I know this has been talked about, so i did some research. After my research, i started buying parts. Here are the parts you need: 51380-HP7-A00, left front upper control arm 51370-HP7-A00, right front upper control arm 51350-HP5-600, right front lower control arm 51360-HP5-600, left front lower control arm 44615-HP5-600, front drive hubs (need 2) 53521-HP5-600, tie rods (need 2, this is just the adjuster rod, not the tie-rod ends) 51200-HP5-600, right steering knuckle 51250-HP5-600, left steering knuckle 53235-HP5-600, steering arm (connects the tie rod ends to the steering shaft) 23611-HP5-600, "final shaft", goes inside the engine, provides power to front and rear driveshafts) 40400-HP5-600, front driveshaft 44250-HP7-A31, right front axle 44350-HP7-A31, left front axle 11300-HP5-000, front crankcase cover 50350-HP5-600, front differential support bracket 41400-HP5-A50, front differential unit You also need the 4wd shift lever and the cable that connects it to the differential. there is not a part number for the whole assembly, just look on ebay. thats where i got mine. Now on to the good part, the turning of wrenches: Here is the engine before removal: after removal: front differential in position: ^^^notice the "TRX420TM" decal, indicating 2wd Here is a pic of the "final shaft", comparing the 2wd (in my hand) to the 4wd (in the engine). ^This is the most difficult part of this conversion, removing and opening the engine to swap out this shaft. However, there is a lovely video on youtube showing how to rebuild this engine and they clearly show the steps to remove/replace the rear cover and final shaft. Dont forget to remove the front cover before installing the new shaft, it will not fit thru the 2wd front cover. link to video>: once the new shaft is installed: you will need to install the front and rear covers using sealant, make sure all shims/washers and o-rings are in place in the correct locations referencing the video above. here is the right front corner mostly assembled: and fully assembled with hub, rotor, and brake caliper: I do have more pictures to upload, when i have more time i will update this further

I have a 2007 honda rancher 420 with trans problems. When I am riding it with the motor at around half and throttle and up the gear light will start to flash and then go away for about 5 seconds and then a dash will come up where the gear is sapose to be. I have to cut the fourwheeler off and use the front brake to crank it in gear and than wait a few seconds before it will shift. It does it in all gears except reverse as far as I know. It started about 4 months ago and is getting worse everytime i ride it. Please help me figure out how to fix it or atleast what is going on so I can take it to have it fixed.

I have a 2013 Honda Rancher ES that wont start. Last night after running the atv for 10 minutes I parked it for 2 minutes. When I came back to start it up the atv would not run. It was turning over. All electronics are working properly. The battery is strong. I sprayed a little bit of carb cleaner in the intake with filter off and the atv started for a second. I changed the spark plug and it still wouldn't run. Whats the next step to check before giving up and taking it to the dealership?

It seems like a gas problem but I've changec, fuel injector, gas cap. I have lots of fuel pressure but after four wheeler has run for 20-30 min I have no power and sometimes stalls and won't start. Any ideas?

Does anyone on here have a 2013 honda rancher? I have had several Honda ranchers in the past but I bought this 2013 rancher and it hits the rev limiter at half throttle. It is very annoying and I was wondering if anyone else's Rancher does this. If this is something from the factory or if I have a problem or not just trying to figure it out. Any help would be appreciated

i am running out of options and not sure what to do anymore. i have an 2009 honda rancher 4x4 foot shift model. i have only put about six tanks of gas through it since i bought it. i have developed a really bad grinding noise from the rear end only when you make right hand turns. it does not grind while driving straight or turning left only when you turn sharp to the right. you can hear it and feel it throughout the bike. it has been into three different dealerships now and not one dealership can figure out what is causing the grind. they said the bearing all look ok, the shims are to spec and everything in the rear end looks normal. it has solid rear end with drum brakes. Is this a normal sound for this model ?or does anyone know what is causing this grinding noise?

ok i need this question answer quickly before i might make a fool of myself. my friend is picking up a 2008 honda recon 420 tomarrow and i dont know if i should race him or not. im pretty sure i would beat him but just going here to have some questions answered first. 1) obviously, he will beat me on the trails. but any hint on how to outrun him making him feel like an idiot? 2) any mods i might want to get before i race him? nothing toooo expensive 3)do you think i will win or not? im a pretty good rider and he used to have a big bear 400 that he rode like once a month and never got out of 3rd gear, so hes not the greatest rider. like they say. its the rider that wins the race, not the bike
