Posted this in the New members section to, don't want to get a bad rap as the newbie! I recently was given a 2005 Chinese ATV, No marking what so ever other than on the side of the head it says 10cm3, which i think means that it is a 90cc? Trying to figure out which cdi it needs, as I have diagnosed that i am only getting .1 v at the coil, it also has a alarm (no fob) which Ive read you can just unplug to bypass, i have the Vin number it is l5nsumcc45t009855 but that isn't helping much... The motor cranks, but no spark checked the kill switches etc. It has a horizontal motor. The attached is a pic of it. Possibly a TAOTAO?

I have to many to post I am finding problems left and right on it but i was curious if anyone knew what are some CDI symptoms are? Also when I start it up it takes about 20 mins before i can even get it moving it stops moving when ever the fan comes on also got any ideas It also makes a loud pop noise and and a flame comes out of the exhaust. The previous owner put all the wires for almost everything together and taped it up so i am trying to test everything to c why its acting up.

i have a 08 raptor 700 and im running a rev max cdi. i would like to change back to the stock cdi but the problem is it wont work. i tried my friends cdi also and it wont work but they both work on his quad. his cdi has always been stock. my other friend has a procom cdi and i tried the 2 stock ones on his quad also and they wont work. is it possible the aftermarket cdi has changed somthing to make stock ones not work? everyone i talk to said they have never heard of this happening

Yeah i've got a SMALL problem. Being the speed freak i am, i took upon myself to do a little modification to my 5th gear limiter on my 07 RAPTOR 700R. I had read that all you had to do is cut and ground the BabyBLUE wire on the end of the CDI. Well being my A.D.D. Self i didn't read the part about unplugging the CDI and the Battery first. So as soon as i finish making my connection to ground i try, key word try, to start it up. Well quess what it eon't start. It turns over and wasn't getting any fire. I checked everything, tried unplugging everything, nothing worked. Well i go to remove my spliced wire from ground and it hit the hot post on the battery. Now it won't even turn over. DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY IDEALS

Hit enter by mistake on previous post. I have seen references on this and other forums about testing the CDI. The service manager at a dealership in North Myrtle Beach tells me they cannot be tested. What's the real scoop here?
