  1. Hi, I'm having a serious issue with my 99 lakota. Earlier today I went to go for a ride and when I put it in gear it stalled out in gear for whatever reason, now it will not go back into neutral, when trying to get it out of gear a friend and myself pushed the quad back and fourth and I managed to get the gears to shift all the up to 5th but going back down it shifted really soft into 2nd and will not get to 1st or neutral. So I decided to tear apart the engine, I'm reading the Clymers manual to check for things that may be wrong, I'm thinking possibly the shifter and the star gear that shifts the gears might not be connecting correctly. to even look at that I have to remove both the primary and secondary clutches. The Clymers manual tells me to remove the primary by first removing the recoil starter and hold the rotor bolt to unscrew the clutch bolt. When I tried that the rotor bolt broke loose, so I decided to try to hold the rotor still and that is spinning. So now both of those ideas/methods have failed and I'm plum out of ideas on how to get that nut loose, then I'll have the same issue with the nut on the secondary clutch. According to Clymers the clutch nut is torqued to 107 ftlbs the only other thing I can think of is jamming the sprockets but thats not an option cause they will more than likely break a tooth or more. Anyone have any ideas on what I can try to do? The way it's looking now the bike is done Thanks

  5. my son has a 50cc Baja atv automatic trans that at time (right now) jerks then dies, once he trys to start it the starter causes the quad to lunge forward like the clutch is not releasing. when this happens, you cannot push the quad backwards either even with the engine off. if you raise the rear on a block it will start but the rear wheels will spin even at idle, if you pull the quad off the block the load of the machine will instantly kill the engine. im guessing its a stuck clutch issue however I cannot find any info anywhere. im an ase master auto tech so I am pretty mechanical just need a point in the right direction. any help would be greatly appreciated. thank you in advance!   6. I have taken the cover off and don't see why, but it rubs the shroud/ belt guard at a low idle, there is a small hole starting to rub thru it?
  7. I recently bought this quad. When I shift into gear it wants to take off on me or stall if I hold the brake. I can get it moving if I use the shifter like a clutch and let it down easy. I have manual and adjusted clutch but it seems to be all or nothing meaning it won't go at all. What is my next move? New clutch? Any ideas?
  8. Hello everyone I have a liitle issue here that has left me scratching my head. I recently bought a Moto 4 87 2wd. About 20 minutes after I got it home I heard a loud wrenching and snapping and then what sounded of metal whirling around in places it shouldnt. I opened up the right crankcase and found that a spring on the clutch carry assembly has broken unto ublivion. Not the clutch now, the clutch carry assembly. I bought a new spring, replaced it. And put it all back together (with some difficulty, I am unsure about the reinstallation of one part - see video in link below). I started it up no problem, with the immediate wrenching and snapping and whirling again. Opened it up again, another broken spring. I have now ordered enough springs to replace ALL the srings at the same time because I have noticed all the springs but one are very loose.   9. I have a 93 LT-F4WDX and the clutch is slipping and not engaging. so far if i let it warm up for a while it will go, but not anywhere fast and even the slightest water will disengage the clutch. I have been limping it along by putting thicker oil in it, but now I wanna know how to actually fix it. Do you have any ideas on what parts I need? what is broken and how do I fix it? THANK YOU!

  12. Hey folks, new ATV owner and new to the forum. My 2010 Arctic Cat 500 has a whining or slight grinding noise from the clutch area. It does it when revving in neutral or in gear.   13. I have a 2005 650 H1, whenever I go to take off, I have to basically floor it to get it to move, and it only goes about 5ph with the engine revved up. I took the belt housing off and checked the belt, it looks ok,(no cracks), but its full of black dust. I swamped it a couple years ago and had to have the top half of the motor rebuilt. when rebuilt, a new belt was put on last February. My question is: would the belt possibly be glazed, or should I take it apart down to the wet clutch and check/replace that?
  14. i noticed my clutch slipping yesterday and trying to figure it out today. this makes no sense to me at all but i have it pinned down to when im in a higher gear 4th,5th, and turning left hard on the throttle??? i noticed when taking a corner in 5th drifting and all of a sudden it slipped and i could rev it over and over and it didnt fully engage untill i straightend out, so to put it to the test i found a big patch of snowy ice and started doing a big donut in 4th and hit a sandy part and it started slipping and kept slipping untill i straightened out, then did this a few more times to confirm......does this make any sence to anyone???? i also did it turning right to check if it does it then and i couldnt get it to do it....i also made sure my foot wasnt pulling up the shift lever because i convinced myself i must of been doing that and im not, theres no sounds to indicate splines worn out and slipping just the sound of the motor revving any help would be appreciated, im going to go tear into the clutch right now and see what i can find also to add i did just change the oil and i didnt use atv oil but why would it do this when turning left??? could it be the force pushing oil to be higher on the clutch pack???

