  1. my son has a 50cc Baja atv automatic trans that at time (right now) jerks then dies, once he trys to start it the starter causes the quad to lunge forward like the clutch is not releasing. when this happens, you cannot push the quad backwards either even with the engine off. if you raise the rear on a block it will start but the rear wheels will spin even at idle, if you pull the quad off the block the load of the machine will instantly kill the engine. im guessing its a stuck clutch issue however I cannot find any info anywhere. im an ase master auto tech so I am pretty mechanical just need a point in the right direction. any help would be greatly appreciated. thank you in advance! Dana
  2. Hello, i have a baja 250u wilderness and the neutral light wont come on hence i cant start it unless i pull start it any input would be great thanks the quad is in neutral and rolls just no light and no start thanks again
  3. this air tube just sticks out, port on the other side of it needs to go somewhere but i cant find it! it attaches to this. quad runs ok, boggs at 1/4 throttle, but i havent cleaned the carb and service it yet. just got it a week ago, and havent had tome to fool around yet, besides seeing how it runs. still need to touch up some things on it, but this part is stumping me.
  4. Hey all names Sean just joined up. I surfed the forums and couldn't track down anything to help me. Problem I'm having is when I try to start the quad with the electric start it turns over and will cough and a little puff of white smoke comes out of the exhaust. I pull started it the other day and she fired and would go for a bit if I feathers the throttle. As soon ad I would pull the clutch in though she dies. I changed spark plug, oil, starter solenoid. Haven't been able to check compression. Was thinking maybe timing is off? I'm not sure at this point I'm frustrated but keeping hope someone out here can point me in the right direction, this is my first quad.
  5. Hi, I have a baja 90cc atv. The battery went dead and the atv was sitting there for about a month. I got a new battery and now it will start up for like 2 seconds at full throttle without me touching anything after clicking the start button and then turn off. Its not moving because theres no clutch. Any tips on how to keep it running???????

Using my camera verses the prior owners :aargh does the color some justice .
  9. Ok My Cousin got his Baja Extreme 300 about 1 year ago, it ran if you jumped it, so we got a new battery. then it still needed jumped, so we just ignored it and kept jumping it. then it just stopped one day. so we needed to charge it for a couple hours then jumped it and it ran for about 100 yards then just died, and it wouldn't start again, i tryed starting it and it didn't even try, it made no noise at all, so my cousin had to push it all the way back to his house, so someone please tell me what you think is wrong with it. And the 2nd Thing i need to ask is what is the Baja Extreme 300 closest related to cause i think it's a generic brand atv.Cause he wants to buy some after market ATV parts and plastic for it. Cause my friend's Dad may be able to fix it and i want to know what's wrong with it first PLEASE SOMEONE HELP US!!!

