Good Afternoon! Woke up this morning to these pictures, how difficult a repair is this? I think this is just a seal? How do you get the driveshaft out to replace it? Sorry this is my first issue with this bike, trying to keep the cost down.

just bought a 91 big bear 4x4. if i go too fast it locks up and the rear wheels will not turn. if i put it in reverse and back up a bit it "resets it" and i can keep going. does this sound like a tranny issue? diff issue? or transfer case issue? i will tear it down but if you guys have an inkling of what could cause this issue it would give me a place to start regards, VikingTrad3r.

Is there anyway to get the Pinion bearing out without the special tools the service manual calls for? I have not been able to remove the pinion gear shaft coupling joint yet to get to it. Cant figure out how to get that off either.

My bike kicks out of 4x4 as soon as it moves? 4 high or 4 low both kick out But diff lock works fine? I wonder if it could be the shift button for 2wheel drive to 4x4? Or is it my differential? Help

I know I'm new here but not new to PowerToys. My collection includes a 71 CB750 Chopper, A 78 XS100 bagger, an 81 IT 175 Enduro, a 76 XT500 DP, and a 78 Peterborough boat. My quad experience is limted to the OLs HondaYamaSuki Special. I gave it to her last Christmas. Its a 85 Suzi Quadsport chassis, with a 1980 Honda XR200 motor, and modified Raptor plastics. It features an FMF Turbocore silencer, a Custom built cable side kick starting system, and dragon scale paint. Pics to follow. More to the point, I have her dads 95 350 bigbear in the shop for some work, and Ive run into an issue in the front diff. Everything I`ve seen says that the front diff carrier bearings are 35x72x17. Unfortunately, the bearing boss on the carrier I have here is only 32mm. There is 3mm of play between the carrier and it supporting bearing. Everything i know from all my experience says this is WRONG.`The carrier and ring gear look to be in decent shape, there is NO obvious wear on the carrier bearing bosses. the bearin gs look to be brand new, but yet I have this problem. The carrier I have here is a limited slip diff, and it fits the CVjoint splines, sorta. I`m kinda lost, so if you have a stock diff on the bench, could you measure the bearing bosses for me. That would be awesome.

I don't know if it's a common problem or just me, but you might want to check the hose clamps on your rear diff vent. Mine was leaking oil up around the bellows/accordian, and I noticed the clamps were loose. Upon further inspection, I found that not only the two connecting the bellows to the hose were loose, but the clamp at the diff vent to the hose was loose too. Freely spinning clamps can't be doing too much clamping. I replaced all 3 clamps with some better ones that actually clamp (from O'Reilly). I also went ahead and replaced the splice joint from the hose to the bellows with a slightly bigger one. I drained and filled the diff after that to be safe. The front is next...
