I bought this old three wheeler that I found in a barn. It looked pretty rough, but I have it running now and functioning. With the switch set to "run" and the key in the "on" position the electric starter does not work when I push the starter button, However, if I cross the solenoid it will work and it will start the engine - so I know the starter motor is good and it works. Now, it gets a little mysterious. When the engine is running, AND the headlight is on high beam, the electric starter will engage when the starter button is pushed.....When its already running! (when the headlight is off or on "low" the starter button does nothing, only when running and in high beam will you hear the starter motor zing when you push the starter button) So, I know the button actually works, but only after the engine is already running and the high beam is on! So to recap: with the key on, the starter button does nothing. crossing the solenoid will make the starter work, and after the engine is running the starter will work with the button! Has anyone else had this problem? Can anyone point me in the right direction on solving this one? Thanks!

Hi. I recently had to replace the diaphragm on my QM 500, so I decided to add a sigma 6 jet kit. I basically replaces the main jet with a 135 (was 130) and moved the clip on the needle down one space (as per their directions) towards the RICH direction. Now that I have it reinstalled it starts great, idles great but if you try and give it any throttle it sputters, pops and looses all power. With the choke on it will accept throttle. This implies to me that I am running LEAN, which seems strange as I moved the needle towards rich and put a bigger jet in? I have checked the rubber connections on either side of the carb, the carb has been out and it is CLEAN. So any thoughts other then just "clean the carb". Thanks Chris

im BRAND new to thew ATV world and i was given a free 1994 king quad. the thing is, the engine runs, but is verrryy rough. it starts fine, idles well, and revs fine too, but only for a while. then when given gas the engine bogs down and barely runs, puffs out lots of smoke and smells of oil and some times quits completely. then it will go back to running fine. and back and forth...the machine had been sitting in the guys yard for 2 years. also, gas is in the oil. i have no idea where it is coming from.. already i have taken the carb out and am in the process of rebuilding that..i also added a new air filter(the old one was black with oil and very chewd up)and spark plug(the old plug was black and charred as well.) anything helps! THANK YOU

i have a 2001 arctic cat 500 that has started back firing and cutting off. it seems to happen more after its been rode a bit but at no particular speed....it will crank back up but continues to try to die and back fire and eventually dies again..any advice on where i should begin looking to fix this problem????

seems impossible to find an owner's manual...... any advice on shifting thru the hi/lo...2w to 4w selections on this...I know it has to be in gear to shift but is there another "secret"?.....also...is there an parking brake on it....not obvious....