  16. GBC Motorsports’ Tires Give Winning Traction to Historic Sweep of Baja 1000 LONG BEACH, Calif., December 12, 2008 - GBC Motorsports is thrilled to announce that its tires supported the historic victory of the Bi-Polar Extreme Racing Team/Arctic Cat win at this year’s grueling Baja 1000. This historic win is remarkable in that it was the first time that a UTV completed the race. The number one finisher was an Arctic Cat Prowler XTZ 1000 driven by Jim Creagan. Featuring 10” of ground clearance and fully independent suspension, the victorious Prowler XTZ 1000 was outfitted with GBC’s new Grim Reaper™ performance tires. Grim Reaper™ combines an aggressive tread pattern with deep wrap-around shoulder lugs to give you uncompromising performance and traction. This 8-ply rated all-terrain radial with up to 1,045 lbs. max load is constructed with a zig-zag center ridgeline, for superior puncture resistance and enhanced rider comfort. GBC Motorsports carries a wide line of ATV/UTV tires for all types of terrains and riders. The number two finisher was an Arctic Cat Prowler XTX 700 EFI driven by three sets of drivers. Featuring 12.5” of ground clearance and full independent suspension, the second place finisher was equipped with GBC’s new Dirt Commander™ tires. GBC Motorsports Performance ATV tires are built to get you over tough terrains to your destination. Dirt Commander™, GBC's new all terrain tire, is a super tough 8-ply rated bias tire radial with up to 1,045 lbs. max load that gives you excellent puncture resistance. Its siped tread design also gives additional biting edges for better traction in mixed terrains. “We put everything into designing the Grim Reaper and Dirt Commander as tough challengers capable of taming the most hostile terrain. The Baja 1000 was the perfect venue to showcase the endurance of our all-terrain, high-performance tires,” said Randy Tsai. “We’re extremely proud to be part of such an historic race and to work with the incredible Bi-Polar crew. Our congratulations go out to Jim and all the team members.” The world’s longest race, the 41st Annual SCORE Baja 1000 took place November 19 - 23. Totaling 631.35 miles, the brutal race promises an array of machine-breaking hazards for most brands. 17. Arctic Cat Prowlers Sweep Baja 1000 Minneapolis, Minn. – The finish line at the 41st Annual SCORE Baja 1000 was as dramatic as it was historic. Racing a pair of stock Arctic Cat Prowlers, the Bi-Polar/Arctic Cat team beat the brutal conditions to finish first and second place in the world’s longest, continuous off-road race. It was the first time in race history a side-by-side UTV vehicle has finished what is widely regarded as the most grueling off-road race in the world. “We were the first-time finishers and first-time winners in this greatest of all races because of a total team effort,” said Bi-Polar team co-owner and driver Jim Creagan of Yacott, Wash. “From start-to-finish, every person fulfilled their role perfectly and each Prowler performed magnificently.” Finishing first in the 634-mile race with a time of 27 hours and 57 minutes was a stock 2009 Prowler XTZ 1000 driven by Creagan and co-pilot Tim Wagner for the first 409 miles, followed by driver/co-driver Chris Fallon and Aaron Bahner for the remainder of the course. Taking second place at 28 hours and 13 minutes was a 2009 Prowler XTX 700 EFI driven by three driver/co-driver combinations: Shane Morgan and Tabor Cresap, Scott Sorenson and Justin Serface, and Casey Squires and Mike Connors. It was just the second attempt at the Baja 1000 for the Bi-Polar/Arctic Cat team. In 2007 they made it to mile-810 before succumbing to a broken suspension bolt. They returned this year, ready to prove the Prowler’s durability and to support their sponsors: Arctic Cat, Wired Energy Drink, Vision X Lighting, GBC Motorsports, TrailReady Beadlock Rims and King Shocks. “These were stock Prowlers except for the required roll-cage, extra night lights, King shocks and tires,” said Creagan. “Nothing broke on either machine during the race and we had only one flat tire on the 700. Our support crew never even had to put a tool to either machine. It was just gas-and-go at the pit stops, which is a testament to their durability and performance. ” More...