  17. i have a 2004 arctic cat 400 4x4 manual with 28 mudlight tires and the clutch is slipping. so i am going to replace the clutch but i dont know which one to buy. is there one that is better than stock for these bigger tires and if so which do you guys prefer. thanks
  18. Hey there everyone. Father in law picked up a used 2000 BB400 4x2 - motor runs well, no smoking. Little cold natured, but starts easy enough on full choke, and as it warms up you can back the choke off to a normal idle. Not uncommon for older carbed bikes/quads. but - cold or hot, this thing is sometimes a real pain to get into reverse or 1st without rocking it back and forth a good bit. as it warms up, again it acts better,but doesn't get perfect. When moving,it shifts up and down smoothly and accurately with no signs of clutch slipping. Oil looks good and clean. I see the clutch adjustment on the left side crankcase - but before I go screwing with anything, I'd like some other's opinions on what I might do to make the engagement easier. thanks, Chris

Pulley centrifugal clutch for our CF Moto 500A and a heep of other stuff so my question is can you watch the video and tall me what you think the best combination will be for bike most of it's riding will be done at the beach and slow technical 4x4 stuff pls let me know befor I go installing it [ame] [/ame]
  20. has any one had any problems with there ds650 starter clutch i have to replace mine again after just replacing it back in march. any help would be great those thinks are very expensive. thanks
  21. I had my machine tore down sitting on the bench for 3 months. I just got it together now the clutch will not adjust . If it runs good it stalls when you stop or if you get it to start and stop good it slips bad when driving.
  22. Ok everyone here is my wonderful dilemma, any help or insight will be EXTREMELY helpful. 2010 Polaris Phoenix ridden by my wife. Last year we were riding and after going up some decent hills there was an awful smell of burning brakes. well since then she has a hard time going up almost any hill and really has to get a head start to get up the steeper ones. So today I took it all apart and found a lot of dust in there and blew it all out. I also notice the rear clutch is wobbly you can see I'm trying to show it in my video, also you can see in the video the atv seems to jerk a lot when I press the gas. Also in the video you can see when I squeeze the belt the rear shaft stays out and the belt stays loose, is this normal? It did not seem to be doing this as bad after I took the rear clutch apart and blew all the dust out. The weights also look like they have some signs of excessive heat The belt doesn't seem to bad although it does seem a little bit shiny on the sides possibly meaning it has glazed over? The front clutch doesn't seem bad at all and the rollers looked in good shape So what I am wondering from the pics and the video is, what parts do you guys think need replaced? I am guessing the weights on the rear clutch need replaced and possibly the belt. What do you guys think? Thanks
  23. it is a 99 blaster just bought it tonight. The guy told me it has a brand new clutch in it. Ride rode it around for awhile now when you pull the clutch in it feels like there is nothing there and the clutch doesnt disengage. When you force it in it still goes so i dont think the clutch is out of it what could i do to fix this
  24. i just bought an 2006 falcon 110cc and it starts and runs good but has almost no power especially in first gear and ive seen them on youtube so i know this is not normal so i was thinking maybe the clutch needs adjusted but i cant find where you adjust it at thanks for any help and pictures will be most helpfull the reason im posting in honda forum is i heard the kazuma quads are replicas of older honda engines and i bought an 06 kazuma falcon 110cc that has almost no power especially in first gear and i no they have more power ive seen them on youtube so im wondering if there is a clutch adjustment and where it would be thanks for any help
