believe it is good but starter doesn't even think about working soooo bad starter? I just don't wanna waste a bunch of money buyin stuff and that not being whats wrong with it. Any suggestions will help me out, thanks so much for your time guys.
  9. 2003 Arctic cat 400 2x4 FIS I have a no spark issue. I was riding daring deer season, stopped and looked around got back on and it would not start. Waited about 15 mins and it fired up made it back to the trailer, next morning tried to unload and it hit one time ,then nothing, no fire. The ohms coming out of the magneto ,green blue and yellow white wires are within spec. The charging side black black wire was a little high. About .6 ohm’s spec is .32 to .48 ohm’s Checked the ignition coil voltage white/blue wire. I got 190v, spec is 31v and with the starter depressed I got about 188v spec is 130v. I got the same reading with the trigger discounted. ? Would the regulator/rectifier cause this problem or is it the CDI fried ????? Thanks for any help!!!!!
  10. Just joined the forum and was hoping to get some advise on a problem Im having with a new quad I picked up for my son. Its a 2003 LT160 Quadrunner. When I bought it the guy said it ran fine and was riding it when I got there. It ran great, good power, idled fine, etc. and restarted easily. when I got it home (90min ride) it would not start and killed the battery (which I knew was weak already) The next day I charged the battery up and still could not get it to start. I tried choke on and off and throttle one and off with no real difference . The very 1st crank it sounded like it wanted to fire, but after that it just turned (does not sound like it is firing). I removed the air cleaner and gave it a shot of starting fluid and it started right up and kept running great! Let it sit a week, got a fresh battery in it, topped off the fuel and got basically the same thing. 1st initial crank it tried to fire and nothing after that. Any ideas what might be going on that would cause it to not start unless I use Starting Fluid? So far I have not taken apart anything to troubleshoot. Thanks!
  11. I found one locally that looks brand new. I'm talking pristine. Has nerf bars and a front bumper but everything else is stock. Guy says he hasn't rode it in 2 years, but it runs perfectly. He wants $1800 and is firm on the price. He has the title for it. Is this a decent deal or should I keep looking?
  12. In an unfortunate incident, I ruined the rear fender of my friends 2003 Suzuki LT-F400F. I am searching for a replacement fender, but as I check the parts list I see two rear fenders listed with no way to determine the one I should order. I'm guessing that the difference is in the thickness of the plastic, but I'm not sure. Can anyone tell me if what the difference would be, so I can get my buddy up and going again? Thanks. The PNs are 63111-38F21-YT9 and 63111-38F41-YT9.
  13. Anyone have any suggestions for making my chasis any faster? The motor seems to be too fast for my suspension and me too! I refuse to waste money on Elka shocks/springs. Would like to go with Fox air shox. Also cant go wider than 48" in the front. Where should I start. Right now I have a factory suspension on the rear with a wide axle to 48". On the front I have factory 450r shocks and a steering stabilizer. Its still too bouncy for my taste Sent from my SGH-T989 using Xparent Blue Tapatalk 2
  14. So I got a 2003 arctic cat 400 in a trade it was sputtering a little so I drained gas and cleaned the carb. Ran good for about a day then started back. I took the carb off again and cleaned it, it had dirt in it again. While I had it off I soaked the air filter in gas and then blew it out and cleaned the intake. While I was waiting for stuff to dry I have seen where people run there snorkels straight from the carb and tun the air filter off the top of snorkel so out of curiosity I ran it like that and I made a mistake of not checking to see if my pipes had dirt in them well I ran it and after a minute or two it started smoking from the intake so I shut it off and there was sand around the inside of the intake and now it won't start back up I'm wondering what I could have messed up and what I can do to fix. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated!!!

  17. I hadn't driven my Kodiak for a two months, and since it was low on fuel, the first thing I did was filled it up to maybe 7/8 full. Getting ready to start it, I rotated the fuel selector switch to "on" and within seconds I smelled and saw fuel dripping onto the floor. I quickly turned it off and the fuel gradually stopped - I can repeat this. The fuel is flowing from the hose that is connected to the bottom of the carb, and routes around to the left side toward the wheel well. Any idea what's going on here? It ran fine the last time I had it out. Thanks...
  18. Just purchased the warrior, after I made a few tests, found pick-up coil to have no resistance. Also when doing voltage test on sec. coil found aprox. 6 volts pos. ground, neg. on orange wire to coil. Is that norm. volt configuration? Any help would be apreciated,
  19. I was givin this ATV and its not working so I am charging the battery to get an idea. Can someone tell me where I can get a owners Manual, repair guide, and a service manual? Tried googling it but coming up short. Thanks
  20. 2003 Yamaha Warrior 350 Overheat and Gas/Air Mix Problems. My Warrior seems to be overheating on me. I live in Metropolitan Arizona, and I expect to have some issues with heat ,but not this bad. After about 30-40 minutes of riding it wants to die on me, the only thing to do to keep it from dieing is keep it revved up at idle and between gears. Tell me what you think about that issue. The next issue is that my Gas/Air mixture might be off. I don't know which screw is the mixture screw, I know which one is the idle screw. And I do know thats it all the way in 2.5 turns out on the mixture. It needs a new throttle cable and will come eventually. I'm just trying to fix these two issues for now. And last issue, but I think its more so related to the gas/air mixture. I takes FOREVER to start my quad. At least 10 minutes. I know its not getting enough air (or too much gas) because I had to take three of the screws out of the air filter cabin to get more air into the carburetor. When the air filter cabin lid is screwed down with all 5 screws it takes forever to start Full choke, about 10-15 minutes, and 50-75 cranks (tallying an almost dead battery), but when its propped open with a tire plug tool, it doesn't take AS long. Full choke, about 3 minutes and 25-35 cranks later! From my understanding a finely tuned ATV should only take a minimum of 2-10 cranks to start on full choke. Could there be some other issues with my carburetor besides the gas/air mixture being off? Like like the float or the jets? Please, any help will be greatly appreciated. Nathan L. Mesa, AZ

  23. Can anybody tell what the stock tires size is on a 350cc Honda Rancher, 2003?
  24. I have an issue with toe in/tow out on my Foreman S. The manual says 3/4 to 1 3/4 inch Tow Out, this seems wrong and it has caused my front tires to wear as if they rubber is being torn off them, (which it is). My Kodiak 450 manual has a Tow In of 0-.39 inches which seems more reasonable. What should the Front In tow be set at???? Bill
  25. Anyone have any tricks to removing front hub bearings? i tried a blind bearing puller, drift punch from opposite sides. Could i press out the bearings and inner race as one assembly or is the race part of the hub? I heard of a oven trick but cant find it anyone know it?