  21. The Ultimate Baja 1000 Racer By Brian McCune Mar 22, 2007 Racing the Baja 1000 is no easy task; riding the quad by yourself the entire length of the race is pure insanity. With only half of the starters even finishing the event, it takes an ultimate quad and an ultimate rider to attempt to solo this grueling course. Richie Brown did just that and he finished the race in 39 hours. With dependability and comfort in mind, he built his Honda TRX450R into the ultimate Baja quad. 1. Maxxis Razr 2 Tires Brown relied on the Maxxis Razr 2 for their enhanced cornering ability. The Razr 2 comes standard with a six-ply rating for maximum puncture resistance. They are made especially for demanding off-road racing like GNCC events, but work great in the desert, as well. According to GNCC champ Bill Ballance, the Razr and Razr 2 offer the best setup for the serious cross-country racer on every track and in every weather condition known to man. ($487; http://www.maxxis.com or call 800-4-MAXXIS) 2. AC Racing Nerfbars When racing for 39 hours (or even 39 minutes), nerfbars are a must! They keep your feet from turning into hamburger meat. AC Racing is known for exceptional aftermarket parts, and these nerfbars are no exception. These nerfs are lightweight and easy to install. ($190; http://www.acracing.com or call them at 714-808-8330) 3. IMS Fuel Tank Thinking of running the Baja 1000? Well, then fuel is something you will need plenty of! Even one extra gallon can be the difference between fueling up 10 times instead of 15 and saving precious time. The IMS fuel tank will add an extra gallon of gas while still keeping a low profile. ($225; http://www.imsproducts.com or call 800-237-9906) 4. Fasst Flex Handlebars The Fasst bars are made to provide the rider with the best performance and comfort available. They absorb almost all vibration, which reduces rider fatigue and makes it possible to ride harder and longer (a necessity for all Baja racers). ($299; http://www.fasstco.com or call them at 562-601-8119) 5. EFM Auto Clutch After riding 500 miles and shifting between gears over a hundred times, you can be sure all the Baja riders have wished they could just sit back and let the tranny do all the work. An EFM Auto Clutch is just what they need! Although some work is still required. The EFM clutch automatically engages and disengages itself. It also leaves the manual lever intact, so if the need arises, the rider can take control. ($500; http://www.efmautoclutch.com or hit them up at 330-947-1700) 6. Ricky Stator Baja2 Light Kit While racing through some of the roughest terrain and weather known to man, high-powered headlights are key to keeping your eyes focused on the track ahead. Ricky Stator has been a name known in the light industry for years. The nine-inch Maxtell lights, in conjunction with the powdercoated steel protective light bar, make for a durable yet affordable setup. ($249; http://www.rickystator.com or call for yours at 760-787-0094) 7. Scotts Performance Steering Damper Steering dampers are a must-have when riding for even a few hours, let alone 39. Scotts Steering damper reduces rider fatigue by eliminating the sudden thrusts felt when navigating rough terrain. This particular damper is also adjustable on the fly, so while you’re out riding a thousand miles it can be fine-tuned to perfection. ($400; http://www.scottsperformance.com or call 818-248-6747) 8. CV4 Radiator Hoses Ever have a radiator hose burst? It’s not fun. CV4 Silicone Radiator Hoses are specifically designed to endure extremes. They can withstand temperatures from -76 F to +428 F, and are made to handle even the nastiest impacts. While typically overlooked on most quads, the hundred bucks can be what stand between you and the finish line in Baja. ($112; http://www.cvproducts.com or call them at 800-448-1223) 8. HMF Ironman Performance Exhaust No one races with a stock exhaust system these days, and running the Baja 1000 is no exception. Brown turned to the Ironman series from HMF to pull every ounce of power from his TRX450R. The Ironman increases horsepower on the top end and keeps the bottom end power and torque that HMF is known for. ($340; http://www.hmfengineering.com or call them at 866-HMF-PIPE) 9. LoneStar Axle An axle on a quad takes an insane amount of abuse, and anyone who has run a Baja race knows axles are basically butter in that kind of terrain. LoneStar axles are backed by a lifetime warranty, which speaks for the quality of the product they put out. All LoneStar axles are adjustable from two inches under stock to one inch over stock width. ($420 http://www.lsracing.com or call them at 800-457-7223) 10. Elka Shocks Nothing is worse than having a mediocre set of shocks on a quad, so for their reliability, wide range of use, and quality, Brown turned to Elka Suspension. Every Elka shock is custom-built for each customer according to the rider’s weight, riding style, and type of terrain. This setup can take a beating and provide a much smoother ride, making a thousand-mile trek more comfortable. (Front shocks $1,395, rear shock $995; http://www.elkasuspension.com or call your local Elka dealer) 11. Adapt Graphics Kit As the final touches go into a quad, you can’t leave out the trick graphics. For a good-looking and affordable graphics kit, Brown headed to the guys at Adapt to hook him up with their latest TRX450R kit. No matter what terrain this quad is on, it will stand out from the crowd. (Graphics kit and seat cover $150; http://www.adaptracing.com or call them at 404-704-0419) Courtesy http://www.quadmagazine.com/quad/features/article/0,24942,1601604,00.html
