I was googling something and started to think about the word "QUAD" and how it's used. Is an ATV a QUAD? We used to call it "quad riding" with my friends and not "ATV riding". I think over in the UK they call it "Quad Biking" from what I can tell. So what actually falls under the term "QUAD"? Do side by sides and UTV fall under this and do they fall under UTV as well? I'm interested to hear what people think about this here at QUADCRAZY.

Alright so I know that they all have their goods and bads. My options are the raptor 660 or 700(probably 700), ds650, outlaw 525, predator 500, or trx700. Before you rant and say this one is the period, I will have a budget of around $3000 tops. So that is however much I spend. After buying a raptor(660), ds650 and predator, I would have at absolute most $1000 dollars left. How ever with the raptor 700, outlaw 525, and trx I would be surprised to have any money left over. Now the extra money Now what I know, the ds650 is a pig stock, needs uncorked and tuned and has no reverse but can be a beast and rides good, the raptor 700 is a wheelier and way better than the 660 but neither can hill climb very well, the 660 is tippy and weaker and hard to tune. The outlaw is fast and expensive but rides like a dream but can't power slide, the predator is okay. Good power good shocks, just a good quad but has some reliability issues. And the trx700xx that is a dream but is like 4k and don't come up from sale much. Correct me if I am wrong with any of these statements. So which would u choose AND WHY, I don't give a shit that u can owned a Yamaha since they started making em, why would u choose the one u chose. Thanks, and yes I did post this on multiple forums to get more views and more responses. Sent from my XT1585 using Tapatalk

I took a quad in trade and was told that it was a blaster, thats it. Tried using the vin decoder in the stickies, but that didnt work. Tried other decoders none of them work.Im taking the vin from the frame in front of the foot peg, that matches the numbers on the engine, and when I put it into a decoder it tells me the vin isn t right. What can I do? thanks

I came upon a cool simple sound system called the [bold]Firehouse Technology "Trail Thumper"[/bold] that easily connects to my ATV and for its size really has great sound....its all self contained, I did not need to wire anything or provide power, puts out enough sound to ride or when taking a break enjoy some tunes...and also will charge my cell phone as its battery serves as a back up battery for smartphones....(kinda a cool extra) I have seen the system that mounts to the front of the quad but just wanted something that was easy to take on and off the bike....thought I would share. Here is some video of the product.....comment or opinions?

My daughter got a scare her and her friend were riding and the cvt belt went on my prairie and it went into limp mode and shot flames out the pipe when it backfired and you could smell the belt where it got hot. I went to pull her home and she thought the quad was going to blow up with her setting on it.

I have a quad (Can-Am) that takes 25 inch tires, just got a set of rims with tires that are 26's, not a whole bunch taller, don't see any problems using them? My main question, just in case I want to swap the tires in the rims, is on the rear tires. My original tires are 25/11/12 the replacement rims, the tires are 26/10/12. If the rims have the 26/10's now, will it work with the 25/11 tires? They appear to be the same width, are they? How can I tell what will work on the rim. Inside the rim, it is stamped 12/7.5 ET:+51

I'll attempt to define a utility ATV. Chime in if you have other qualifications. It should have racks. It should have 4WD. It should have diff lock. It should have a large fuel tank. It should have low end torque. It should be warmed up in less than a half minute. The battery should be easily accessible for giving/receiving jump starts. It should have a cigarette lighter adaptor. It should have a tow hitch. The racks should be low so it won't be top heavy when a sprayer is mounted. It should have very low gearing, especially in reverse. It should have enough fenderwell and tie rod clearance for snow chains. It should have a fan. It should have a storage compartment. It should have bumpers. It should have steel skid plates. It should have a winch. What else? Who makes the most useful utility quad? I have a couple older Suzuki Kingquad LTF300F ATV's, which meet many of the qualifications. Is there anything out there, new or used that would be an upgrade from what I have?

Hello everyone, I am new to this forum and need some advice. I am looking to purchase a quad for home use around my acreage and trail riding. I like the dependability of the hondas but they seem to be short on power and I do not have enough experience with the belt driven quads to know what is the most reliable. So from that, what would be the best quad to have? Thanks in advance for your advice.

I have been working on this atv for a few weeks. It had several issues and I"m down to the last one and its kicking my butt. New ecu ( customer got it and the dealer says its an early 06 model ecu and I should have a later). But the atv had this problem with the old ecu as well. I replaced the ecu, harness, new fuel pump, used harness in very good shape. Replaced throttle body with all sensors and injector at once. Checked valves, and timing. No FI codes, tps is adjusted. New spark plug ( spark is great ) I pulled the throttle body off and held it in my hand while turning the engine over and the injector wet my hand with fuel within a few cranks. The problem is the atv does not want to start, if you pour a little fuel down the throttle body it starts up and runs. It will usually start for the rest of the day, but it seems to run lean. The atv does have a K & N filter and exhaust on it. I called power commander and checked several other piggy back systems, but none of them add fuel at start up. I know the ecu being the wrong one could be causing this problem, but I find it hard to believe since the atv does run good once you get it started. The original problem was a bad harness ground causing the ecu to burn out, plus it had been sank so when I switched it over I cleaned every relay and plug on it. I have been through the manual and checked everything that would make the atv run in limp mode and it all checks out. This was just a precaution, as once its started it does not go to limp mode. I keep the battery charged and also give a 40 amp boost when cranking on it. What am I over looking?
